Do I think sacking Ange and getting N.E.Body in will make us elite?
No.
We may well improve though and get back to about top 6 where we belong. Could go worse, who knows?

Do I think the risk of it not working is so high that we should keep Ange as a result?

The man is so far out of his depth we're heading towards an actual relegation battle.

'Mate-Ball' :
- only winning games if you score 3 or more goals
- when neutrals enjoy our games more than our fans
- beating City 4-0 (A), losing to Ipswich 2-1 (H)
- playing a superb Liverpool side the same way as relegation bound Southampton, because 'It's who we are, mate'

Getting rid of Ange is the wrong thing to do.

STYLE
Playing defensive, pragmatic football is for teams that just want to 'survive' in the league. If you want to win, you have to be attacking. City and Liverpool have dominated for that reason. However, this system only works with a world class keeper and centre backs. We won't progress with centre backs who are always injuries and a keeper who cannot defend set pieces.

CULTURE
Ange is changing the culture of the club. He's spoken many times that mental weakness and a loser attitude dogs the players. We signed a lot of our players from relegation battlers - they do not know how to be successful, only to survive. There is no confidence, no swagger, no arrogance.

If the club wants to be successful, they can only do that by getting the right players. Another change of coach just starts the merry go round of mediocrity again.

World class keeper
World class centre back
Elite DM
You support the wrong club if you think we will go for even one of those options.

We have NO world class players currently. Any we have had in recent years was through accident, not design.

The thing about inverted FBs is the whole design of being inverted is that they clog the middle of the pitch and act as the start of the rest defense for transitions. It’s a tactic that’s been part of most of the best teams across Europe for the last decade.

But when they get forward, one of the CMs probably need to rotate into the FB positions they vacate. They big spaces open up when nobody rotates or the player rotating gets beaten.

Ange’s system isn’t especially different to what Pep and Klopp have been winning the PL with for the last ten seasons.
Yes, its used widely, but not is such extreme way like Ange uses it.

I dont see both TAA and Robertson running at once as 10. Its usually one of them (typically Trent) sitting deep and making a cross (see Diaz goal), while the other bombing penalty box. Ofc during build-up he acts like 6 and join central midfielders, but he is not doing AM job.

Its not that inverting FB is bad thing and traditional FB is good thing. Its about finding balance. Sometimes invert, sometimes not. Control what other fullback from your team is doing. Sometimes overlap sometimes underlap.

We just do only one way, we expect our fullbacks to do the attacking midfielders job, we don't provide enough cover for our central defenders.

I understand the feeling that Levy might see this as the one that needs to work out.

But don't a lot of them feel like that in the moment?

No manager had the fans on their side like Pochettino. So Levy couldn't be seen to let him down.

There was no way Levy could survive being the only chairman that couldn't win a trophy with Jose.

When Conte was hired, I think it was said by all, that there was no hiding place for Levy if this one didn't work.

But after time passes we realise that he knows that he doesn't really need anything to work out. What are we gonna do? Vote him out in the next election? Any bad press he gets from failure with another manager is something that he knows will be ridden out after a month or so.
That's a great post actually.
Levy seems to be bullet proof. He doesn't just survive every manager he appoints, he survives every scandal he's at the heart of such as trying to move the club to Stratford, the European money league fiasco, the self imposed transfer embargo's that are still hurting us, longest ever trophy drought...the list is endless.
He'll survive the sacking of Ange despite his proclamation of "we have our Tottenham back "
The only question is when he pulls the trigger. And that decision will be made at a time that best suits Levy. Not when it's most beneficial to the football team.

His lack of a backroom staff has never sat well with me. I simply don't understand how you can come to the PL and rely on coaches who have never worked with you before, to drill the players on your philosophy and patterns etc. It might work in third rate leagues but definitely not in the PL. I want to see Spurs employ best in class and that also means I want to see a manager with a dedicated specialist coaching team, I mean I can't even believe we have to talk about it, it's usually a prerequisite.

It just reeks amateur hour. Ange just reeks amateur hour. I've called him a few words but in reality there's no need to get vitriolic about him, I just want to see him gone and I will wish him the best. I am sure he's a nice man underneath the arrogance and stubbornness and gruff with the media. He is just pitifully out of his depth hand has been for a long time.

