Slight echoes of us and Frank.
Totally unproven at the very highest level and respective pressure, so it might be Iraola, although he was being strongly linked with the Milan job.
Iraola is miles better than Frank lol

Apparently Liverpool didn't want Alonso, as they don't like his style of play. According to a journalist on Radio 5, a couple of weeks ago.
Anything from Milan though?

Had missed that, ty
Not necessarily as Alonso is still relatively new to it all but he did feel nailed on to take over at Liverpool.
I think it's a bit of a shock that they've fired slot now after missing out on Alonso because if they'd have acted quicker...
Alonso would certainly have the fans onside from the start, it would have been a massively popular appointment.
Ha. Love him. But you are forgetting we still got
Saw some dippers saying Liverpool weren't prepared to give Alonso a big say over transfer strategy, so they were never seriously in for him.Agreed. I'd find it gobsmacking if they had already considered Alonso but weren't interested. I wonder if he's getting some buyers remorse at Chelsea already.
Still, I won't complain. Their drop off this year was quite something, Salah is gone, and who knows how high we might be able to climb if we sign the right players, things with De Zerbi 'click', and only have domestic football to worry about.
Yeah which is kind of ironic given pre-Alonso Chelsea were probably the club that gave their coaches the least say over transfer strategy in the entire league.Saw some dippers saying Liverpool weren't prepared to give Alonso a big say over transfer strategy, so they were never seriously in for him.
Alonso previously turned them down. It’s not a given that he wants to go there. Dippers can’t get over the fact a manager might not want them.Saw some dippers saying Liverpool weren't prepared to give Alonso a big say over transfer strategy, so they were never seriously in for him.
I think Iraola if he goes there, and can get them flowing would stand a better chance than Slot would have done. Better chance of competing with that lot, City, and United.
I also think it might be a matter of resources, and whether the Liverpool hierarchy think Iraola can get more out of less than what Slot might have wanted to bring into the club. All speculative of course.
lololololllolollollAndoni Iraolla - 4/7
Sebastian Hoeness - 4/1
Julian Nagelsmann - 13/2
Ryan Mason - 7/1
Luis Enrique - 8/1
Oliver Glasner - 9/1
Jurgen Klopp - 9/1
Unai Emery - 11/1
Steven Gerrard - 12/1
Yeah it's a huge step up. Never managed a big club, never managed in Europe, wasn't a well known player outside of Spain.I’m not sure iraola can win them the league though, which is what they want.
The Slot arc reminds me a lot of the Ten Haag arc at United.
2 very hyped bald dutch blokes that really nearly came to Spurs, had good/great first seasons in the Premier League making me thinking 'ffs why didn't we appoint them' only for them to completely shit the bed and come across as bellends before getting sacked.
Ten Haag always gave me odd vibes but the way Slot completely fell off is quite surprising. Feel like nothing really worked for him this season and he got a lot wrong. Came across as very arrogant by the end - like he won the title and bought into his own hype?
