Conte wasnt as dependent on high octane out of possession and high octane in possession.
Rotation while needed isnt as necessary as Anges system

This was my reply to this

Players run way more in terms of distances playing that type of football because they are constantly chasing shadows. Less sprints, more load on the joints. Like sprint training vs marathon training. Muscle injuries or joint and ligament injuries, you just pick your poison. Professional sport is bad for the human body either way.

The idea that one is less intense than the other is context free, narrative soup.

And our injuries that season match that.

Bentancur: ACL
Bissouma: Ankle
Lloris: Knee
Richarlison: everything broke down under Conte

Players were complaining about running more in training the day before a game than they did in the actual game.

I think that also matches the knee injuries you see from the running load and pure KMs covered by Dragusin and Solanke since our injury crisis meant they had to play every game this season.

Postecoglou - "You can judge me..."

Thanks Ange. I shall. It was a worthwhile experiment, but sadly you've failed, and in doing so you've wreaked quite a bit of havoc on my dear club. Hopefully we'll survive in the division this season, but it won't be with you. Good luck with your future career. Bye.

Judgement over.

Porro seems to always leave so much space behind him, i've lost count of the amount of times he has done this , If I was manager I would have tried Reggie at LB and Spence at RB, however the fact that Porro still gets picked makes me think Ange wants him pressing up like a mad man leaving acres of space behind him for the centre backs to cover.

There was a passage of play when they got behind us yesterday and he came bombing back into shot he was that far up the pitch.

There’s attacking fullbacks and there’s suicidal tactics! This was the latter!

Anges tactics:

In possession “Charge”
Out of possession “Charge” into a press, the trigger being any turnover.
In defence “Charge” usually back as we are soo out of structural shape.

Then, when the players show ability to adapt a little against Brentford, we can’t build on it, so we go back to “Charge”.

Brentford was shit. We got lucky. Tried the same shit at Liverpool and got punished.

Centre of the pitch is wide open as per usual, so let's try to figure out how that happened this time. Bergvall is pressing high while Tel is also trying to help him, so how they're positioned and what they're doing make sense. But why is Bentancur covering LB, which opens up the centre? Because our LB Spence, for whatever reason, is even higher up the pitch than LW (Tel). Our RB (Porro) is not in a much better position himself, standing inside the centre circle next to #41. If the guy on the ball gets away from Bergvall and also avoids Tel on the way, which is quite routine stuff for players at this level, then there's a massive space to exploit. Let's see;

He's away, so the scramble starts.

From this point on it's a straigtforward pass to #41 for a clear cut chance. Danso is occupied with another runner (#17) himself so he can't possibly cover #41, and there's nobody else in the close vicinity.

#41 will receive the pass, and have his 1v1 attempt saved by Kinsky afterwards.

I don't feel like doing this anymore, as the point should be obvious to anyone. Our team defense hangs by a thread regardless of the scoreline, time, personnel, or any other possibly relevant variable. It's this way by design.

In the 1st and 2nd picture - what exactly is Bissouma doing? He's standing on the halfway line, 2 or 3 yds from Porro doing absolutely nothing with his hands at his sides, and yet the Villa 8 is all on his own 15yds closer to the ball. Bissouma should have been there, to mark that player and also to cut out Villa's passing options.

We may all think whatever we want about Ange, and what he said at that presser.

BUT finally a Spurs manager calling out the press/pundits for what they are, biased, Spurs-hating, fanboy cunts!!!

Neeh, he is trying to save his face.
Finding excuses that do not pass the most basic of logic checks.
Media should actually be asking even much more difficult questions.

Like "Hi Ange. Lot has been told about very intense playing schedule, lack of rest and injuries piling up. All of that is surely something to keep in mind, but when we remember tail end of last season, there was just one competition and lot of injured players returning. Yet the results left lot to be desired. What should give fans confidence than end of this season will be any different?".

He is just trying to save his face and keep himself "employable" in future as well.
But I doubt it works, given the actual results he has served, I cannot see any top level side going anywhere near him. Turkish/Netherlands/Belgium leagues are as high as he could dream for I guess. It's not like he is up and coming lad either at 60 years of age.

His positioning and general apathy was very noticeable yesterday.

Desperately needs upgrading in the summer.

Such a disappointment as we thought we were getting a midfield general to boss the centre of the park!

I think this highlights the fragility of the system and the perfect storm that has sabotaged it.

This reply to the question matches perfectly to what the sports science guy said at Celtic

Hansi Flick is the same at Bayern but they have been able to control games. Ange a was able to control games at Celtic and when it has worked here, we have controlled games.

The issue is that injuries compound the load on the available players and the extra load of not being in control of games creates a snowball effect.

But in the same way Ange said he was driving the decision to build with young players over older ones, his system and its fragility to game control is his gamble to choose.

Ohnono. Get that phrase off your mouth mate.
I watched Flick Bayern. I enjoyed Flick Bayern. After Jupp Heynckes last spell, it was 2nd most enjoyable watching.

It bares absolutely no similarities to what we have seen for 15 months now.

Flick teams had structure. He did not play with ONE holding midfielder and TWO ATTACKING FULLBACKS to start with.
There was clear and direct attacking passing patterns in place. Also the pressing was timed. It was not that "every single player presses every single second on the field". It is not like that anywhere else.

So saying that "Flick Bayern and Ange Spurs play similarly / same way" is as accurate as to say that "Ford Focus and Bugatti Veyron both have 4 wheels and engine, thus they are as good of a car". Galaxies apart really.

That’s your opinion and you are entitled to decide what you think is or isn’t good football.
