Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Celtic now in talks with Brendan Rodgers about replacing Ange. After walking out on us and costing us 10 in a row, there will be a real frosty reaction from large sawthes of the support.

I willing to forgive if he keeps the trophy's coming in. To be honest he's probably the best coach we could attract to Scotland. Hope we still have a hotline to Ange to get recommendations on robbing the best Japanese talent for pennies 😈

I'm not really laying into him, I'm questioning whether he's a part of the problem at the club (believe me, I am VERY fucking clear when I'm laying into someone). Honestly, I like him, he's a nice guy and he seems level-headed, but he's a constant during our decline and we should look at everything. If we're shouting down the question, maybe it's because it's a emotional reason rather than a footballing one?

To be honest, I'm just a bit disappointed more isn't changing this summer. Fingers crossed he's one of the good ones.

There was a lot of big talk about a clear out, including medical staff and players.

Starting to look like nothing is going to happen when it comes to the underlying structure that hasn’t worked for some time.

Fair enough. Let’s give him more than just a week to start making wholesale changes though

Going all Danny Blanchflower...

ENIC FC

Specialists in failure.
Lol did you leave out all our well established players off the list or those who went on to have world class careers just for the laugh.

Not sticking up for Enic but come on, you didn't even mention Timothee Atouba

Seriously though. We landed on some absolute gems as well though.

I liked Atouba.

Anyone who witnessed Atouba Cruyff turning his way out of trouble, while he was the last man at the back, could only love the guy. That goal away at Toon as well.

My point was that ENIC have had their managers polishing turds since 2001.

The Carrick's, Berbatov's, Modric's and Bale's were often sold to paper over these large cracks.

Ah, that reminds me of Benny. You could always rely on him to sell someone a dummy. Haven't seen that kind of gauche since.... I can't even remember...

I'd be surprised if you couldn't get a better one from Europe who could be sold on the idea of managing in SPL, ergo getting better exposure to EPL owners? Obv that runs the risk of getting a manager who wouldnt be long term.

But that's what happens in 80% of PL clubs. eg as soon as Brighton started threatening the big boys one of them came in with a silly offer to grab Potter

Yep.

We're Donald Ducked.

"The Snake" now major favourite, and apparently, is to be handed every penny of the budget Ange was supposed to get.

Ange Postecoglou signed us complete unknowns , who will literally make us at least 10 times their initial layout. That's at least 8 players who will net is absolute millions in fees. Kyogo is quite simply the finest striker we've had since Henrik Larsson. He's an absolute ghost, just like the great Larsson. His movement is so unreal defenders don't know he's there until the ball zips past their keeper. Add onto that the likes of Hatate, who we certainly won't be able to hold onto past next year, and the rest of the squad he's built, he's phenomenally shrewd at identifying talent to play his system.
Our board our notorious penny pinchers. But Ange was going to be trusted with REAL money, in European terms at least. Not epl terms, y'all are fucking crazy.

Giving that buffoon Rodgers any transfer budget is like watching him walk into a bank with Ange's ATM card, withdrawing everything he could, and going to the bookies with it to bet on flamingo dancing.

I'm fucking gutted. So depressed.

I now hate all of you.

Sure there's still no time to take Rodgers? Maybe as Ange's number 3 ? Apparently Rodgers puts out them cones like a boss. They call him the ice cream man.

Go ahead lads, that boy Levy loves an punt. Take him.

Fuckin take him!

Yeah, none of it had anything to do with them running down contracts, not signing new ones and possibly leaving for free. We should have held their families hostage and have forced them to stay because there is no hierarchy in world football and playing for Spurs is exactly comparable to playing for Real Madrid — said almost no-one ever.

You're thinking of Harry Kane; George.

Saw on a Tottenham FB page.

📰 Alasdair Gold | 🗣️ Ange Postecoglou held a transfer meeting at Hotspur Way on Friday with chairman Daniel Levy among others while Ryan Mason is expected to remain on his staff.
--
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Ryan Mason is understood to have been one of those impressed by the Australian after they spoke on Friday and, despite interest from clubs across Europe and in the Championship, the 31-year-old is expected at this stage to take up an offer from Postecoglou to remain at the club and become part of his coaching staff.
--
👍 There has been a positive reaction so far within the club to the appointment of Postecoglou among staff and players, as many have reached out and spoken to those who have worked under the 57-year-old previously.
--
🪨🪄 Tottenham are expected to sign new centre-backs and attacking midfielders, with James Maddison a long-time target of the north London club, as Spurs adapt the squad to fit Postecoglou's 4-3-3 system from one that was built for the back three formation. That will include analysing which wing-backs can fit into his system as full-backs or wingers.
--
↪️ There will be a string of departures as Spurs' bloated squad is trimmed and transformed without European football to keep large numbers happy with game time.
--
↩️ Postecoglou will also decide on the future of Spurs' returning loan players with 11 coming back including Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso. The Australian will also have the final say on whether the club makes loan moves for Clement Lenglet 🇫🇷 and Arnaut Danjuma 🇳🇱 permanent.
--
🇸🇪 Dejan Kulusevski is expected to remain a Tottenham player. The Swede is one of only five names initially available on the club's website for supporters to get on the back of their new Nike home shirts for next season.
--
💼 Spurs are also still working on bringing in a new director of football this summer to work between Postecoglou and new chief football officer Scott Munn.

I see people are wondering about what type of wingers Postecoglu will be wanting to sign or style the will be expected to play. The style is very much cutting inside central, providing cut backs a specifically ghosting in at the back post for the finish. Here you can see what is expected of wingers in a Postecoglu side by the goals this season of Celtic's wingers Jota and Liel Abada, all very similar. It may help understand the role Maddison would be expected to play. You can see why he would want him. Wingers are absolutely key to the system

He recently came out publicly and criticized the club for its lack of strategy over the past few years, so I can't see how you think he may be part of the problem. And even if that wasn't the case, how much can an assistant coach affect the culture at a club??

Holy fuck the sith has clouded your vision my friend.

I didn't see that. What did he say? I can't find anything obvious via google searches.

All I found was this:

"Ryan Mason claims Daniel Levy has been 'let down' by others as the Tottenham chairman faces fan protests... and insists the club were in a 'false position' under Antonio Conte"

Hardly scathing, and clearly he's on both side of the fence, at least.

But to answer your question, any number of ways.

He's influential with the first team (he's one of the boys, and also a temp manager).
He's friends with many of the players off the pitch.
He's got the ear of Levy and numerous managers since he arrived.
He's going to be bumping into everyone at some point in the kitchen.

Anyway, like I said, I like the guy. I'm not looking for ways to bash him, just leaving my expectations where they are until we figure out what the problem is. I'm an engineer and you find causes of problems by changing one thing at a time. Mason hasn't been changed for a while.
