I don't understand why though. It didn't stop fans turning on better coaches sooner.

Matt1882 Matt1882 yes you do Mat. Because oddly despite the attempt to gaslight the fanbase that he's being hard done by because he is an Australian. I think it's actually helped him. The novelty cultural affinity with Australia the whole gruff bonhomie shtick, these issues have protected the bloke. It made ME want to protect him. In person he's charming.

The thing his devotees ( not the clueless newbies) actuall football fans can't do is answer the real questions. The game management, lack of periodisation, complete lack of control, the obvious naivety.

They absolutely count... but it would probably be better to look at a rolling 12 months... i.e. Ange's last 38 games (a full season) . If we do that then it's: P 38 W 18 D 6 L 14 Pts 60 - on average that gets you a 7th place position in the PL. Those 10 games, rightly or wrongly, quickly changed our expectations.

But that would be about where people see the squad wouldn't it? I'm assured that Daniel Levy and Enic haven't funded the squad at all appropriately (which I agree with) so when we have injuries we are in deep shit.

So those stats would suggest that when Postecoglou has a full 1st Team he overperforms relative to our wage bill. But when we suffer injuries we fall away dramatically (to where our wage bill would suggest we should be).

Is that not correct? :ange-bored2:

No the squad is good enough under a talented coach to get 4th . I honestly believe that. I think a switch in formation and more importantly in ethos and better use of substitutes would accomplish this. It's part of why I've totally lost faith in your man. Oh and the squad issues are largely about Ange's picks and random approach.

So you agree Daniel Levy has given our Manager everything he needs?

I'll see you posting that in the Enic thread, right?

Yes I 100% feel Daniel Levy has given this coach all he needs to fight for 5th - 4th. Was I supposed to be scared of this answer. I posted in the ENIC thread that the owner of the Cowboys isn't here to buy Spurs. I'm not stuck in your binary, two things can be true. In fact I don't want him to give him a penny

:ange-confused: more.

I don't understand. We finished 5th last year and are currently 3 points off 4th with a far greater GD.

Even with a massive and debilitating injury crisis Postecoglou remains on track to achieve the goals you think Daniel Levy has given him all the support he needs to do?

Something doesn't quite add up here.

???

I hope they go deep, because they are not winning it may take their eye of the league. If City can sort a Rodri work round I fancy them again. I'm not sure what Spurs are at the moment. I still see lots to tweak and our squad depth is horrid...but looking round Europe the standards not very high at all.

I'm chuffed. Worried about the squad. Think Brentford at the Lane please. Then it will be tough whatever. Squad now showing fully the disaster class that Langes transfer window was.

Our squad is thin. You can see this by the constant shuffling of Udogie (back from a really big injury this summer) in and out of the side. Too much hipster football talk has convinced people this stuff is immutable, HIGHLINE HIGHLINE!! Of course Klopp and Pep at better resourced way more serious clubs can be successful with the highline. We on the other hand are flogging young players still learning with no real rotation options.

The predictability of these injuries is utterly disheartening. Our own fans look at a team rolling Archie Gray out at right back and start making comparisons with cities tactical setup I swear we are culpable, Levy can empty his, bladder and we'll swear its rain.

Still not getting it. It's the lack of managing this level of attrional play, the over use of this with inadequate squad depth thats damaging to our players. Saying well other teams do it...no they are not, not succesfully and resourced as we are they aren't. You keep repeating it and it still wrong. Sprinting is a part of the game but the way we play and a lack of in game management exacerbate the 1v1 duals . It happened at Celtic and we should have least been prepared. In stead we've killed Udogie because guess what squad depth. This isn't even complicated unless you're desperate absolve lange and Levy

You absolutely change if your untested at EPL level system has rendered you unable to field a team able to play this way for any extended period because the epic amount of hamstring injuries to your multi million pound assets.

Shocking, the levels of simple unquestioning faith displayed by Anges devotees is absurd. It's deeply cultist. If he had shown a bit more flexibility in how he introduced this with the personell at his disposal I'd have given him credit for a long term strategy. As it is the quotes from the Romania coach indicate a spreading cynicism about his tactical acumen than it merely being a few doubters online.

