I really was starting to believe that as well, but his comments after the game sure sounded like the complete opposite.

Different circumstances and a different personality, but I really do believe Poch would have quit if we'd won in 2019.

Because Poch would actually have achieved the pinnacle whereas Ange has just achieved the pinnacle in the mind of his cultists.

and this is a great example of why you're toxic and disingenuous. it starts as a conversation about sports and then you're taking personal shots and making shit up. same as it ever was

You took that as a personal shot?

Someone needs to go outside for the dayand stop being a tad sensitive.

My bad though ill tone down the banter for you in future.

So, on the topic of awkward truths, I listened to The VFTL and Jack PB pointed out that its really not easy to transform the entire philosophy and style of play mid season like Ange just did. Not many coaches can coach more than one system to any kind of level, let alone finishing 5th in the PL with one, and winning a European trophy with another.

If Ange is dropping the stubborn stuff, there’s clearly a very good coach in there
You're such a moments guy. I bet you're the type whenever a hot chick says hi to you, you think that's it I've met my future wife...even though she's actually a nutter and frigid.

Pal, anybody can play the monstrosity Ange has fed us them last few rounds of the Europa League...proper peak 80s Serie A. I bet even Nuno, Jose, Tony Pulis, Big Sam or George friggin Graham thought "fuck me, that's negative anti-football shit". And that was in a comp with the talent level of the Champo.

Funny how your dearly beloved completely shat on his own football principles & philosophy when he realised the only way to save his job & fat paycheck was to play uber scaredy-cat stuff that we'd have murdered other managers for (Spurs or other teams).

You're tilting at windmills dude.

We've been shit this season and if Ange continues he will be on very thin ice if the caliber of football we've been playing this season continues. We can't just tolerate losing all the time.

AND YET, his absolute #1 remit upon taking over, the same as Jose and Conte, was to break the trophy drought, accomplishing that is a huge fucking deal for the club, worth celebrating and being proud of, and it was his side that had the nous and maturity to do the business away from home in high-pressure situations of do-or-die matches.

Over the past several years we've had brilliant, top-class football. We did not have it this year and we'll need and demand it going forward, but we know it can be done at Spurs even with the Levy handbrake on. What we have NOT had is the steely nerve it takes to lift trophies. Fair fucking play to Big Ange for instilling that, that's a benefit we can carry even when he goes.

Its literally just a Europa League version of what Di Matteo did to get past Bayern, Barcelona etc. And he won the FA cup the same season too.

I'll give Ange credit for doing it, it was better than his actual fucking system and it got us over the line .. but fuck me it's hardly genius.

Yeah this is Ten Hag's second season in a nutshell. Even here the general sentiment has already turned in favour of him it seems, like how the majority of United fans hopped back on the Ten Hag bandwagon after their Fa Cup win. Don't think Levy and co are less fickle than members of this forum, so he's definitely staying.

Bad news is that we will once again be hovering around the relegation zone next year as long as he's in charge. With the addition of CL football to the mix players will continue dropping like flies, and even with a fully fit squad I don't see us winning many games with this incoherent mess that our football has devolved into under him.

Good news is that he most likely won't see the new year, so relegation won't be a serious cause for concern. It'll be another lost season, at least as far as league campaign is concerned, but whatever.

I can tolerate a few more months of him. But I just hope we don't fill the team with his handpicked dross under the name of "backing" him, like how United did with Ten Hag after the latter's Fa Cup win. That would set us back for years.
I'd hold off on predictions. But if forces I still think he is gone think it's 60/40

Steely nerve. Fuck me, I guess Crystal Palace have the stuff of champions too.

Winning trophies is mostly a huge dose of luck and circumstance. Unless we're talking the premier league, champions league, world cup, euros etc where you still need a huge dose of that, but also a huge dose of actual quality and a winners mentality because its THE cup all other winners are in.

The EL is a huge slice of "who is actually going to take this seriously" and if you're there you can win it. Some better penalties and Rangers would have lifted this shit.

Anyway, I'm not gonna let the fucking fanatics who want to make this football political instead of accepting it for what it is ruin a great night. Like I said, boring as hell.