For me that Chelsea game last season was when I really wobbled and thought we have a chancer here. Alarm bells were well and truly ringing and nothing I saw as last season progressed changed my mind. He should have been sacked in the summer, that was a mistake and I am sure the people who called me negative and a moaner won't come on here and say sorry you were right about Ange. The club no doubt let Ange down in the summer with our woeful window, I was even more sure at that point that our season would be a disaster. But was told three teenagers were all going to be world class and should stop moaning. But some us called this so early, it makes me question again the type of clowns actually getting paid well at the club to run the football side. Despite the club fucking up the summer window, it still doesn't mean you back the wrong man, and Ange definitely isn't the right man. We are as big a mess I can remember seeing, as far back as the 90s.

I think he's dug himself into a hole and can't back down now. He's become a parody of himself, but what annoys me is it feels like the club has become a playground for Ange's ego and an experiment, and sorry that isn't acceptable. He just doubles down despite alarming results.

He got promoted well above his station, should absolutely never have been hired, and what it does show is there is genuinely levels to this management business.

You can see in Europe when he comes up against proper teams, he gets tonked. His system plainly doesn't work at the top level and fuck the club for even thinking it was possible.
A good post and pretty much covered all the points.
There will be a small section of fans who, will cry that, the manager hackers have won etc.
But this has nothing to do with the fans, this is on ange and people at the club.
Despite injuries Ange's tactics have struggled even with a fully fit side, we get the odd excellent performance usually followed by some of the worst ever seen.
He refuses to tweak things even in the midst of an injury crisis which doesn't make sense when the team are struggling like they are.
We all know who and what the real cause of the problems are at the club, but sadly they cannot be disposed of so easily as a manager.
The summer recruitment was, one of the worst I have seen in a long time, who actually thought buying a load of inexperienced youngsters was going to work in the toughest league in the world.
Ange has brought this on himself, hopefully he will get a win today but , that is only delaying the inevitable sacking that will shortly come.

I see we’re back to the point on the cycle where Anges football is described as attacking, and anything that isn’t Anges moron-ball is described as “pragmatic and boring”.

I swear some people must get through a lot of cars, always getting in and stamping on the pedal until they crash into a wall opposite as being in park feels pragmatic.

His tactic (One) is to play the entire 90 minutes like you're chasing a goal in the last 5

its absolute madness which is why no one else does it

You haven’t answered the question though mate
The overlap wasn't really on, nor was the underlap.

Of course I want our fullbacks to get forward.

Forest were sitting there with two banks of 4.....and we started doing all this running around in front of them creating absolute chaos.......for ourselves.

One pass later they scored.

His system is shit as a whole. even our press.. while it's full throttle because we have some excellent athletes, Solanke,Sarr Kulu etc....i don't even know what triggers us to do it.

It's just like "opposition got the ball go and get it, run".
It's all without structure. We leave gaps everywhere.

I was backing Ange last season but now I see it clearly and Galatasaray game done it for me. He set them up to get slaughtered and proved he had no idea what to do at at this level.

You think that but the volume of quotes and interviews he's done and been asked for is way beyond the level of our performance since he's been here.

Either the club have been pushing him hard or the media have been asking for him more than most managers.
Bcos he came in last season like some sort attacking messiah who was going to revolutionise the EPL. Made some good sound bites bcos his Aussie and said mate a lot. The media lapped it up as they always do knowing there will be a downfall at some point and they be ready to pounce.

That’s bit much.

Ange needs to go and is woefully out of his depth. But he reportedly wanted Eze, Gallagher and Neto and got Odobert, Archie Gray and Werner on loan.

Levy has not properly backed the manager, like he hasn’t properly backed any manager ever. When it comes down to it, he penny pinches in the wrong moment.
Come on let’s get this right. Gallagher was not going to come to spurs. We paid £65M for dom so I’m sure we could have done something for either eze or Neto.

I think he thinks he can get the game won by half time.
But as we saw against Brighton and utd in the cup, having a 2 or 3-0 lead means nothing when the team caves in under pressure.
Lucky for us against utd the team finally won it, but the set up.is all style and no substance.

If he doesn't win today that might be that... it really should be the end and if it isn't I'll be completely lost as to what is going on. You can blame injuries all you want but I guarantee our starting XI today would have cost more than Wolves and the weekly wages would probably be double that of Wolves. Ange is a dead man walking but the real culprits are those who hired him, didn't sack him in the summer and didn't sack him after the Ipswich game. They are culpable of negligence but no doubt Levy, Cullen, Munn and Lang will take 25m out if the club in bonuses this year.
