CL is a real competition compared to EL. I agree with you. EL is lower grade comp than even english league cup (because you eventually play real prem heavyweights). 2019 was a much bigger footballing achievement than the EL cup we won yesterday, no question about it.

Glad everyone is having good time, but they shouldn’t get carried away, and should try to maintain some perspective.

Champions of Europe? Champions of Europe Junior League is what it really is. I don’t think we beat a single CL team all season.

I think a part of why I want Postecoglou out is I don't like his personality. He came in and told fans and the media what they wanted to hear and then became angry and negative when the losses piled up and anyone questioned him.

But pretending the 17th place finish didn't happen is exactly what people will do in the glow of a trophy. Look at this board, it's already happening. Organizations hate tough choices. Spurs will keep Postecoglou because it is the easy thing to do, not the right thing.
 
I hated him when we lose and wanted him out badly. But who wouldn't reacted badly? Poch, Mourinho, Conte - they all had their share of bad outbursts.

I find him arrogant with his bullish snaps. But then you see all the social media reactions from our players now - Madders gave back a lot to those doubters, Porro laughed it off the criticism that he couldn't defend, and even Johnson posted an IG story with Son captioned "fucking spursy". So perhaps it turns out everyone in the club was bullish but only Ange could front that all, until we won.

I thought he had no plan B. But last night was the masterclass of parking the bus that worked.

He wanted to change our culture and mentality, and was making the fans very divisive. Yet we all, mostly I guess, celebrated the win so wildly yesterday and leave many of us crying. The rebuild was painful - it could well be more painful in the coming days, but we could well be winning more too.

He fucking won us the European title. He won me back. I'm back to Ange in. Give him the new season.

When has Postecoglou ever accepted responsibility for results? Oh, he might say "this is unacceptable" but that's followed by a line of excuses that never address the problems on the pitch. As for players adoring him, some probably do. But it is rare that a player will publicly say anything negative about a manager until after they leave. Yes, there has been attacking football, but in a system that leaves Spurs exposed defensively. That is not the Spurs way. The last part is true to the extent that any trophy is a major trophy.

What utter nonsense. Truth be told, I couldn’t care less about Champions League football. You think playing in the Group Stage would give any of us more joy than what we experienced last night? It’s a bonus that is only good financially, but that’s about it.

To be fair, he's done something at Spurs that 30 other managers didn't do going back to 1984. And only 1 other manager under Levy has won a trophy, so it also shuts up all the jokers about trophies and trophy cabinets. That's lots of jokes and crap we don't have to take now. If winning trophies was easy at Spurs, we wouldn't have been where we are.

Yes, 17th is terrible, but the context was injuries and then protecting everyone from getting injured (and even that didn't work as our injury record is terrible) for the cup final. We have a goal difference that is aligned to 10th not 17th, and a goals scored that is up there with the best. Losing our whole defence for weeks was part of the problem, and having to play all those youngsters, that were meant for the future. It's not all Ange's fault.

Let's remember that under Wenger, the scum didn't win ANY European trophies. It's not a given.

If Postecoglou is retained at least the questions about him and his system get answered and the fan base won't be so divided. I think the trophy will buy him that opportunity. I don't like it, but that's the reality.

And after last nights win i never even contemplated it until Gareth Bale said that we dont have to wait that long until the super cup spurs vs Inter/PSG
Its another crack at silverware and Ange has earned the right to take us there

If playing in the CL is utter nonsense why is CL footy one of the demands of quality targets then?
CL is the biggest stage in football outside of the WC play-offs. Just ask any (top) player. It's not just a financial bonus for players but a stage where they can highlight and spotlight their talent.
