Did they win a European Trophy? No. Did they provide good league seasons? No.

Trophies won by Harry Redknapp at Spurs: 0
Trophies won by Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs: 0.

Brilliant league seasons. No fucking trophies.

I have now witnessed Spurs win a European Trophy live. Nothing else matters right now. I'm sad for you that you don't understand this.
I watch Ricky Villa...Tony Parks penalty shoot out...Walker's extra time own goal, pulsating stuff not the drab final this year

The UEFA cup in those days include the second to fourth place teams of the respective league, not the dross you get today

Can we sack the fat clown now

The blinkered view of.... a manager who won us a trophy so should be backed and continue in charge is nonsense! Particularly as the same manager openly admitted in a press conference that from January this year he binned off the league, dicing with relegation to focus on The EL!!!
Please! Anyone who buys into and applauds that sort of managerial mindset and can't see that 90% of our performances over the past 18 months have been nothing short of turgid, deserves another season under him. But I for one won't be watching this clowns efforts next season.

As I said, not enough to keep him in my opinion - just can see a world where it is for the club.

And we could have lost. We’ve lost loads of important matches in the years since we won a pot. Lots of fine teams and managers have failed to get us there. Ange succeeded. It’s more than one match. More than one win. That’s the progress I can see being part of the club’s decision.
I think the opposite.

The club will be objective and use the league form as the metric.

Getting the trophy monkey off our back was awesome, but it’s an emotional decision to keep him on that basis. I don’t see the board as emotional types.

Out of curiosity, is anyone able to tell me our xg, shots on goals, touches in box, progressive dribbles or field tilt etc from the 84 final?

Winning on pens sounds more of a blag than within 90 mins but we never talk about the 84 win like that, against an absolute European minow.
Have a look at Anderlecht's record in Europe between 75 and 83 and come back on that "absolute European minow [sic]" comment.

This forum is headed for all out civil war.

Lines will be drawn. Lives will be lost.
Fight for what you believe in.
Be brave.
Don't hold back.
Take no prisoners.

a defensive based Cup run as good as any devised by Mourinho.

Uhhh again we beat Frankfurt, Bodo Glimt and 16th placed 29% win rate United, mate. Mourinho engineered masterful bus parks against peak Barcelona while down to ten men. They had Messi and Xavi, not Diallo and Fernandes.

Perspective. None of the teams we beat even come close to touching elite.

Anderlecht in the 70's minnows?

Lol what a ignoramus

he didnt bin the league off, if he did he wouldnt of rushed back romero and VDV for a game in april against chelsea....the game where no one expected them to start and VDV limped off as a result of not being ready....set back further! and gambling with his career.

the guys an absolute joke, never seen someone contradict themselves so much, hell say whatever is needed at that time to keep the idiots on board..

No.

Absolute European minnows with 0 European Cups compared to Man Utds 3?

It's a point I'm making regarding downplaying and disregarding the success of 84. Don't like it do you? Sounds like rivals fan talk?
Same applies to those downplaying the 25 win.
So everyone who hasn't won a European Cup is a minnow irrespective of other trophies and form?

So we're an absolute minnow right?

In that 75-83 period, Liverpool are the only British club who won more European trophies than Anderlecht. Different world pre vast amounts of money, in which players like Vercauteren stayed in Belgium

It doesn't make sense replacing him with Thomas Frank after we've just won the Europa. Parker? Silva? none of these managers have won anything. It sends a really bad message if we replace the manager that has won the club major silverware with managers who haven't won anything.

Xavi, Glasner, Emery and yes ok that's fine. We can still send the message that winning silverware is actually important but there's something really odd about replacing him with a manager that hasn't won anything right after we've won something. This is feeling like they're doing it to not follow through with Ange's demands of buying experience and they can stick to punts.

They will start calling you an Ange cultist now mate

Okay.

I could flip that and say the year before Postecoglou grabbed 5th from the jaws of 4th because he lost important games.

Either way, we need to get clarity unless the silence talks of Postecoglou's continued stay.

Why are we talking about 84?
Are we going back in time and sacking Keef?

FFS, either you're Ange out or you're fucking wrong. Just go away if you can't take it that he's halfway out the door.

To accept the narrative that he binned the league off for Europe... You'd have to think he was Nostradamus and started the process of binning the league off in March 2024.. Such has been the length of our poor league trend.
