How are we comparing them? Because Chavs were shit under Poch in the first few months like you said, but as you strongly advocate, it takes time for a manager to figure out which players he will use, which tactics, etc.

I guess Maresca had some foundations laid down by Poch and it must’ve been easier to transition to his system.

Exactly. He's kinda just exploded his own well trodden argument about Ange needing time

must say how much I am disapointed so far with Bergval .Trumpeted as one of the best young players in Europe and Real Madrid wanted him but so far he looks way off.He is young but a lot of youngsters show more than he is at the moment.

And a lot don't show it until much later.
We will see, where do we think he's failing right now? As is his problem a mental one or physicality or decision making, tactical awareness or a bit of all? It's not the technique and raw talent that I think we can't disagree on?

If you want a comparison between Poch and Ange look at last season, one manager finished higher than the other and one manager had vastly more resources than the other and also had to deal with losing the best striker in the world...

Poch miles clear. Got to a final last year, did the double over Ange and had to deal with a chaotic squad with about 50 new players. Their striker was a meme.

Consistently got better throughout the season rather than worse.

And of course Ange had it all rosy didn't he lol

So are we going to do this two way argument then because people are willing to discount Ange's first 10 matches and point to the latter part of the season yet we're ignoring Poch's start and counting the last part of his season, oh okay then.

Managers are meant to improve their team as time goes on. Poch did that. Their squad finished 12th the season before so Poch got them further up the table than Ange did for us.

They progressively got better and did well in both cups. Ange had a more settled team and a balanced amount of ‘ins’ which he undoubtedly had more control over.

Long live King Poch ♥️.

All I hear from Ange recently is "We weren't ourselves today". I would suggest that the last three away performances - Brighon, Palace and Galatasary - is excactly who we are. A team that can seemingly only perform for twenty minutes in any given game, a team who crumble as soon as they have a setback away from home and a team who panic as soon as the opposition pressure us.
I have a feeling we will lose to Ipswich. this will be the beginnig of the end for Ange. He cannot be taken seriously as a top flight manager.

Theres also the small tiny fact Poch had a far superior team to work with

And yet here we are one manager kept his job, the other one didn't.

Let's not let facts get in the way of your narrative, your manager is currently swanning it in Rodeo Drive going with front seats at the Lakers and his job is working with Christian Pulisic, my manager is eating an Nobu, shopping at Harrods and has a Premier League job for a top 6 team, we are not the same.

I think we will beat Ipswich mate, or at least you would expect so.
Yes I agree the away form is almost non existent, to compare it with the home form it really is night and day.
What is quite strange or alarming is , the bad performances at Coventry, Brighton, Palace and last night, are amongst the worst performances i have seen in years.
And yet they have so far all come about in a period of several weeks, I'm sure there is more to come this season.
But the home form, although sometimes we go behind, the team is a slightly different animal.
I think mentality is part of the problem, but maybe we need to sit a bit deeper away from home., I don't suppose ange will change it, it seems it's shit or bust under him.

Ange: I don't allow anyone else to dictate my aims
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Hugo Lloris' book extracts:

"I haven't read what Hugo (Lloris) said, it's been mentioned to me. With all these things you've got to put context around them and understand the broader view.

"That could have been a very successful period for the club, they were very close. You're talking about finishing runners-up in the Premier League and Champions League. It could have been a very different era.

"It's easy to focus on the negatives when the outcome is not what you want. There was obviously a lot right at the time that got them very close.

"I've never allowed anyone else to dictate my ambitions or my aims. What I try to do with everyone around me is not put a limit on what you can achieve because if you do then potentially you might miss something that comes your way.

"From the moment I started there's been a pretty clear brief about what we want to try and achieve."

My manager got Spurs to a CL final and top 4 was the minimum expectation, your manager could get 5th this season and his cheerleaders would act like it was genius again.

No, you said Maresca is doing better than Poch did, so how can you make that comparison?

Also not sure you can do a cold comparison between Poch and Postecoglou based on last season, you said a few days ago different club, different circumstances.

You consistently find and make excuses for other managers more than you're ever willing to do for ours.

Firstly - getting from 12th-6th is easier than getting from 8th into the top 4 - you know it is. The competition gets harder the further you move up the table. No way in hell you would be saying any manager of ours did a good job to do what Poch did, you would say they did the minimum expected.

Secondly, Poch's league opponents were also easier than the ones now -

I rated and still rate Poch and think he has proven himself to be a very capable PL manager - think he was batshit crazy to take the Chelsea Job when he did and also think if he had stayed on they would be likely performing on par with them under the new manager.

But lets be real.- you're weighting your opinion on the situations though your negative spurs tinted glasses
