We are sat festering in the bottom 6, having picked up a whopping 1 point in 6 games and not only are we talking about winning one but now two trophies?

Lads, I need to know where you're getting your tea. I could really do with some.

I said it was do or die for Ange because I’d expect him to get sacked if we lost.

I’m still shocked he wasn’t.

But you can check the match thread when I was asked and I said I’m still Ange in until the bitter end. I still am.
And you lot are wondering why people are calling you a cult. If nothing this man does will make you change your mind, it’s nothing less than fanaticism.

It’s the perfect illustration of how Ange has been elevated in people’s minds to the kind of figure spoken above when in fact he’s done nothing to warrant the faith people have in him to deliver a trophy. I know it’s a mix of hope and desperation and that’s fine, but in all likelihood he’s not going to achieve anything apart from picking up his P45 early next week.

oh wow this is quite incredible. My question to you at the time was if you thought he should go if we don't beat Everton and Leicester not "do you expect him to be sacked"?? now you're saying that's what you actually meant??

"Ange in until the bitter end" proves what I've been saying anyway. No fan should ever be "random manager in until the bitter end". It's a results business but you have literally just confirmed he can lose every single game and you would still want him here. Your intentions are not pure.

Football is not a results business. Its a sport. If it is a results business, nobody should be happy with anything less than winning the league. And luckily that is obviously not the case. The results business has been used as an argument against Kane being great. He hasnt won any trophies so he is obviously not great. This is exactly what football has become with the huge amounts of money and absolutely no loyalty or idealism. It should not be hard to understand, or atleast accept the very rational reason behind wanting to believe Ange will turn it around. It has nothing to do with following a cult leader or modern influencer kardashian culture or whatever has been mentioned on her. On the other hand, arguing that football is a results business so we must abandon this project as soon as possible and maybe we can get 4th again next season or hoping that your team loses the next match so the manager gets sacked, is in any sport the deadliest sin.

Of course, it's a cult. Being a football fan is fuck all to do with being rational.

If it was about being rational I'd have given up on this club and English football years ago.

As I said in another thread, I'm Ange In until they sack him and I'm Tottenham until I fucking slide off this mortal coil (FFS why couldn't it have been Real Madrid or at least this club in an era when we were worth it).

The amusing thing is watching all the Ange Out crew deluding themselves into thinking football fandom isn't about being in a cult and really they are just being smart by coming in with their amateur analysis about why the manager is really terrible and they know better so it's all his fault.

I mean, you did just type the word "fanaticism" on a chat forum for..... fans.

A large part of the issue is how the media and, by extension, some of the fanbase have elevated Ange to almost mythical status. He's been pretty much portrayed as this revolutionary figure - a tactical visionary who could transform not only the club but English football as a whole. His success at Celtic, regardless of the differing levels of competition in the Scottish league, was also framed in a way that magnified his accomplishments. The narrative built up around him wasn’t just about winning; it was about how his teams played, his very likeable personality, and his “journey.” Adding onto this, he's got quite the aura about him. The great start we had under him just further enhanced this perception that he was the feggin Neo of super Tottenham, from the lane.

I think this set up a perception that it was almost divine intervention that he’d replicate his previous success with us. So naturally the vast majority of our fanbase largely glossed over some of the nuanced concerns about his past like his points per game records at his previous clubs, or how his defensive style might translate to our league.

I think this glamorisation, despite the obvious all too consistent woeful performance almost every other game, has left some fans stuck in a sort of trance of self imposed denial, that we’re just a few tweaks or players away from seeing everything eventually click....
It's true that it all got a bit ridiculous in October 2023, but you gotta give credit where it's due just to understand it.

We were a totally rudderless operation playing wretched football having failed under two of the most decorated managers in modern history, and then we sold Harry Kane, a player on whom we were utterly, toxically dependent.

And then this Aussie bloke comes in, radically changes the playing philosophy IMMEDIATELY, stops playing a bunch of wastrels who had been hanging around the club for years, and beds in a raft of new young talent, and it all works! Complete with a brash, devil-may-care attitude that pushes the toxic stasis out the door.

To turn the narrative page the club was stuck in after the Conte rant with the Kane contract situation having reached the end of the line was a pretty amazing feat.

The underlying problems that led us into that rut haven't been solved and can never be and will never be under Levy's leadership, but Ange was a breath of fresh air in a room that didn't appear to have any windows to open when he arrived.

Injury stats matter not one fucking iota though because they're all knackered, playing shite and dropping like flies.

It's almost like all those fucking utter dogwank leagues weren't being played at the insanely breakneck pace of the Premier League where you have to chase men galloping like horses instead of some wee anime haired footballsan or a small hairy alcoholic (Aus/Scotland).

If they're not fucking wrecked enough (or injured) chasing other elite level athletes about for 90 minutes, they're probably not sleeping too well / having nightmares about what the latest maniac with the gloves on is going to do with the ball at his feet as they're made to play it out from the back, at 2-0 down, in the last 5 minutes of a game they need to win by 2 clear goals to get a sniff of a win bonus.

I can't wait for him to go tbh...and fuck ENIC.

If we fail to sign any other players this window, and regardless of whether we stay up or not, my view of Levy and ENIC will be irreparably damaged.

I do not and will never want or expect stupid amounts of money to be spent on bloody footballers, but if an emergency situation yields such a response, then it will be met with the only conclusion and reaction that is proportionate.

This is bonkers. Is there any chance that our special construction pitch is harsh on the body. Pulling at straws but what else other than ange over training
I'd like to see a season by season comparison of our injury records before going all in on the pitch being the main culprit. But it could be one factor.

They switch the grass out every so often. So maybe there is something in regards to the current pitch that plays a part...

BTW Look at the team Juande Ramos had retrospectively and compare them to the team today...

GK Paul Robinson
RB Alan Hutton
CB Jonathan Woodgate
CB Ledley King (c)
LB Pascal Chimbonda
RM Aaron Lennon
CM Jermaine Jenas
CM Didier Zokora
LM Steed Malbranque
CF Robbie Keane
CF Dimitar Berbatov

Subs:
GK Radek Černý, DF Kaboul, MF Tainio, MF Tom Huddlestone, FW Darren Bent.

Fuck me, almost every single one of them then would walk into this side and improve it IMO (and I fucking hate JJ). How do we get a mega stadium, increase wealth, yet the quality drops so much? 🤔

calf GIF

Fuck off👍👍
