So are we actually locked in the EL knockouts at this point or do we have to win some more games?

Is this true?? Didn't see anything after the game.
Through to the last 16 already. Our next game is on the 6th March. So are we actually locked in the EL knockouts at this point or do we have to win some more games?
Someone (who was also there) mentioned it on the pod as well this lunchtime....Is this true?? Didn't see anything after the game.
If it is thats pretty admirable from Lucas and awful from Bentancur.

By and large (probably 99 out of 100), if a manager hasnt shown a big improvement in the first 18 months then they likely wont.
More likely to be something contractual. Failure to qualify for Europe reduces the compensation or something. Levy knows nothing about football but even with his limited knowledge he must know we're not winning anything. Can only think Ange told levy pre-season I always win a trophy 2nd season. Hes told media as well. That's the benchmark. Failure then P45.
I agree. Quite often you can tell pretty early. Santini for example or De Boer at Palace. But i always think you get a very good idea after 16/18 months. Are individual players improving, do the team look organised, have they become difficult to beat. Its always pretty clear at that stage. When there's been nothing but a clear downward trajectory, they shouldn't even get 18 months.
Football is big business, any other manager leading a business to failure would be long gone.
Aaaah - the ‘80s…that’s more like it! Here we go…The only good thing that came out of last night was talking to a fellow sufferer who feels exactly the same as me about this Club, but wish we didn't. The reminiscing of watching us in the 80s was off the scale.
The ones I feel for are the supporters who do the away league games as well. As disappointing as yesterday was (and Sunday will likely be), I'm not putting myself through it every week.

He needs to go during the summer appalling appointment. When there's been nothing but a clear downward trajectory, they shouldn't even get 18 months.

With the benefit of hindsight it was a pretty naive appointment.
For me the fact he didn’t bring any coaches with him should have rang very loud alarm bells.
All the best coaches have usually assembled a very close knit team that coach various different aspects of the playing setup and have come together over a long period.
It now seems extremely bizarre that Ange doesn’t have such a team of assistant coaches, especially when it seems he relies on his team extensively to manage the day to day coaching.
I wonder if Filippo Inzaghi's arm can be twisted. He's about one of the only managers I believe can make something of the team of Youngsters we have.
Here's why:

The existing incumbents didn’t come for free!Yeah but;
If Ange had bought more assistants, like Conte did, the chairman would have had to pay all of them off too when the time came.
Where would the money for the chairman's salary and bonus come from then?
It was the right thing to do I reckon.
At least Spurs wont be doing a Leeds.
Wait.....
I think Levy's biggest issue is trying to convince anyone decent to take over this shit show mid season. It’s hard to say, Levy seems to have gone soft in the head. He has never been this accepting of shit results before.
Did Levy get them off Indeed too?The existing incumbents didn’t come for free!
They’re not FOC interns (even though their performance may reflect that)!
He was on the verge of being sacked yet took over a team 11th and finished 8th.Yeah, and you can't really compare it to Arteta who was on the verge of being sacked at one point but most people could see that there was progress being made. Or Howe, who was under pressure but really only for 2-3 months of average to poor performances.
We've been bad for a year - probably slightly more than a year now. Yes, there's been some lovely goals and moments where you think maybe a corner has been turned, but they don't last. The form guide says 'relegation' even if the goal difference says 'top 6-8'.
