I don't remember, giving away goals as cheaply under Poch or as often.Neither did Arteta the first three seasons, but he kept the structure and kept improving the squad. If you introduce the idea that the players can go on the back foot sometimes then you’ll never be a true front foot team as they’ll use it as a crutch when times get tough.
Poch was the same, even though we didn’t have the players to play through Klopp’s press at Anfield, he kept instructing them to do it, and we gave up cheap goals as a result.
So you'd rather your club spend your clubs money investing in hotels, property, and other non football ventures than on the football team itself?Well boring it is then , I’d rather watch us at least try and win than certain other teams that buy success/trophies because THAT is boring……

The only teams to do the double over us last season were Chelsea and Wolves so clearly we were not some rabble that the top teams feasted on.I don't remember, giving away goals as cheaply under Poch or as often.
I want him and the team to succeed but, it looks disorganised and a mess during games, the best 7 or 8 teams will have a field day against us.
Ange is kidding himself, if he thinks he can win something playing like that, it's ossies spurs all over again, great on paper but doesn't work in reality.
Really? Which players do you rate so highly from that Arse team? Because on paper, they aren’t that much better than us. I think they just play a more balanced system. We don't have the players that city or Woolwich have for retaining possession.
you need aggressive players in the front line for that...we got son, johnson and werner who im also noticing is hesitant to actually get into it. never going to work unless everyone is on the same page and willing to actually be aggressive. The idea is to squeeze the other team deep into their territory so they can’t get out.
Johnson unfortunately would, lose out on a dual with a hamster.you need aggressive players in the front line for that...we got son, johnson and werner who im also noticing is hesitant to actually get into it. never going to work unless everyone is on the same page and willing to actually be aggressive.
look how many times already berg has won the ball by actually being willing to get into a dual.
johnson and werner have come in under his stewardship...surely he hasnt watched them and thought they are aggressive enough to play in this system lol. the only aggression ive ever seen from johnson is when he kicked richarlison!
I don't know that defenders doing their job well is bailing Ange out. It's what they're meant to do. It's why someone like VDV was specifically brought in: because of his fit for what is a high risk system.Ange’s downfall is going to be his arrogance towards defending. I like Ange but he's such a vibes guy. Continues to remain ignorant about how bad our defensive setup is, our set piece defending and our vulnerability to counters. Our first choice defenders are some of the best in their positions and bail out Ange so much.
But we actually did very well on pressures and regains last season. We were one of the top teams in the league. It was only when we ran out of steam that the pressing became lax.you need aggressive players in the front line for that...we got son, johnson and werner who im also noticing is hesitant to actually get into it. never going to work unless everyone is on the same page and willing to actually be aggressive.

Mate we all want this club to be successful, that we are all aligned on.But we actually did very well on pressures and regains last season. We were one of the top teams in the league. It was only when we ran out of steam that the pressing became lax.
I just disagree with what you’re saying. There are different ways to defend. One is by keeping the other team penned in their half most of the game. This is what Ange wants to work towards. It’s not easy to accomplish, but if we give him time and the right players we can become very effective playing that way.Mate we all want this club to be successful, that we are all aligned on.
Thing is, ange is trying/hoping to outscore the opposition every time.
But when it breaks down, or ball is given away, we are then found wanting, we struggle to deal with anything defensively, all this worked in weaker leagues.
A mate of mine is a Celtic fan, he loved ange and still does but, he said while the football at times was amazing, he just didn't do defending and in the EPL, there are too many good teams who find you out.
Well let's hope so mate, although many on here have said during the summer that, second season things come together.I just disagree with what you’re saying. There are different ways to defend. Maybe it will, maybe we won’t quite be there. This league is unforgiving. Solanke will help. Was a pressing monster last season, and hopefully lead the press. Bergvall coming in too, looks like he has a real physicality missing in some of our other mids.Well let's hope so mate, although many on here have said during the summer that, second season things come together.
I hope that is the case, looking at us so far, we are quite a bit off that.
Solanke is a great signing, and yes Bergvall has already given the manager a headache, he looks ready for the first team now.Maybe it will, maybe we won’t quite be there. This league is unforgiving. That's a lot of goalsLeague goals scored against us last season
City 5
Woolwich 5
Liverpool 5
Chelsea 6
Newcastle 5
Not debating that we struggled in some of those matches, although there is always context in some of the reasons why. My point still stands though. Only Chelsea took 6 points from us, in the most self-inflicted wound of all time.League goals scored against us last season:
City 5
Woolwich 5
Liverpool 5
Chelsea 6
Newcastle 5
Villa 2
United 2
It was extremely easy for most of the top teams to score against us last season. That’s 30 goals conceded in 14 matches against them.
They're better coached. It's that simple.Really? Which players do you rate so highly from that Arse team? Because on paper, they aren’t that much better than us. I think they just play a more balanced system.
