Need to make a decision quickly about whether to keep Ange and then get on with the business of securing some decent new signings. We are already playing catch up with Woolwich, Chelsea etc being quick off the mark in this transfer window and any more procrastination will eventually likely result in us paying over the odds for the dross that is left over as all the quality will have been signed up. Don’t want to be spending 60 mill a piece on this season’s equivalent of Johnson, Richy and Solanke

I could be wrong, but I reckon the decision has long been made, it’s just the communicating of it that’s been delayed.

Probably to let the cup euphoria die down.

My concern is that he's had a decent first 10 games in both his seasons (well, W5, L4, D1 this season*) which is enough time to give the impression that things could work out, and yet too long to get another decent candidate in probably

*scarily enough that's 16 points from 10 games, which seems a bit crap but we only got 22 points from the 28 games that came after it. So this season, 42% of our points were in the first 10 games!
And that should be ringing alarm bells in Levy’s bald head...

I can totally get why the players love him, he does seem to be good at the motivational speeches. I get that. It's just most of the time on the pitch though they just don't look like they know what to do or how.

I can see they'd be willing to run through walls for him, but it's just not enough on its own is it?

Doing something utterly shit but doing it at 100mph doesn't make it better.

The players feelings are a consideration of course, but it doesn't trump losing 58% of our matches in a league season.
Not sure about motivationsl speeches. In all the NLDs we have come out in a coma. Numerous games where hardly look at it. Then in some games like Brighton away we are abysmal.

I don't think any big talents will come here whilst AP is here. Or Levy for that matter. We must be Brighton like and hunt down great young talent...I don't see any game changers or big names wanting to come here atm...
I can remember when players were champing at the bit to join Spurs or one of the other big clubs...

The bloke lost to leicester and ipswich at home ffs. Im sorry he has to go.
That was long before any binning of the league and don’t kid your selves it was. He came out with that BS just a few weeks ago. Before that it was bco we went derp
Into caraboa and we’re still in europa. Before that it was injuries and wait till they are all back. Think he said that Feb time can’t recall exactly when.

We have hired and fired many managers, but the outcome has always been the same - very little in terms of glory, and they get sacked. Now we have some glory, so we still do the sacking?

If that's the case, then what does the next manager have to do to make it to 3 years? Play attractive football and get into the Champon

On that basis, Ange did damn well to win us a trophy, working for Levy. Many have tried and failed, but he worked out what it would take i.e. sacrifice league placings. I would have taken it if you offered it to me at the start of the season i.e. a miserable league outing (but was only -1 goal difference, which is weird), but a cup and CL football next season.

We have to push on now, for real (not like under Poch). I think we all know that we need new players, and ones with experience, not kids for the future.

I thought Levy might have sacked Ange today if he was going to, then I remembers it's a bank holiday, so if he is going to sack him, then surely that's tomorrow?
Thing is he said he was happy with the squad and could handle 4 comps. He rotated for all the Europa group games so had plenty of fresh players. Ok injuries did get in the way for a part but lots of teams don’t rotate much. Dippers, goons etc in pl and CL don’t change team much. Both have maintained a high standard.

He sacked Jol mid-game:bmj:

What is it that Mason and Wells would not have been able to do that Ange did to win the games he did in the EL?
Tbh all Ange did was just out everyone behind the ball. We had no creativity bar the FBs. We had a forward line who have no skill or ability to beat a player. That starting forward line cost almost £200M let that sink in. Disgraceful and people are saying we need to improve that part of the team. Same thing was said last year and we spend nearly £100M on Solanke oddjob and Yang. His tactics were just simple as close your eyes and hope for the best.

a) we played with the same lack of shape and headless pressing until he blocked up a little from the Frankfurt tie.

b) "ineffable nous"? Vague fluff.

c) He literally just gave us a bit more stability by blocking up more and not being kamakazee. Tier 1 basic bitch shit that he otherwise refused to employ which he might well have been pursuaded to finally capitulate to by Wells and Mason themselves.

What specifically is it that Mason did, tactically, in his short spells at the helm for us, that makes him less of a competent tactician that Ange.

Or does it all just come down to vibes?
All Ange did was a Nuno but without the quality counter attacking forwards.

Yep. How I long for the days that you’d open your newspaper in the morning to discover you’d signed Waddle, Gazza, Klinsman, Ginola etc and that that was the first you knew about it
