Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That second leg is the do or die game for Ange. I think Levy will tolerate this form as long as we don't get dragged any closer to the relegation battle and we make it to the final. If we lose at Anfield, Ange is out and Levy will have to start doing some Actual work
Every week someone says "do or die" or some other phrase like "if we lose this one he's gone" etc etc but guess what...even after Goodison, he's still here...surprise, surprise

We are SO uncoached. It's possibly why the players aren't kicking off. Most of them probably love it. It's probably easy stuff. All mates and bantah.
Bentley would come out of retirement for that.
Exactly. Turn up in the morning. Have decent nosh at the canteen. Ange on porn upstairs as usual? Yeah, no worries then. Do some shots for Insta in the gym. Then some other game for socials. A kick about. Massage. More nosh, and then back home in the G-Wagon for an afternoon on Brawlstars.

Who wouldn't love that????

Bloke grinds my gears. It's so fitting that we have such a wet flannel as the "club journalist". Never asks the hard questions, just meekly accept failure and incompetence as we hurtle down into the Championship.
He's one of those whose entire life is football, he's hitched his wagon to Postcoglou being a tactical genius, and so admitting they were wrong all along would be akin to admitting you know absolutely nothing about the sport you spend all day writing about.

It's too much for these people to accept, too much of a mental collapse, so they have to look for other reasons (injures, Levy, young players) that enable them to believe they're not a complete fraud just like this manager. You see it all over this forum too.

Logged back on hoping/expecting news he had been given the chop, instead I just discover a board basically saying "but injuries":wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:

Reckon he’s good for at least another weeks wages anyway. Straight after the game yesterday or by lunchtime today were probably the optimum times to fire him.

Did Conte get sacked without comp?? First I've heard of that. He only had 6 months left on his deal anyway from what I remember.

In any case, I'm not really sure I buy this theory. We went for Ange in the first place partly because he was cheap, and coming from the SPL he had little leverage over his wage, certainly less than a Mourinho or Conte. This was by far the biggest job of his career and you'd have to think his salary would reflect that (Conte was on 17m, Ange only 4m per year iirc).

And I'm sure that Levy being who he is, and knowing that the average shelf-life of a manager under him is around 18 months, he'd have stipulated a pretty mediocre payoff were Ange to be sacked. Wouldn't surprise me if there were some clauses in his contract stipulating league position too, ie, if we're bottom half he only gets £2m or whatever.

When you compare all this to our lost revenues were we to finish in the bottom half, commercial and TV, it pales in comparison. I see no financial argument for keeping Postecoglou in post whatsoever.

My guess would be that Ange was a cheap punt ( by a cheap punter ) ; one that might work out but probably won’t .

But ; it keeps the plates spinning and the turnstiles whirring until the next likely lad comes along.

I still hope Ange turns out to be a success , whatever it takes .

But the whole Are You Not Entertained ? part of the cycle only rolls around so often .

Danny will want something different next time. Which is a shame IMO .

Davies and Moore are one game back, but had been unavailable for weeks.I have never seen an injury list at Spurs like this in all my time, that I can remember. And this is a fucking meh team/squad to start with.

As I’ve said before, I’m ambivalent about Ange being sacked or not, don’t mind if he’s given to the end of the season, but if there’s someone good who’ll come in, don’t mind that either, but I really don’t know what people expect from a) this squad b) what’s left of this squad.

No matter who comes in.

fuck have to think levy and the board have determined we're not likely to get relegated so we're sticking with ange until the end of the season. to them anything above 18th is fine and they can have an easier go at finding the replacement after the season. if things really turn south i guess they'll try mason or someone currently unemployed but i think they don't want to pay someone who isn't their first choice. meanwhile we fans get to suffer the ignominy of a relegation fight with the fat cunt for the next 4 months. this absolutely sucks

If he ends up winning a trophy how likely is it they get rid of him even if we do finish bottom half at the end of the season?

so true!

the postecoglou experience has actually been a huge eye opener. ive got spurs mates that until recently wanted this idiot in! ive got zero respect for any of their opinions on football going forward. ill be worried if they actually share the same opinion as me going forward.

So what? Add it to the second half v Leicester, second half v Brighton, Palace away...we played some awful stuff with our first choice players. No consistency, the same defensive issues regardless of who plays (attack our right side). Injuries obviously make it worse, but the problem is the coach. He is the root cause of the problem.
Precisely. Of course injuries have played a significant part but with or without them, we still see the same issues, no consistency and a team approach lacking any real cohesion.
After Wednesday, he said the performance was unacceptable and that he would put it right. He got tetchy with the BBC reporter yesterday so they probably curtailed their questioning, but it was a shame no one asked him if he thought yesterday’s performance was unacceptable. He just gave some waffle about the structure not working then trotted his usual speech about responsibility lying with him and him taking the blame etc. Meanwhile, his team will set up against Leicester with a huge open space of visible green in the middle of the park while he stands there at the sidelines with his hands in his pockets.

I’m naturally assuming he won’t have gone by then.

oh ffs. Can't you see that there is a compounding effect going on?

The players haven't been properly coached now for 18 months.

Our only good players are those who have spent the least time under his horrible mis-management (Spence, Solanke, Gray, Bergvall).

We would be absolutely miles off 5th even with zero injuries.
Bravo, Sir.

Also the small matter that finishing 5th last year was a bit of a fluke. Proper flattered us.

It depends on the money. We are still considered a wealthy club. If someone comes knocking they will sell. Question is who is willing to buy us for 10 billion?

Enic will never sell why we are down. They will want top dollar so will only sell if we are flying high. Think Catch 22
Lewis will sell either when the Super League is active or when the coffin is nailed shut on the Super League (my guess is the latter never occurs as the former is inevitable).

The Super League is the next great explosion in (some) football clubs' values. Currently, despite being the world's most popular game, there are only 6 clubs more valuable than the least valuable NFL team (Bayern, Madrid, Barca, Liverpool, United, City). The football clubs continue to fall further behind, and are now being overtaken by the NBA with 3 NBA teams more valuable than the richest football club, Madrid. There are 8 nFL teams more valuable than Madrid, and that number increases every year.

The structure of football inhibits the growth of clubs' values, which is why the monied interests behind the game want a change. A fixed structure Super League would catapult those clubs'values into the stratosphere, similar to the way the PL international TV and commercialization deals ballooned values (the first big wave ENIC benefitted from).

As members of an operational Super League, THFC would likely be worth £6-10B. That's double or more than the £3B it's currently worth.

With that sort of bubble on the horizon, there's no chance ENIC sell.

Let's have it right...say we win the EL and/or Carabao Cup...and that's a big fucking if already.

Well Ange would still be a fucking joke of a manager/coach and still should be nowhere near the Spurs job. I say that now and I'd say it then.

You win one/two trophies and you're still utter shite at your job in most people's eyes. Says it all about that dumpling.

Avram Grant and Bobby Di Matteo once won big things with the Chavs iirc...didn't make them elite managers and they rightly got the sack soon after.
