Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Eze's injury history ain't great....... Knowing our luck he'll fall to pieces the moment we got him through the door.

I was thinking the same, the same kind of fragility as Madders

Also Eze is the same age as Madders was when he joined

Frank wants all his players to run through walls for the team, fitness is essential. Maybe Eze is not the answer tbh

I expect we are now exploring the possibility of developing an interest that could lead towards a concrete interest, in potentially making contacts with representatives before a serious offer package is constructed with the possibility of submitting opening enquiries to discover if some players are interested in engaging in preliminary talks through their intermediaries if the possibility of considering an initial personal term discussion could begin the opening stages before a package is considered by the transfer commitee to put forward to the board for securing the war chest funds available for what could eventually become the full agreement between player and club, opening the path to initialise what could be club to club negotiations towards the transfer of a player to Tottenham - now Maddison is fucked.

Exciting days ahead for these forums.

Now who is glad we kept our powder drier than the Aatacama Desert . People were laughing and slagging off Levy for being an allegedly tight-fisted, incompetent , arrogant , know nothing , disingenuous, odd wee fella . Or maybe that was me , I very rarely post on this topic so can’t remember what I last said as it was many many years ago .

Then bang our worst fears on Maddison confirmed and like a Jaguar stalking a Cayman he springs into action for Levytime. I am going out for lunch confident that a man with 35 years experience in running football clubs will know exactly what is required and will now expedite accordingly.

I am so very excited to get back after lunch to see what top quality replacement we have signed

My Chairman 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪

Seriously concenred for us this season with the way we are lining up.

Where are our goals coming from?

We've lost Son and Maddison, they are our chief goalscorers and assists.

What exactly do the club think they are doing going into a new season without signing more attacking talent?

Kudus, Tel and Odobert are not goalscorers, not proven, not reliable. Kudus can make things happen but he's not prolific.

Are we really relying on Solanke and Johnson?

Fucking hell. We are fucked. This season will be a shit show. It won't be Frank's fault, jhe's being hung out to dry.
:johnsonshh:

Focusing on the price of the player isn’t really the point. If El Khannouss didn’t have a relegation clause Leicester would probably be asking for 35m or more.

Ultimately, I like us getting players under their market value. The problem I have is Levy not weighing that with ensuring the squad is correctly balanced too.

El Khannouss’s numbers suggest he was being very creative last season in a very poor team. While he’s no Maddison replacement in terms of being a proven scorer and assisted over a number of years, he does have potential to get the ball moving creatively for us, and at the moment that is the biggest shortfall in this squad by a long way.

I wouldn't mind signing him as a back up option / prospect.

But for him to be our sole number 10 signing, with Maddison out for over a year, maybe forever. Sorry, that is embarassing.

We are run so unambitiously.

We are going into a CL season, with Levy saying he wants to win the league, and we sign El Kannouss as our main number 10 signing? it's beyond belief if it happens.

Levy is mugging us all of.

It's perfectly fine to do it as and when you can, it'd be stupid not to.

It just can't be your primary concern when deciding on transfer targets.

It's not just the odd year issue though, which is why I've said 15 years, and I'm not saying it to be disingenuous, but in that time, we've had one ownership group, we've raked in revenue that brings us 9th in world football, which is ridiculous.

Yet, our chairman refuses to run a big club like it should be run. For 5/6 years, been telling us about regulation changes that will level the playing field. But in that time, those changes haven't come, we're now in the elite when it comes to money coming in, yet we're dead last in wages to revenue. Which means we have no chance at getting top players that will help us make that jump.

We could very easily be spending mega money every year, but it won't happen. Instead of punting £100m on a transformativ player in a position of need. We buy 3 on lower wages, in the hope they can become said £100m player. But our recruitment has been abysmal, hence the huge amount of deadwood we have, and we plug a leak with some tape, which is a quick sideways fix, until it becomes a huge problem, like now.

Others have caught up and overtaken us, like Villa and Newcastle, who, as I say, were relagated in that time period. We've absolutely gone backwards for no other reason than the owners refuse to spend properly, spending on lots of cheap options who need replaced after a year or two is cheating out, backfiring. With most teams around us improving, and us standing still, we're getting pulled into the wrong end of the table.

That's going backwards.

What on earth are you blethering about now? Another comment that just insults rather than engage. Providing no logic or argument. It's expected from you are your cronies, no drama.

This is all you guys do. You and you're little fwends are universally disliked around here by the sounds of it, and this is why.

Ah found the quote. Yep, on that case, I misread a word because I was doing work. I have since apologized and deleted my comment because I was wrong. I'm absolutely not too proud to admit of I've fucked up or gotten something wrong. It's called being an adult. You, well, the less said the better.

Then they should stop holding the club for ransom, and turn it over to people who can run it. I've been saying the same thing that Levy, because ENIC have checked out, doesn't have the personal wealth to run a football club this size, how it should be run.

We're treading water now, teams that have been relegated quite recently are now finishing ahead of us, and teams struggling to stay in the league a few years ago are more our direct rivals than or rivals for years.

They've done good things, no question, but they've taken us as far as they can go with how modern football is now run, and or trajectory is only heading one way.

No. Grealish is a very skilful player. I honestly think him, JP and MK, plus keeping Romero, would make this a pretty good window.

When we get Madders (if?) and Kulu back, we'd be well stacked for creative players.

The team will have much more steel, and much more creativity
Madders out for the season and Kulusevski out until the new year! Jack Grealish is not reliable enough to cover that role until Christmas.

I think the season is done regardless but let's see who we sign.

Yessh...there are so many financial wizards on here I'm surprised they're wasting their time posting on here when they can better use it emailing their thoughts and bending baldy's ear 👂 with their expert business acumen.

Levy's stewardship has steered us from financial weakness to one of strength but I don't think anyone (certainly not on here) outside a very small group of people know the constraints the various covenants entered into with lenders place on our ability to spend.

I don't mention this as an excuse for Levy to run the Club the way he does, on the contrary, I believe his inability to move away from the current business model both for reasons of choice and lack of personal wealth make it patently obvious the time has come for him/ENIC to sell up and move on.....sadly (for him) the profit he makes will be the only credit he will be getting.
And the stadium, of course. And it is a marvel; the standard bearer!

I hope he would wants to win the CF and be remembered for that, rather than the stadium though. Doesn't look like it will be anytime soon. At best, we're building for the future (the team, not the towers). If so, we're looking at a 5 year project. :ange-facepalm2:

Yeah, if we signed, say, Eze and El Khannous, brilliant. Depth and options. Proven quality and potential.

Even Grealish and El Khannous would be decent in that respect.

But we will just sign someone like El Khannous (like we did with Odobert and Tel) and expect them to be the finished article. And none of them are.

One thing is for sure, if we're bringing in 2/3 more we need to get a fucking move on.

need a 10 in at the vert last by this time next week for Burnley.

I think I've given up hope us getting anything from PSG
:sonmask:

Sold Son, Maddison out for the season and Kulusevski out for the first half of the season. Moore gone out on loan.

Kudus the only attacking signing made!

Anyone thinking we are going into this season stronger than last season need their heads checked! The squad has gotten even worse!

Our only hope is that some of these younger players (Gray, Bergval, Tel, Odobert) take a massive step forward and become top class players. Because if they don't then we are simply just a midtable team with midtable players!

Apparently Kudus is already our best attacker according to some on here and he wasn't even the best attacker at West ham the last few seasons! Come on. Let's be totally honest. This has been a pathetic window and we are going into this season weaker than last season!
