Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I had accepted that we should let Ange go at the end of the season, regardless of last night's result. I had admired his intent when he came here, but had concluded he was not going to deliver for us.

Today, I'm not convinced we should have a parting of the ways. We've had hugely successful managers in the last 17 years who have failed to deliver a trophy for our club. We have enjoyed some great days with some of them, and endured some horrible days with others. The fact is, none of them gave us a what we all got, and felt, last night.

We hadn't won a European trophy for 41 years. We have one now. Our trophy cabinet was empty for 17 years. It's not now. We weren't a winning club. We are now.

We have been Spursy for 17 years. We're not now.

I for one, am walking taller today than I have for a long time.

I think I've convinced myself we should give Ange more time if he wants it.

The guy said it since day 1. He wants to change the mentality of the club and turn us into winners.

Not just the club but the fans too.

No idea which of us would have taken 17th and the Europa at the start of the season, im guessing, very few of us.

But we are winners now. And what we do with that is up to us.

actually makes me laugh regarding the supporters who want him gone, spurs have been losers for 40 years, finally have someone that wins them a trophy and they want him gone...LMFAO... the problem it seems isnt the manger its the supporters.. sack him and keep losing losers

Yes, unless we get a really smart upgrade, which there are no guarantees, remember we finished 5th in his first season. We've all been desperate to get a trophy and we will be grateful for that.

The key thing is the transfer window. All Ange got from Levy in the last year was Solanke (not a prolific scorer), a bunch of kids for the future, and then Danso in January. It wasn't exactly ambitious signings. Now, with CL football, I expect better, so maybe Ange would do better with a better squad, and less injuries.
Equally important to a few new players, is that we keep our talent, and bulid on further, to get some consistency.

The "kids" are gonna grow tougher and smarter, and we are not that far away to have a great team. VdV, Bergvall, Gray, Udogie and Spence are not only players for the future, but for here and now.

A couple of real upgrades in MF and attack, will probably see us back in the top of PL.

There are still more reasons to sack him than keep him. Roberto Di Matteo won the CL with Chelski with all the luck going Chelski's way but his lack of head-coaching abilities soon got exposed.
Yes, I am happy Spurs won this trophy but, let's be honest: it was a shit show of a game and Spurs won because they played a equally shitty team. Yes, teams like Inter have won important games, too, by playing shitty football but at least they know how to counter attack. Spurs had basically 0goal threat last night - and scored due to a lucky bounce off Shaw's arm.
In the CL next season for sure Spurs' flaws will be exposed.
In the EPL Spurs have lost a record 21 games (1 game still remaining) and played really poor even when having the players back.
And after sticking to his possession bases systems for 2 seasons. Angelos first now realized that Spurs needs to play defense as well to win games.
All credit to Angelos for being part of Spurs' winning this trophy but I doubt he's the man to bring Spurs forward.
But, then again, Spurs ain't an easy team to manage.

We were missing all of our creatively minded midfielders.

I think we're legit gonna lose the rest of our matches, shocking state of affairs.

The human centipede predicted this just last month.

Edit ...Fair play he included himself In that list.

The league form is a huge concern but there is something special and unique about Ange.

How he was able to motivate that group of players to win in Frankfurt and win lastnight is some achievement. Given everything that has gone wrong this season, he was still able to get them to all fight like dogs when it mattered.

He has broken all barriers. He has got a massive monkey off our back. Whatever happens now, I'll always be thankful we hired Ange Postecoglou and will forever be grateful to him!

"I think when we got to the end of January - the end of the transfer window and assessed our situation - I made a decision there and then that this was the trophy we were going to go for.
It was at odds with what other people believed at the time we should do and that's understandable but I really believed we could win this.
Everything we've done since then, everything we've done in training and the teams I've selected were making sure that when these games came around that we were in the best possible position to tackle them.
That has come at a cost for sure in the league and I have to take responsibility for that, but I just felt the end game of winning something was more important to me and it's the only way that I was going to do it."

Be interesing to see how many of these accounts were on here celebrating our biggest win in over 40 years last night?

Might click though all the accounts to see their recent posting history. TBF I think Doom Funk Doom Funk and TonySoprano TonySoprano are good guys who mean well and just think Spurs will be better off once Ange leaves.

But some of the others are just so miserable that they probably didn't even enjoy the win lastnight because fans like me would be happy!

I'll be forever thankful to Ange for this trophy - but we are a poor team and he is the major reason why. Just as we need to upgrade certain players, the biggest upgrade we can make is to the coach.

On a personal level, I hope Ange goes on a high too. When it's all said and done, he'll be remembered fondly by the majority of Spurs fans.

Can I have a hug once I've completed it ?

He achieved something beyond his capabilities and capacities. He should leave now as a hero, so we can push on to the next level. He’ll be remembered fondly, because he won a European trophy, because he took over a job nobody wanted after Kane left, because he took the scared approach out of the deep roots of this team, instilled by Conte, and because he brought some insanely good talent for us to have for years to come in Bergvall, Van De Ven, Gray, Sarr etc.

But?

As someone who has followed Ange’s career, he has a tendency to walk when he wins and in conjunction with some reservations regarding resources given and/or the board/ management style. He did it at STH Melbourne, he did it at Brisbane, the Socceroos, Yokohama, Celtic and will probably walk from Spurs. I hope he doesn’t, I’d like to see him given the opportunity to learn from this season in conjunction to getting a few quality seasoned players in, and see what he can do.
He’s achieved his major objective, winning a trophy.
I think he’s going to walk. He’s copped a tonne of shit from supporters and media pundits. He doesn’t forget. Ask Craig Foster!
Leave on a high Ange.
