Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Agree you either back the guy properly or don't back him at all, all this 10 matches business is stupid, you're not committing to anything other than sentiment.

The problem is that backing for this board means that they do it half arsed...Ange's system thrives on having top players who can make a difference, go and get your Eze's and Mbuemo's if your serious and want Ange to succeed if you don't then we're gonna be talking about another wasted season.

Unfortunately I don't think the board pull their finger out for him because why would they, they haven't done it for anyone else hence why I'm more in favour of him leaving.

I dunno it's not an easy decision either way but the only way the board justify keeping him on is if they are going to go big in the TW, can't see it personally.
He didn’t want eze last summer he preferred players like Solanke and oddbert.

The really concerning thing is this started in the last third of the previous season. This isnt a dip in form, injuries or concentrating on the Europa, its systemic. 28 league defeats out of the last 49 games.

Why does anyone think this will improve? What happens, as is quite possible given the trajectory, we lose 3 or 4 of our first 5 games next season? He isnt getting 5 top class players this summer and even if we did manage that would you not rather see them under a good manager? You shouldnt have to buy world class talent to prop up your inadequate manager anyway.

As ever with these owners we need a manager that can improve individuals and get more out of the team than the sum of its parts and that certainly isnt Postecoglou.
100% Ange cannot coach a team to play good solid attacking football. It’s just throw your cards in the air and see what happens. How comes a 32 yr old rookie can get his Brighton team to play football we could only dream about. Whilst spending far less on players most of which we would shit on. His had one season only. I’d like our team to play like Brighton with our better players. Not too much to ask!

Not sure what you mean by just posting 17th? Like it's definitive evidence of being fraudulant?

- Noun.

'a person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities.'

Did he categorically state that he has the skill set to never finish as low as 17th?

The only thing he ever claimed was that he ALWAYS wins a trophy in his 2nd season.....so unless you have evidence that during his interview with Levy he stated that he will never finish 17th, I think fraud is the wrong term.

Unsuitable, unacceptable, tactically naive are all terms I'd use to describe Ange's management of the club.....but he's never been fraudulant.

I don't think Ange is fraudulent. I just don't think he's good enough at this level. He may have won a cup but, anyone one on any given day can do that. He lucked out. 22 defeats cannot be ignored

I’m not sure you have ever watched a Royal Rumble Mrs P.

But to get you up to speed.

Arthur Rowe tries a surprise push-and-run on Venables—but Harry sees it coming and tips Rowe over the ropes! (Elimination #12: Arthur Rowe)

(Clearly Venables and Redknapp have formed a tag team. The WideBoys.)
and

Keith Burkinshaw—He’s grappling with Ange Postecoglou near the ropes. Ange, fired up after eliminating George Graham earlier, channels that aggression and uses a running big boot to send Keith over the top rope! (Elimination #13: Keith Burkinshaw)

Harsh on the two legends but according to Mr Chat this is what would happen. Or possibly has happened in an alternate universe.

I completely agree with you there. I'm not excited about next season. If we'd finished 5th again, and won the cup, and invested, I think there would be real excitement about what we could do next season.
However I just can't see it under Ange.

Newcastle have been a better team than Spurs this season.
Can't argue with that...
Yup, Facts are facts....
... even their opponent in their cup final was far superior than who we beat in ours.
Up for debate, and slightly irrelevant, as you COULD argue that Liverpool had priorities elsewhere....

Anyway, the point is, whilst all of those points have true elements to them, here we are, Spurs AND Newcastle both in the Champions League...

...and at least WE didn't have to wait until the final day of the season to discover OUR fate in the CL!!!

ALL I'm saying is, at the start of the season, the rules said whoever wins the EL Trophy gets a place in the CL next season...
There was NO caveat to where that team was obliged or required to finish in their respective domestic League table....

No we don't deserve CL football based on our league position... But then again, we're not trying to appeal to UEFA's compassionate side by asking to be let in anyway
... We did what was required and won the ONE trophy (other than the League) that gets you CL football.
Had Newcastle 'just' won the League Cup but finished 6th, they would NOT be where we are...

Face it, we beat the SYSTEM!

...and in doing so, have sent the rest of football into meltdown cause the CAN'T HANDLE THR TRUTH!

Newcastle deserve their place based on league position.... We deserve ours based on winning the Europa League!!

Sounds fair to me.... I don't see the problem officer!

both their CVs are terrible compared to Ange. iraola has won one pre season cup in cyprus then got sacked by his team in cyprus because he didnt win a game for two months. frank has won nothing in denmark or england.

Incredible isn’t it. “A trophy winning manager is a trophy winning manager, but a new mystery manager could be anything. They could even be a trophy winning manager!”

This isn't a cheat code it's idiotic and borderline theft under the trades descriptions act , perhaps a wee note to people spending hundreds each week to watch what you are now claiming we're glorified freindlies. It's utterly disgusting. He should be fired for this admission alone

Lol because Liverpool aren’t fucking shit like United. Even United created stuff. Liverpool would’ve battered down the door. They have actual creative players and athleticism and individual goals across the pitch.

When are we going to fundamentally accept that the way we played worked because we played a team as bad as we are? It was a shit off. We scraped it through a hilariously scrappy goal and clung on.

I will gladly take the EL win but we were up against a team that were terrible and played terrible so we got a break at long last to break our trophy drought. We are unlikely to be as fortunate again so a change is needed for all concerned .

Oh come on, no they didn't. The odd half chance but we completely snuffed them out. With our fit and rested defense, no creativity available in midfield, and knowing that United are in fact shit, it was a setup to win that one all-or-nothing game. We were well worth the 1-0.

Far, far from a tactical masterclass and strange in the context of Ange's words and deeds about tactics previously, but it's ridiculous to make that performance a stick to beat him with.

40 I'll grant you. 38 was a disgrace and I do believe others would have done better even under the same circumstances, it really couldn't have been any worse.

But anything above like 50 would be pure fantasy. The league form was primarily dictated by the availability of bodies with form and fitness to give to league games.

It needs to be very different next season. Is Ange capable of building and maintaining a squad that can sustain quality twice a week for a full campaign at elite physical level? Many reasons for doubt.
Tell you what, shall we just hand back the Europa League trophy (seeing as we're SO undeserving!) in exchange for what people deem an acceptable number of league points, they still probably wouldn't have got us into the Top 5...

Our aim this season was to WIN A TROPHY ✓
...and somehow qualify for the Champions League ✓✓

We did BOTH... with ONE TROPHY!!

yes, the League was piss poor as a result, but I wouldn't swap last Wednesday-Sunday for anything
... Least of all an 'acceptable' 6th place finish and NO trophy, which would be had us pretty much back to where we started in August!

What does this emotional nonsense have to do with whether we should keep the coach or not? We know we won it. We know that doesn’t make Ange good automatically as we can all reel off cup winning coaches who aren’t good.

This thread is for debating. We all know that trophy + CL qualification is a good result on paper but people are questioning the method and if we will ever progress.

There will be no Europa league to enter next year, no Bodo or United in a final to save us, so you’ll be staking everything on the horrific league form drastically improving. Good luck.

Come on...this is demonstrably false - unless you count things like the Audi cup, etc.

As much as I admit that I'm caught up in the romanticism of the occasion, I'm no more keen than anyone else to watch another PL season of the dross we've been served up under Ange.

Of course, 22 defeats cannot be ignored, but to say anyone on their day can win a major trophy is frankly absurd. At the risk of sounding like a broken record - he's the first bloke in 41 years to do this for this club!!!
