I thought we wanted Eze but Palace demanded the payment up front. We also wanted Neto but Chelsea beat us to him.

Odobert felt like another cheap-ish punt when we failed with our top choices like we usually do. Another ok player who we will look to replace with another cheap-ish punt when we decide he hasn't met his potential

Did Ange sack all the medical staff in the middle of an injury crisis. No. Guess who did.
Did Ange openly say the squad needed reinforcements in Jan. Yes
Did he get anyone? 2 kids and a final day non starting CB.

Johan Lange has a lot to answer for, he has down FA.

I think your idea of solid and most people’s may differ slightly.

But I will say playing attacking football where losing 3 games out of 3 while scoring 3 goals and conceding 9 is definitely something we have all got used to giving Ange credit for!

Even he acknowledged that it was not working and went full on Italian defensive style football.
He did play attacking football though.

I think he'd have taken Eze over Oddbert all day long if he had that choice. He'd have taken Neto over him too. And there's probably a bunch of strikers He'd have taken over Solanke if we were prepared to pay the wages to secure them.
Like any other manager we've had, our limited wage structure means he has a very limited pool of players in the transfer market to choose from.

Also, we finished 5th last year which would have got us CL if the other British clubs weren't so shit in Europe. If we had CL last summer the transfer window would have been very different. Ododbert and Gray may well have been Eze and Gallagher types but because we had EL, they decided to go younger IMO.

You have to take in to consideration the talent at his disposal. Australia is not exactly a football nation. We played out of our skin with a style that would embarrass a lot of nations. If only we had more talent.

Holy shit we’re actually praising him for losing every single game with the worst GD because they attacked. The cultists are not ok.

Australia might not be talented but nor are many sides who do OK at tournaments and Australian teams have done OK at tournaments in the past.

All any of you are proving is how shite his methods are without a massive talent advantage.

I'll happy wager that we will be in the title race next season
On the basis that every team at the start of the season is technically in the title race, then obviously you will be correct.

If you are saying that you believe Spurs will be realistically in with a shot of winning the title, with say being within 6 points of the lead with 10 matches to go with Ange in charge of us, then I will wager you any amount of money you like that won’t happen.

This isn't a cheat code it's idiotic and borderline theft under the trades descriptions act , perhaps a wee note to people spending hundreds each week to watch what you are now claiming we're glorified freindlies. It's utterly disgusting. He should be fired for this admission alone
The higher ups at the club must have been informed and agreed to it, I would think. I know Postecoglou said it was his decision to focus on Europa rather than the league but I doubt he can decide that when the prize money for the Premier League goes up by about £3m per position upwards.

A player, especially one as erratic as Romero, can’t dictate the club’s direction.

He's not dictating anything. The club is dictating his decision.

For me it's really simple, there isn't a coach on the market that I'm sure enough about to lose Romero for and it's not certain enough for me that the manager and squad CAN'T build from this EL win.

Sport isn't always as logical as people make out. Belief is much more powerful than fans and media realize for elite athletes. They have all reached a level that millions dream of and to do that, they had to rely on an irrational amount of self belief. Now that self belief in this squad is connected to winning and also connected to this manager.

You have to be brave enough to let that succeed or fail after the EL. You can't just cut it short, unless you want to go straight back to being a nothing club that wins nothing but occasionally outperforms it's wages in the league.

I keep Ange and Romero and see what next season looks like. Iraola, Frank, Silva or whatever...all those guys are still there if we want them in December and if they aren't there, will be another one just like them. There is always a manager like those guys in the PL.