With Drăguşin, at Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou asks him and his teammates to line up and stand with one foot on the 16-meter line. In these conditions, it is certain that, behind them, a ball is thrown over them and it goes to the goal",

Just on the "squad" and it's relative strength.

On Sunday our bench had TWO players that had started a Premier League before.

Deki.

And....

Reguillon...

The rest of the bench was: Gray (18); Bergvall (18), Spence (24); Lankshear (19); 2 academy kids and Austin.

Is that really a Top 4/5 bench?

We need to talk about the squad more, though I agree with much of what you've said about Ange.

Look at our squad c. 2018 vs. now and the drop off in quality is massive. The ones who stand out as being of amazing quality are an old Sonny, VDV, who I think has a very high ceiling but might be an injury risk, and Kulu, who can be very good on his day. Everyone else is streaky, young, or flawed. Solanke is adding something but he's no Kane obviously.

The decline in quality of the playing squad is the main problem and that's due to leadership and management on the football side of our operation. Ange has his flaws but is a symptom not the cause and is secondary to this.

Can someone do that meme with the bloke sweating over pushing two red buttons:

1) Say it's all Ange's fault

2) Praise Daniel Levy's transfer and wage strategy.

Cheers :D

I didn’t think we’d sack him if we lost the next two but now I’m thinking about the context and shit show that is West Ham. They are terrible yet we are only 5 points ahead of them, although we’ve played one less game.

I mean, that is fucking terrible. Lose the next two tricky fixtures and we will be properly mid table. Even my pre season prediction of eighth might be optimistic.

His only saving grace is us still being in the cups. But that didn’t save Mourinho.

I keep reading we are only this amount of points from being... whatever, where ever in the league, Villa and whoever are doing this well or this badly, previous managers had done this by now etc, etc!
I really don't give a f**k! All I care about is what I'm seeing on the pitch and for me that's basketball style football with no game plan and I'm not a neutral I'm a life long fan of THFC and I'm not the least bit entertained or hopeful that this approach, apart from being amateurish, even lazy managerially, will be successful.

Who green light the purchase of Gray and Bergvall combined fee 60 million? Who claimed they were first team ready your man. Spence, wow the Djed Spence dilemma Ange gave interviews when we INCREASED his contract praising him and then did what. After the player spared his blushes at Coventry

. As for Reguilon I was here when posters were fearful Real Madrid would exercise their buyback option on him. Where were you man?

These mitigations you raise are making the head coach more culpable. His squad management has been woeful, and is part of why I have zero trust left in him. If you are paying a player even if they are not part of your longer term plans USE them. They are club assets, if only to protect Porro Udogie and VDV. Do you understand you are digging him a bigger hole?

And let's be clear, I never said anything about Levy setting anyone targets that's your own fevered imagining. Try to address what has be written. I think THIS squad is under performing, it's mean. This isn't corrected by wins in Manchester.

We're in Groundhog Day buddy. Levy will sack Postecoglou the moment the fans turn on Levy.

Right now the Ange Outers are doing that thing where they pretend like we have an amazing squad with loads of depth so it must be the Manager's fault (the manager they don't like this time around). We've just seen proof that Shotgunofmichalebrow Shotgunofmichalebrow will completely lie about his feelings about the squad if it means sacking a manager HE doesn't like.

Just like the ones that didn't like Conte lied to get him sacked; and Mourinho. Hell - they even went for Poch in 2019.

All the available evidence suggests that when he has a full 1st 11 Ange outperforms relative to our wage bill. Just as most of those other managers did.

Proper Groundhog Day :D

That bench is what most teams would put out with 8 first teamers missing.

You can criticise the squad we’ve built but those teenagers aren’t our first line of reserve players.

Well yes. We do indeed have 8 first teamers missing.

When we don't have 8 first teamers missing we go okay relative to our wage bill.

I don't mind people not rating Ange. Im not 100% on him. But I just like pointing out some of the hypocrisy and bollocks on here.

Well if you weren't so Ignorant, you'd know how to spell Sydney without reverting to spell-checker.
You don't understand how it works do you? lol. If you have a name in you common use it substitutes thinking it's doing you a favour. Now, do you have any actual contribution about your new found passion association football and Spur in particular? No... thought not.

I know your new but Admin Admin don't allow the kind of diversion you are hiding behind dont address me off topic again. It's not what we do. Or you go on ignore.
