Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think it’s clear as day we are a better club than 18months ago. Sure we are bad in the league.
So we’re not better.
We’ve basically lost 80% of our starting 11 for a significant period of the season.
No we haven’t.
Scrap a draw against Liverpool and then win by a sneaky goal against Newcastle in the final and it’s our best season in 16 years or so
No it’s not.

I think it’s clear as day we are a better club than 18months ago. Sure we are bad in the league. But look at how poor Newcastle were last year, how bad Liverpool were the season they lost just VVD, how poor city have been with a couple of injuries. We’ve basically lost 80% of our starting 11 for a significant period of the season. Couple that with 10 guys leaving in the summer and it’s going to be awful! Football is a game of fine margins. Scrap a draw against Liverpool and then win by a sneaky goal against Newcastle in the final and it’s our best season in 16 years or so

Wrong timing to make the claim but I hear what you are saying.

The medical and Sports Science dept is finally being modernized (that Scott prick was there for 20 years FFS)

The academy kids are finally coming through at a higher level (Moore, Olusesi, Williams-Barnett, Hall etc)

We didn’t have Solanke before, we do now.

Our recruitment in general is hitting more than it misses (Kinsky the latest).

Ange probably went a bit too bullish saying that right now but it might sound less mental by the end of February

Was pretty much how I remembered it. My take on it was his emphasis being that his focus is only on the players and the staff at the club and to convince them his approach was the right one. If they have his belief, then we can be a success. Anything or anyone outside of that is irrelevant and it’s just noise. Not pleasant to him necessarily, but just noise.

That could be taken to mean he includes fans as being irrelevant I guess, which is not a good look, even if he is just referring to the noisy or disgruntled fans. Others might read it differently, but that was the impression I got and that he is aware of the ever increasing noise. I wasn’t impressed.
Bit arrogant to think his belief will lead to success in England?

I just watched the embargoed bit of the press conference and he seems very calm, he’s not coming across as a manager under any pressure whatsoever. Surely if we lose Sunday he won’t have a leg to stand on but I couldn’t say with any certainty he’ll be sacked if we do. I just think the team lacks so much whoever is playing and that won’t differ.

But this is where giving the squad zero help makes no sense as well.

They all just seem content to bumble along.

Then we need to write off judging him for the rest of the season because we will have injuries the rest of the season.

Lets cherry pick which games we judge him on to only the ones he has won.

Lets just wait and judge him when he gets a perfect storm and the team is allowed to press like mad men again and get a big win.

Lets put our fingers in our ears and pretend we are not just 8 points above the relegation zone because Ange Postecoglou has had too many injuries. That does not buy in that to the narrative that we have a coach that has rewrote the way football is played. That this genius has 1 more point than AVB did when he got sacked. The genius that has managed 3 more losses than either Mourinho or Conte.
I like how the then number of injuries is now concentrated on the goalie and 2CBs. We were shite with them as a whole. Our starting forwards and midfielders have all been available bar the odd game or two missed. And we have only lost Solanke and Johnson in the last week or so. I think this injury narrative some our using is going to sleepwalk the club into a relegation battle. Yes players are over played but that is on Ange to rotate where he can and he hasn’t. I see salah play play virtually every game. If love to see the minutes played and running stats of our players compared to other teams. Also the reason we haven’t been able to get top 8 in the Europa is we didn’t get the results earlier.

It's built on sand isn't it?

I've started to realise that all the while our defenders have stopped focussing on defending first and foremost the more goals Spurs seem to concede.

Without Solanke I doubt this team can outscore many of the teams Spurs have left to play.

Levy needs to do something in my opinion.

Sentiment for Ange could get Spurs into big trouble unless there is a rapid change in fortunes.
Common Solanke hasn’t been banging in the goals for fun. Has he scored a hatrick or anything like that?

They got back at 2am this morning apparently. Ideal preparation!
Ffs that is the sane for every team in Europe. You that is going to happen if you are in Europe. Thing is you need to plan for that at the start of the season. Our club including board, Munn, Lange and Ange did not. It is on them
100%. Otherwise why bother aiming for Europe. And we are supposed to be faves for Europa. My arse!

Should they have been out of sight in the second?

Nope.

Makes no sense either because if we were ‘out of sight’ after the first half, if they’d done similar in the second, we’d have been roughly even.

Next time learn what ‘out of sight’ means before popping in with your usual negative bullshit. It might be the last win we get this season so stop shitting on it.

Told you before, don’t quote my posts again. I don’t like or respect you.

You’re a boring troll who doesn’t support spurs. Back to your own teams forum please.

Yours,
Real Spurs Fans

Smoke and mirrors re injuries

Ange's comments on Maddison in that embargo section completely kill off any idea that they have fallen out. Seems pretty obvious Ange has just been trying to keep him fresh because the way he spoke about his leadership and mentality, they are clearly seeing eye to eye
