Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Enic, Injuries, 3 games a week every single excuse except the main one. Our manager and his philosophy simply isn't good enough at this level. When everyone, especially Levy recognises this, then we can get rid and move on!

They haven’t been “sufficiently” upgraded. Our squad depth is absolute ass and players like Son have massively regressed since Conte was here. So essentially we’ve lost Kane and Son.

Also people on here may not like to talk about him in that way but Conte is a world class manager. Easily top 10 in the world. Of course his tactics can get more out of the players. We won’t be getting a manager at that level again anytime soon. The era of deluxe spurs that Poch created is over and we’re back to Jol/Redknapp style teams at best.

I see no point in sacking Ange mid season with the state of this squad. If we’re going to get rid then we might as well wait until the Summer when the likes of Iraola would be more willing to jump ship. Even then, I can’t get excited for anymore “projects”. Levy will always leave his manager short in crucial areas in the Summer.
they have been sufficiently upgraded. dier, lloris, sanchez, emerson, skipp, winks..these players were seeing a LOT of football. all serious weak links in a side. they have all been sufficiently upgraded. the front line is now the weak area, whereas before it was the strong point due to kane.

our depth isnt great, but it was fucking diabolical with conte.

How many CB would you have in 26 man squad?
I think four plus youth realistically. A 22 man squad should be two full teams. It’s a 25 man squad so you’d then go of one utility defender, utility midfielder and forward. Then your kids to supplement.

If we had 4 proper CBs and rotated somewhat you could argue we wouldn’t be in this bad a position. A lack of options and rotation has exacerbated poor fortune too.

Ah okay I thought 26 for some reason.

This bloke needs a squad of 100 players to cope with his ridiculous training and high intensity demands. Players are dropping like flies. Weve gone from one extreme to another from conte to ange. We need a balanced manager. Not this bloke in charge.

Mate you said

I want a manager with the confidence and self belief that they can finally get it winning trophies. They should have that ego.

I brought up 2 managers who had a history of winning major trophies, came here, didn’t get backed by Levy and were fired.

Look no further than our current manager to check all of your boxes.
Ego ✅
Self belief ✅
Won trophies ✅ (granted at lower levels)
No, I want someone who can believe in themselves enough to think they can take the sixth biggest wage budget in the league and make more of it than it is.

What you said is any manager who is willing to come here is a red flag in itself, so what's the plan there then? Ange isn't capable so we appoint someone who only comes kicking and screaming who doesn't have any self belief?

I'm not even sure if this accusation of enjoying a "managerial-merry-go-round" is factually correct. Have we employed more managers in, let's say, the last 20 years compared to some other clubs that are often mentioned as benchmarks of success?

Clubs like Bayern (13), Real Madrid (16) and Ajax (13) have actually had more full-time managers than us (10) in the same time period. If we're guilty of changing managers too much, then these supposedly enviable clubs are doing even worse.

Like it or hate it, this managerial-merry-go-round is universal. It's not something we as a club are particularly guilty of resorting to. In fact, we're probably on the more conservative side in terms of sticking with our managers in the face of adversity.

The average lifetime of a manager is around 18 months. Don't expect them to get years and years, hundreds of millions of pounds worth of signings before you think you can start evaluating them. No one is afforded this sort of a luxury, for good reasons.
Our real merry go round didn’t start until we sacked Poch

The fact that we lost Maddison and Bentacur to being hacked, Romero and Bissouma to red cards and VDV to a hamstring all at the same time and then lost Son, Sarr and Bissouma to continental cups is something only Tottenham Hotspur could do.

And we didn't have a similar outcome in results, we finished 5th. We are currently 11th, it's much worse this year.
The outcome of the results is basically the exact same for 3/4 of last season

If we beat wolves it's 1.36ppg this season

After the first 10 last season it's 1.4ppg for the rest of season which was 28 games.

Its worse now because there is no way we are going to go on a 10 game run with 8 wins and 2 draws in the prem now mate.

I want nothing more than to be proved wrong by the way but we get an injury to Solanke and or Kulusevski and we could well and truly fall in a relegation battle if we keep throwing goals away because this guy ain't doing his job properly.

FYI.
We have in England what we call "a football season."
It normally runs from August to May.
Last season we finished 5th, missing top 4 and UCL by 2 points.
This season, despite 10 regular first teamers being injured, we are 6 points behind 5th place and UCL.

I don’t quite agree about you on the 10 regular first teamers missing through injury. As far as I can see , only Vic, VDV, Romero and Bentancur can be considered as regular first teamers, The rest are just part of the first team squad but hardly used regularly.

All clubs, every season, expect some players to unavailable due to injuries. It’s not exclusive to us only.

We are only missing 3 key first team players. They’d fuck any team over of course but we have lost plenty of games with all 3 present.

The 10 squad player total injuries is affecting our ability to rotate - not that Ange was really rotating when they were fit.
