Player Rodrigo Bentancur

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I find it odd that the retractable pitch has not been investigated as one of the factors in the disproportionate injuries Spurs players have incurred in recent seasons.

The pitch was the world's first of it's type so any potential issues, regarding the safety of the playing surface, are an unknown quantity at present.

Some artificial and plastic pitches were historically known to increase the risk of injury. This was due to the layers beneath the playing surface.

Opposition players only play on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pitch once a season.

Some Spurs players play on it for 19 league games and the other cup fixtures too.

If there was an issue with the playing surface then presumably the more you play on it; the greater your risk of injury.
To be fair... Most of OUR players have only actually PLAYED on it once or twice this season!!!

The rest has been leisurely strolling around it!

Looks like we’re really making the bloke suffer…

“We can confirm that Rodrigo Bentancur has undergone surgery on his right hamstring.

The Uruguay international midfielder suffered the injury during our Premier League fixture at Bournemouth last week and will now commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff.”

Yep... Been saying it for a while.. whilst these top end pitches are flat and billiard table true and soft to the initial touch .. Underneath they are like f€€cing concrete... So the long term physical effects are unknown...

Bac to bente... .. tbh thought the last injury visibly took its toll on his flexibility and mobility... 3 months out and then a bit part getting match fit will take him into may? So I'm thinking that's more or less the season over for him.. and wouldn't be surprised to see him move on during the summer.

He has to go now after the Gallagher singing. Sarr too, I think will be out the door. Even forgetting those two, we'll have Xavi, Madders, Bergvall and Gallagher all essentially vying for a spot as is, unless you shoehorn one out wide.

Will anyone sign him knowing he wont the bac to best until the endish of the season?...not totally unlikely.. but it's a push... As you say when he does return they'll be a lot of players Infront of him .. we could be totally wrong but ATM can't really see a way bac for him, the only question mark is when will he leave .. we'll c.
Edit , another nail is his contract is up in July...

Oh lol it was up, but they extended his contract. I don't see it being an issue moving him tbh, but we might get £10-15m when we do. But he has to be moved now.

Such a shame about his ACL, before that, he was our best player that season and he's just never recovered.

I don’t think the details of his contract have been revealed but it’s speculated that it’s until the end of 28/29.
He was on £75k base (+18k in add-ons) so a small increase would give him £80-85k plus. Don’t know too many teams in cash-strapped Europe that would be interested in him even if he gets back to the form of last couple of years. (I suppose it’s entirely possible that he didn’t get a raise for guaranteed years).

I reckon he'll get a few offers from Italy and some from. Spain. Really don't think it'll be an issue moving off him. A few others I do. But not him. He's still serviceable, especially in Italy with time on the ball.

Yeah - think there will be plenty of clubs happy to take him off our hands. His wages will still be pretty high by most Italian/Spanish club's standards so I doubt we'd get much in the way of a transfer fee given his age (turns 29 this summer). Like 10m quid or something, at a guess?

If we make it clear he's available I'd be surprised if there aren't buyers interested.

Yeah I said in the post before like £10-15m would be very easily attainable. And from a PSR point standpoint pure profit. I'm not worried about getting him shifted.

Agree- folks have brought up this point again and again and been labeled crazy for it- but does anyone really know the compound effect of 10k steps (trials) on 4" down concrete instead of soil? Even a 1% change across 10k+ trials could add up to chronic injury problems.

I think we can get 10-15m for him- provided hes been fit for half a season when we try to sell him. There's a good chance we won't even get that far, and especially not if some coach wants to use him as liberally as Frank had this past half a season...

That’s true but who pays their players £90k pw in Italy? Would guess only 4 or 5 clubs and around 7 or so players per club (their best players)

I fear it could be worse than that.

Imagine if they suspected, or worse, understood the TH Stadium pitch may be a contributing factor in the increased amount of injuries to the players, would they want that suspicion made public?

Would they want to rip up the NFL pitch and just have a grass pitch?

Would that even be possible with the karting track and car parks etc?

They haven't even had a window to address anything... Oh sorry.... 13 days...

Complete Levy fan boi delusions.

With respect are you a bit slow?

We are talking about Bentancur's new contract, he signed it in early October, Levy left the club in early September, can we please use some common sense and stop protecting these new bozos.

I wasn't referring to the contract part of the post, rather the more general Protecting the new regime, deflecting back Levy the Oozing Cunt Fungus comment.

I know Bents got a new contract after he left...

But then Bents should have been sold that summer IMO, along with Richie, Davies, and many others.

And wasn't Bents contract up at the end of the year?

One of the 'things ' that goas by the way is the amount of ex footballers that have health issues DIRECTLY related to playing football.. and that's in the main from training/playing on grass..and I know from personal experience 'astro' turf is a nightmare on joints/ligaments. And my cuz apparently can't drive for long spells and had umpteen ops on his knees.. and that's from playing pro on grass..... can't begin to imagine the long term effects of these new pitches ... Could very well be Pretty scary and yeah would they want it known.? .. My imagination is running over time here 😱
....I'm thinking.... film.. young super star has no serious injuries during a glittering career , yet ends up in a wheel chair or crutches.... Looking further into it publicly blaming the pitches and uncovering a seedy world of corp cover ups 😎..
