There’s triggers when to press. No team can do it for 90 mins. If they beat the press then by all means drop back in and get the shape. I think the trigger should always be when the ball is played to the FB or wing back maximum 30 yards from the opposition goal. If you win it there you have them out their shape and they can’t recover. We have done it a couple of times this season when PEH or Bentancur has actually won it and we score. We done city with it and scored through Kane but we never done it anywhere near enough because of the managers tactics or we weren’t brave enough to press high up.

No team can do it for 90..... but the idea is we have possession a lot more than the other team anyways.

So in other words, you don't believe it either, thanks for confirming 👍

We do spend. This is not the 2000s and 2010s. The problem is we have spent very badly.

If we had never spent more than 10 million on a player, but everyone we landed turned out to be a gem, no one would be talking about our spending. But because we have whiffed so badly with our recent signings, people think we are not spending, even though we have spent 40/50/60 million on players.
That's fair- it bothers me though that we won't compete for top targets and always seem to be picking from the bargain bin.

The misspending is definitely worse than the lack of money. When a can't miss target has come along though, we rarely ever assert ourselves in pursuit of it.

Forget before we moved in.

Spurs issued a joint statement with Haringey Council formally committing to building a new stadium in Tottenham, ending the Olympic Stadium sideshow, on January 31, 2012.

We also played at White Hart Lane that day, beating Wigan 3-1 to remain 3rd in the league. Here was the team

Adebayor
Bale Van der Vaart Kranjcar
Parker Modric
Assou-Ekotto Kaboul King Walker
Friedel

Our most recent home match at the gleaming spare-no-expense stadium was a 3-1 defeat to Brentford to slump to 8th. Here was the team

Kane
Son Kulusevski Danjuma
Bissouma Skipp
Davies Lenglet Sanchez Royal
Forster

11 1/2 years on, we've gone unmistakably backwards.
Yeah but Covid / oil money / it’s difficult / notmeguv

Misspending and spending with a plan that never lasts more than a year.

People say Conte was backed but he really wasn’t .

We picked up club signings that he didn’t want and didn’t use, then went too cheap on the big targets he wanted.

We never have the balls to go after really big targets and never pull them off.

Agree. Buying Porro for Conte as things were falling apart is definitely a good example of this. Conte needed Porro at the start of the season.

Porro was a Paratici signing imo. Part of his plan to rebuild the squad to fit a certain style. Like Udogie who was then sent on loan.
I doubt even Paratici thought Conte would be around long enough to see the best of Udogie.

What makes no fucking sense to me and is classic Levy is to knee jerk off into a new manager that won’t use Udogie or Porro or Spence.

Especially when you have options that can play attacking football but still use them.

We have so many players out on loan that are fucking hodge podged into different ideas and different managers. But it still fucking looks like they don’t want to get a DOF sorted before a manager.
