Imagine conceding goals galore from set pieces, looking horrendous defensively for the most part, looking open and fragile in the centre..

and then getting Robbie fucking Keane as an assistant. It's like we never learn as a fanbase. So you cant see what the 'dynamic' ex player duo of mason and Jedinak have offered? we should add another ex player as the assistant?

I think we should look to bring Adebayor back to the club as a motivation coach

I never understand the obsession with getting ex players back, saw someone saying bring back Dele the other day. We had it for years with Bale, remember it with Berbatov every summer for about 3 years and no doubt it will be Kane in a year or two. Move on. Its just trying to recreate a tribute act to the past. We clearly need a really good coach and i highly doubt thats Robbie Keane.

It's a form of nostalgia mixed with short termism since it would mean bringing back a "known commodity" rather than taking the time to develop a new player.

As for bringing back former players as assistant coaches its just a bit of nice romantisism to see old players grow into coaches at the same club that they played at.

We tried it with Ardiles and Hoddle and it was terrible. Its heart ruling head. We've had Steffan Freund, Gus Poyet, Clive Allen, Ledley King as coaches and they've hardly gone from strength to strength. Chris Hughton the only moderate success i can think of and going back further Venables as manager.

If its someone like Mckenna in the future then no problem as he has no reputation to live upto here and he's clearly a talented coach or at least someone thats really earnt it, not sure Robbie Keane has.

thinking of goal celebrations, dancing around the corner flag appears to have gone out of flavour even with continental imports. Personally, I like seeing someone have a boxing spar with the corner flag. When I see that I think about sitting down for some afternoon tea with that person and really getting to find out about that celebration and whether they would endorse it if I were to use it.. even for a minor personal achievement not necessarily performed in the public domain. That's proper football man stuff right there.

I still haven't forgiven Ange for the utter fucking shambles that was the finish to the season. I still feel angry about it and think that Ange needs to seriously buck his ideas up if he's going to last beyond October. When you add the bargain basement shite that Levy will foist upon us to the equation, I'm feeling pretty negative about our chances of getting top 4 next season.

Ange? Meh...

Keane in his first (main) spell with us was great

A shell of that player when he came back from his stint at Liverpool
Keane had already fallen off a cliff when we sold him. I was genuinely laughing we got so much money from Liverpool for a player that was done.
And rather pissed we spent it all bringing him back.

Edit, IMO, Berbatov brought the best out of Keane and was never the same player without him.

It's entirely possible Postecoglou could be very successful at Spurs. That's the thing with innovators, they can take teams to great places but they also can crash in a big way. I'm bored with the whole "Big Ange" hype and don't think his system will work for long, but a lot of people who know more than I do believe in the guy. I'll be happy to be proven wrong, and I hope he gets every bit of the support he needs so we can find out if he's the right guy or not. My fear is he was brought in on the basis of his system not needing elite players, allowing Mr. Levy to keep player acquisition on short rations.

Yeah I'm desperate to be wrong. But I'm not going to lie I think the vaunted system is flawed AF.

Indeed. That's the problem for me.

The much vaunted system that worked really well against shite like St Mirren and Dundee Utd, doesn't have the same impact against teams that are not coached by utter clowns.

Look at our form at the end of the season. Pure shit, out fought and out played by every decent team we played. I honestly think that Ange is lucky to even have a job.

I'm finding it difficult to get excited about a new season with Ange in charge knowing that Levy is fishing around in the bargain basement bin yet again.

We had a great chance to get top 4 last season but blew it. Couple of wins like v wolves at home or away , Everton etc and we could have got it.

That is the issue with me is that how and why we were out fought and showed no fight in numerous games. It often looked like the players were not fired up and motivated.
