Match AFC Bournemouth VS Tottenham Hotspur. Saturday 26th August 2023. Vitality Stadium 12:30pm KO

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

At a festival all weekend and finally have signal! Great result. Can someone quickly tell me who the standouts were please?
IMO, Maddison and Bissouma were absolutely huge. Udoggie was great, and Kulu came alive and scored a goal. Vicario was really solid and one good save, albeit he is a bit casual playing it out, but no mishaps. Richy cannot seem to get the ball in position to score.

I thought this was our most chaotic game so far. The only time it felt like we had sustained control was after the second goal. Which is at least a good thing - that we didn’t just shrink and invite pressure. We also had a 15 minute spell from about 10-25th minute, but apart from those spells we didn’t really control the other phases.

I thought we were actually pretty meh between the 25-65 minutes, the least convincing we’ve been so far. I was quite surprised to hear Ange’s comments post game that seem to suggest he was really happy with the performance - hopefully just TV speak.

I was actually quite impressed by Bournemouth’s application for an hour of this game.

The first goal was really a midfield tribute act. Bissouma starts the move by turning out of a press, feeding Sarr, who plays a lovely through ball which is nicely finished by Maddison. And as with other games the midfield was the star of the show for us, with Romero playing one of his better games for us as well. Maddison spending more time in deeper areas today, helping us cope with the Bournemouth press, which he did well.

Kulusevski's movement was really good for his goal, after great work by Udogie, but the rest of his game today was incredibly underwhelming. He wasted two or three great situations with dithering or bumbling the final ball/action. Son was livelier, but also contributed little of discernible quality. Likewise Richarlison, who did put in some effort, but there's a lack of composure and quality in much of what he does.

WE MUST ADD SOME QUALITY TO THIS ATTACKING GROUP

Having watched the match again, have to say Richie really needs to step up.

He's had 3 games now and he's still no closer to getting anywhere near scoring. He had a great opportunity where he could have smashed it first time, but he always seems to want to take another touch.

I'm worried he's going to be our Timo Werner

I so badly want him to succeed, but the whole situation is reminding me more and more of Soldado and Jannsen when their chances were few and far between, but when they did get a chance they completely fluffed it.

Thanks mate. Ange really has got the whole team playing well. Two more new scorers to the list today. Hopefully it will come for Richy.

Fucking hell, we've played alot away haven't we?

Got another 2 away games and an international break before we play our next home game!
Better to get the back-to-back away fixtures out of the way early though, and they could've definitely been harder than Bournemouth followed by Burnley, our other b2b away fixtures this season are Villa and Fulham in March so actually a pretty good turn tbh, we get the privelege of playing Woolwich and City at home b2b in April, could actually be quite big to have those two so late in the calendar if we are anywhere near that end of the table come then.

No his too casual thinks his a baller and you do t want him going wondering g leaving his post.
They'de started to exploit the RHS of our box.. and pullin out our CBS. Giving us grief . Emerson is a very good around that area.. however there's more ways to resolve a situation fair play to our manager, he made subs gave them problems on the LHS and that changed the momentum of the game.. f .. perhaps i need to update my train of thought. On reflection perhaps I'm thinkin old school Conte/muri style, cos I'm pretty sure that's what they would have done. But as I said fair play to Ang...

I watched a different game to you - Bournemouth had a quick start but we soon got on top and quickly learnt to break their press -,took a deserved lead and should have been more than 1 in front at half time - 2nd half Bournemouth started well and were on top subs Perisic and Hojbjerg settled us and 2nd goal pretty much settled the game and we bossed the final 25 minutes for a deserved win

Although Bournemouth were decent I can’t see them getting near the top 10 (which is looking so competitive) so this is a game we should be looking to win but so early into the season I’m seeing progression in every match and I am confident there is more to come

Hopefully we can get an undefeated run going for next 4-6 games and he can play himself into form. But I’m the second half he just lost it. He wears his heart on his sleeve so you can see so clearly when his head his down.

If he can’t get his first touch right soon he’s in trouble

Think that’s spot on. Opening minutes of each half bmouth were on top and looked very good. Then we took control for the most part apart from end of first half. Hopefull Ange the team look at that and also last week. Think if we had a better and faster attack trans wouldn’t press us as high. As they will know we have quick forwards. I’m sure they are not too fussed if kulu gets the ball in our half and has acres of space to run into as he ain’t got the legs to get away. Better forwards and we control even more of games. Also press could be better from forwards. Kulu”s press is so half hearted.
