It will be great to win a pot and CL money gives Levy less of an excuse for a dry summer. Will be a nice day as long as it is viewed in isolation.
But step back and it really is the most extreme example of "papering over the cracks" I can think of.
The club is in disarray and there is no goodwill/attachment between fans and the players/staff/owners. If you don't think the wider context has an impact on the enjoyment of the win then you are simply lying.

The reaction from Ange and the players has spooked me somewhat. They are just buzzing to be there. Very little faith they show up and deliver.

This will definitely happen, you can already see it forming, football is a game of emotion and it has a way of shutting off logic.
That being said, even if it DOES happen, I think he will only last a month because the poor results in the league will continue imo.
Truthfully, I don’t even think Ange will want to stick around. He knows the smart play is to bow out with a trophy in hand while his stock’s artificially inflated “I won silverware at Spurs” is the kind of line that opens doors elsewhere.
It’s a great headline for his CV, even if it flatters to deceive when it comes to his actual ability as a manager at this level.

I've noticed that he's gone from blaming the poor league form on injuries to blaming it on reaching a semi final and a final in two cup competitions.
There is 0 reason to keep him on next season even with an EL win.
1. A system which falls apart unless proven injury-prone players (Romero, VDV, Udogie) start is untenable (ignoring the fact that we have been awful at times this season with those guys playing)
2. If our league form of 17th is down to reaching EL final then what will happen when we have to play 8 tough CL group stage games and rotate EVEN less? The next move down is relegation

when he first came he was such a winner that even pre season games were important to win...now its ok to lose 20 games as we are in a europa league final...a europa league that has been turned into its softest version yet.

Danny Dyer won a tv BAFTA last night, akin to Celtic winning the Scottish PremierLeague . I wonder if Danny will now think he is better than Pacino , De Niro , Nicholson and try and win an Oscar . Actually Danny is a lot more self aware and knows his limitations compared to Ange imho
My real concern is that by not getting rid in the summer, all of our current targets become unobtainable by October.
We will also have to either buy players for a coach who is going to leave, or not buy any at all, leaving the next guy in a tricky situation. So that'll be next season written off as well.

So beating smaller teams has not been a foregone conclusion for us when we’ve had managers with a winning mentality and all the know how. Now we’re in a major final you’re going to say it is expected and no big deal?
I actually agree that league form and general performances are a MUCH better indicator of quality than a random cup run which is far more prone to luck. Our league form is a better indicator of our performance. But when I’ve pointed it out in other contexts, you and others have been very quick to say - who cares? It’s all about trophies! And now we’re on the edge of winning a trophy - who cares? It’s all about league form!
You can’t have it both ways.
To be clear, i would like to see him replaced, but that’s purely on the standard of play and results.
I do wonder what I’ve missed though. Lots on here calling him a cunt, vile, horrible, etc. What specifically has he done to be called those things? Can’t just be he’s a manager who’s failed. Must be something else to use such language to describe the man. What, specifically, has he done to deserve being described like this?

Lost a lot of games. That’s really it. People will act like it’s something else. His comments, stubborness, etc but none of that would matter if he wasn’t losing so much. Not sure how you can have a good press conference or relationship with the fans while losing so much. The problem is most managers have been fired 3 months ago so we’ve just had to hear it all over and over again.
That said, it’s silly and shows what kind of “fans” are on the internet.
