2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA 14th June - 15th July

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Watching all the videos of people celebrating I have to be honest it's making me emotional.

I'm ill anyway but it's actually cheered me up, so much sheer joy and ecstasy. That bloody song (which I don't like) running around my head!

Takes me back to a time when I was getting ready to go to uni, full of optimism and promise for my future. The country came together in a big way that summer but this has exceeded it and then some.

To all the misery guts out there, please give it a rest. Let us enjoy it. We aren't favourites but we are one of only four teams left in the Cup and have a chance of winning it. Even if we don't Gareth and the boys have done us proud.

Isn't that all we can ask of them?

Come on England!

Yes mate but as importantly in what has become a mad world, hope you get back to sound health. It being a priceless commodity.

Thank you very much, I hope so too!

Believe it or not though, England's progress has cheered me up and also a lot of sick guys in here with me.

Think of that scene in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest when Mac is 'describing' the events of the World Series baseball game. Getting all the boys riled up and full of beans.

It's been very emotional in here, let me tell you. I'm going home this afternoon though then the long road to recovery begins.

If England go all the way it would be great but it's not as important as health, nothing is.

I'd try and get whoever is playing Jack Nicholson to take you all on a boat trip for the semi could be epic !

Not necessarily expecting the same form but i.m not expecting him to lose the basics of football, ie dribbling the ball and beating a player. It doesn't matter where on a pitch you are playing, that basic skill doesn't change. The same for scoring, if you are clean through with only the keeper to beat, it doesn't matter what system you are playing in, that shouldn't change.
I think it's more a mental thing with him, I don't think the bull crap surrounding his tattoo and the slating of him helped.
Like I say, I just hope he turns up in the next game because he can be the difference.
But he did dribble the ball, he carried the ball +20yrs a number of times during the game, moved us up the pitch, had their defenders facing their own goal. They resorted to fouling him, we had lots of free kicks off the result of it (Kane did this too), this is a good thing seeing as we are good from set pieces. He got behind their defence, won corners which is a good thing because we are good at corners (and I hate corners). All the pressure we were building on Sweden yesterday he was integral part of, rather than re-watch the whole game again just watch the 60 seconds or so before each goal we scored (2 or 3 phases before). Sweden were on the ropes, this wasn't a soak it up kind of pressure, easy for them to defend against, they were hoofing it anywhere up the pitch, our front players switch positions, coming short whilst others going long, passes between and behind their back four, proper pressure (no semi-circle of doom on the edge of the box).

I think the whole tattoo thing is long gone, the overwhelming public response to this actually got the majority behind him I feel, I think it turned out to be quite positive for him. My take is he should either of scored or squared it to Kane to score when he brought down the ball leaving him 1v1 with the 'keeper, everyone screamed at their TV sets, including me! (the other opportunity he had same response but wouldn't have counted because he was offside). To me 90% of the criticism towards him these two moments been at the root of it. Just my take.

But without him we absolutely don't have the same control of the game, he is absolutely integral part of what we do and how we are playing.

I agree he's important to how England play but he also deserves critism for his total lack of composure at critical moments , he's worse than Theo walnut in terms of end product and could easily have been in contention for player of the tournament if the brain fog didn't descend upon him in the vital moments.

Fair enough, I think we are going to have to agree to disagree on this.

Show me where I said that.
You are not the only person who understands the game you know.
Stirling is also on the pitch to score goals and at the moment he is useless at doing so, and is costing us goal opportunities by fluffing his and not giving up the ball to better placed players.
He can be magnificent at what the video says but doing it away from the goal doesn't help.
Kane did a better job of providing unselfish support and Sterling achieved very little of value.
Pointless story, as it doesn't explain Stirling's woeful strike rate
Wrong on every single count you make mate.

No point me responding with more detail than in my previous posts, as it gets boring for all, I've made my points and have even tried to back them up with far more eloquently built piece (one that I 100% agree with) than I could possibly do, but if you judge him on two moments in a game of 90mins, then so be it, nothing that is said will have you open your eyes to something you are blind to see and not prepared to be open to either.
