Winning the EL would be HUUUUGE, Massively, bigly HUGE.

I couldn't give a fuck who we beat on the way.

Me neither. We had the hardest draws possible in the league cup and went out late in the competition. To win the EL is a massive result for any club. Baffled why anyone would think any different. It is a much better competition too without the loser CL teams dropping into it. Something that should never had been allowed to happen in the previous incarnation of the competition

Well it's a competition for teams who ended the season in the top part of mid table, or perhaps domestic cup winners that ended the season further down the league than the Europa League places.

It's been our best chance of a trophy all season because of the standard of the opposition. I'm still not confident we'd beat Manchester United if we meet them in the final. Our players could well let the pressure get to them, or United just keep fouling Maddison until he goes off injured and our attacking play is then significantly weakened.

We should do the same to Fernandes. Without him they have no creativity.

The loser CL teams actually gave it some quality sides. Not sure I agree there, it massively upped the pedigree.

Probably. But it added some spice and some genuinely good teams. Now it’s Europe’s mid off.
I think the quality is reduced massively, the fact the final could be between 2 prem teams having their worst seasons in 48 and 51 years says it all. But its a much more interesting, improved competition for it. It was always absurd CL teams dropping in half way through, made the qualifiers academic. A Europa league place is genuinely worth getting now.

It's a fun and interesting competition now though (and actually has been for a few years). I'd be more than happy to be in it every other year and become England's Sevilla. We are never going to win the league under Levy so we might as well get into some competitions we have a chance of winning.

Ergh. I get why you say it but we have so much potential beyond being England’s answer to Sevilla.

The trophy would be amazing and it’s a decent enough one to get over the hump, but we can do a lot better long term.

Like I said, not under Levy. He'll never do enough. If they ever go then sure, we may have a say in things but at the moment I think shooting for 5th/6th is all we can do.

Fifth might not get CL never season FWIW just due to the fact so many English teams (up to ten) could be in European competition and the coefficent thereby getting watered down with most of them needing to do well (as happened last season when Man U and Newcastle fucked up in the CL).

I read Bodo were missing some key players. WOW.

Ange fans flipping every stone to find an argument to give Ange credit for anything, well, this is not enough credit. We should be dispatching 4+ goals against full-strength Bodo. Scoring labored 3 goals only and conceding a goal? At home? That's not an endorsing credit IMHO

What’s your definition of long term?

500 years?

The big 100’000??

A Triassic period??

I totally agree with the sentiment that if we win the Europa League, it won’t be due to Ange’s managerial prowess; it’ll be down to the players’ commitment, motivation and their desire to win something. They’ll be the ones dragging this team across the finish line, not him.

As far as I’m concerned, the Premier League is the true barometer of a manager’s quality. It’s the ultimate test of consistency, tactical acumen, and the ability to motivate and adapt. And on all those fronts, Ange has failed massively, I would even say he is one of the worst managers I have ever seen in the PL’s history tbh.

Let’s not allow a potential trophy to rewrite the narrative here and allow emotions to cloud reality.

The last thing this club should do is make the colossal mistake of keeping him on next season, regardless of any silverware he may fluke himself into.

You must be great fun at parties. Spurs won. Wether it was because of Ange, or despite of Ange, doesn't matter. Spurs have a good chance of making the final.

I get that a lot of fans are worried that winning the Europa might mean another season of Ange, but why not just enjoy the moment and worry about next season if it happens?

He has to go even if we won the final with a 5-0 flawless, Barcelona esque performance. The level of consistency shown this season and the amateurish backline we deploy is not acceptable. We are likely to end up breaking the record (21) for the most losses in a premier league season for a team who stayed up.

We benefited massively from the changed format this year. If it was the EL we used to play in, where there was no bye to the last 16 and UCL teams dropping down none of the current semi-finalists would still be in the competition.

Winning the EL would be an amazing trophy for the club, it’s a huge part of our history and we really should have won more, but we need to look at it as a chance to give the next manager a platform to build on, not a chance for an Ange redemption arc.
