Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Not if we sack him next week!

He doesn’t seem to trust the youth players to give them a run out either. Must be a great confidence boost for them!

You think a different manager would miraculously clear up the injuries if we stay in 4 competitions?

What a new manager would probably do is sack off the Cups and Europe to focus on the league position. If they did that, maybe injuries start clearing up. But tbh they should start clearing up from next week anyway with Romero and VDV back in training.

Okay

What youth players are you thinking and why would they be able to come in and be able to lift the team? What makes you so sure that these players would come in and turn the clubs fortunes around?
I’m not sure they turn around fortunes but they will likely add some effort and energy, which lifts the crowd. Right back and CM

Can it be worse than our current trajectory? Be brave

From NYT article about our injuries:

- Former Head of Medicine and Sports Science Geoff Scott fell out with Ange after they had an argument about how to manage the squad's workload and the recovery of injured players

- Micky and Romero only completed a couple of training sessions before Chelsea. Medical staff held reservations about Micky starting vs Chelsea, but he started only meant to play 60. He went on to stay on for 79 mins and get a re-occurrence of that same injury.

- Romero only trained the day before the game, and with a significant hamstring injury like he suffered, there were questions whether he should actually start

Interesting -I thought Romero was out with a foot injury??

Cristian Romero has been ruled out of our Premier League trip to Manchester City on Saturday (5.30pm UK), confirmed Ange Postecoglou.

The defender sustained a recurrence to the foot injury that he picked up against Aston Villa earlier this month during Argentina's World Cup qualifier on Thursday last week and was substituted at half-time before returning home for the birth of his second child on Wednesday.

He had both a toe and a hamstring injury and was trying to play through both.

Ange himself:

"One was obviously the knock on his toe which has been a bit troublesome and prior to that he had a bit of a tight hamstring," Postecoglou added.

No surprise he injured his quad if he's having to play through pain and can't move comfortably, easy to pick up other injuries when the body has to compensate by overusing other muscles.

Romero wasn’t out with a hamstring injury before Chelsea, he fucked his foot slide tackling Morgan Rogers.

I do think if Ange could have it back he’d have taken VDV off at 60mins like planned, even if it meant Gray at CB and more goals conceded,

But let’s not pretend this isn’t a failed member of the sports science team, giving a disgruntled interview after getting fired.

If we look at our injury record for years, all the way back to Jose, if he was in place then, he probably deserved to get fired.

He was out for 3 weeks including the international break before he came back?

No chance a “tight hamstring” is still in play by the time he returned.

The reason he was out was the foot injury.

If youre going to quote Ange.....

“No, Romero didn’t injure the same thing,” Postecoglou said. “It’s a totally different injury but also I’m sure people are aware of our situation. It’s not like I’ve got a multitude of options so you’ve got to make these decisions. Both players trained well and wanted to help. So you make these decisions with all the best information.”

'Since the end of last season Tottenham’s medical and sports science departments have undergone significant change. It all started when Geoff Scott left his position as head of medicine and sports science in the summer. It ended a 20-year association with Spurs for Scott who became their head physio in 2004 after leaving Fulham. He worked under 11 different managers including Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Postecoglou.

Scott left Spurs after clashing with Postecoglou. Sources with knowledge of the situation, who asked to remain anonymous to protect relationships, say that the pair fell out over how to manage the first-team squad’s workload and the recovery of injured players. However, the club insists that Scott’s departure did not involve Ange Postecoglou and was instead a result of the review and restructure of the department.'

Deary me. Looks like Trix's info was spot on. Three members of the medical team left Spurs after someone at the club (Ange) didn't like what they were telling him about managing the injuries.

I'm sorry but yet more evidence that we have employed a total fucking fraud bluffer, who has no idea how to manage a elite PL team and we're a fucking mess because of it.

Just sack the cunt.

Also, who in the Spurs medical team at the time cleared Romero to go on international duty if it was later such a risk due to his tight hamstring injury before?

My god you chat some nonsense some times. It's three members of the medical team that left, not one disgruntled one. But no, all three are wrong are they, let's believe the 60 year old Aussie bluffer totally out of his depth.

I mean it's not like he isn't doing a fucking appalling job at getting results and managing the team in other ways, so what makes you think this bloke has a clue how to train and manage injuries for an elite PL side?

I'll trust the blokes with actual medical degrees, not Ange.

That doesn't contradict what I said. Of course it's a different injury, the quad and the hamstring are different muscles.

My point is that by playing a player who is not able to move freely, you risk further injuries as they have to compensate by overloading other muscles. Romero was playing through two injuries already, started a game when not properly recovered and picked up another injury as a result. It wasn't just bad luck. It was reckless and incompetent from Ange and it ruined our season.

I think it's pretty obvious the way that VDV and Romero broke down v Chelsea, that Ange gambled on their fitness.

The most likely scenario is the true one. We have noises that medical team said they shouldn't play, but they did and got injured. Ange was under the cosh, a big game coming up, he needed a result, he threw them in gambled and then subsequently fucked our season up even more.

It's all on Ange. He's a clueless cretin.
