If we win, despite how you feel about him now, I think Ange will become a club hero. His sentiment amongst fans is at an all time low. But in hindsight I think some will look back at his naivety and call it sheer determination. The guy is a professional bullshitter, maybe one of the best of all time, but I think the history books will call him a hard working dreamer, who through grit and guts got a PL job and took Spurs to a European final. Yes, he is an over-achiever way out of his depth and I want him gone next season, but you have to admire the journey. Just look at the timeline.... Mourinho, Conte, Postecoglou...... he's such an unlikely candidate to give us the trophy we so crave. This situation is absolutely bonkers, he couldn't be more up against the wall. And I wouldn't put it past him to pull it off, I think he's that sort of person. I think he thrives on proving people wrong
 
Will be avoiding this thread tonight, regardless of the outcome.

I don’t care if we win or lose, he needs to go and no amount of revisionist history is going to change the facts about his tenure.

That being said, I hope he wins because I love this football club and we are long overdue the feeling that winning a trophy brings.

Although I guess the Europa is bigger than the Milk Cup.

Basically, once cl qualification was not probable or possible via the league the focus was the EL. This is why I think Ange hasn't been fired and why he wont if we win today. He will have achieved what the club want, a trophy and CL qualification.

I get what you're saying. To elaborate, i think Ange will become like a joke, the basis of it being, isn't it funny that he was so shit yet he got us over the line, and people will chant his name ironically. Then over time that will turn to a sort of cult hero status.
Ramos isn't very memeable and is largely forgettable. It's not just the achievement, it's the story around person, and he's generated such strong feelings.

How is Ange a professional bullshitter?

The situation is bonkers, so many 'fans online' are stuck to this idea that we are in a Europa league final in no thanks to the manager. Yet the premier league form is all his fault.

You do not win the amount of games he has for Spurs, score the amount of goals, or reach cup finals, if you have no idea what you are doing or you're a 'bullshitter'.

Fittingly, you only have to look at Gary Neville or Wayne Rooney's managerial record to know what out of your depth looks like.

Fuck off... I mean seriously... we use to go through seasons losing 4 or 5 games not so long ago. How anyone can come on here and defend this league season is beyond me. AND FOR THE FINAL TIME!!! Nobody who want's Ange out, want's Spurs to lose tonight. You fuckers keep peddling this bollocks. The two are not mutually exclusive.
 
You know, I actually think Ange will keep his job if Spurs win tonight. Here's my thinking.

We're a fickle lot and even when we lose to a bottom club, the next win and we're all happy again. The mood after a win tonight will make us forget the league - it's done now, anyway.

We'll be in the CL and it's a fresh start next season. Sacking Ange will be yet another confirmed Levy managerial failure. And if he wins this trophy, he'll technically be the most successful Spurs manager in years - just can't see Levy sacking him if we win. Imagine congratulating Ange in landing a European trophy, with his P45. I think he'd get a decent transfer window and all finger crossed for a good start in the league. If we win.

If we lose tonight, Ange is gone, either tomorrow or after the Brighton game (most likely).

Agree with most of this but there is no universe where Ange will have club hero status, even if we win tonight. He will be the answer to a pub quiz question, much like the manager who was in charge when we last won a trophy.

I agree with you. Not sure I'd say "technically most successful..." but in an important sense it's true.

He will keep his job but be gone in November. I've seen enough to be very confident that Ange will not succeed in the league or CL for that matter. He doesn't have it him.

Anyway, COYS!!! Go big ANGE!!

Levy seems to focus on turning cheap into sellable, rather than really investing in tried-and-tested quality players that are fit for top-4. Ok, so that's harder when you aren't actually in the top 4 (to attract them, pay the prices and wages), but we were there for long enough and didn't exactly buy many quality top-4 proven players. We got lucky with some, but many were dogs, or injury prone.

True, but you can't excuse BIG ANGE entirely for so-so recruitment. He is part of it. Levy obviously has the final say yes. It's his cash. None of us really know how much influence Ange has, though I'd have thought at least last summer with his standing higher, he would have had quite a bit.

The players we've signed under Ange have IMO been good acquisitions (though I think we overpaid for Gray) Dragusin aside as it stands. The problem is we also need 2-3 elite players on top, and we've never had the backing to get those.

disagree really.
If we win it I bet he will, not next season, or 4 or 5 years maybe. but another decade plus of ENIC failure will see him as cult hero who won a major European trophy despite ENIC in my opinion
