Sorry but plenty of fans were jealous of the miracle of Amsterdam and us getting to the CL final

How could they not be?

I remember Rio jumping up and down with Glenn in the commentary box at the final whistle

I am friendly with a mixture of Spammers, Goons and Chavs and all of them were in awe of us getting so far and, to their credit, all supported us against the Dippers
Those same fans bantered the fuck out of us when we lost the final.

They can’t do that today, apparently it’s just our own fans downplaying it.

Ask any top player if they rather would like to win the League cup or be a loser in the CL final.... Or ask any club with ambition what they prefer.
It's not a loser mentality to prefer to lose a CL over winning a 2nd or 3rd class competition.
Would you rather see your national team win a WC qualifying group over being a lose in a WC final?
Yeah I'm sure Son much preferred the feeling at the end of the CL watching the scousers raise the trophy and inspecting his second place medal than last night...

Mate.....come on

Yes but when do we break ground on his statue? :D

He can have a statue (a small one) if it means he walks away after this.

My biggest fear was he stays due to the emotion overriding the facts of what happened last night. Which is what has happened. I understand and know why (this is a club that hasn't won anything in yonks) but also know that keeping him on is going to lead to more of the same last season, and we'll be in the CL so there will be no weaker competition to fall back on.

Ah well. Ultimately you'd take that for a trophy.

That night will go down in spurs history - but if you ask them today, which one is the greater achievement, getting to and losing the CL final or winning the europa league last night - id be very interested to hear their point of view.

my point isn't that the former is not some kind of achievement, it's that it is not a greater one than winning something.

Let me ask you this.

If arnsel had beaten PSG and gotten to, and lost the CL final, would you see that as a greater achievement than us winning the europa?

CL is a real competition compared to EL. I agree with you. EL is lower grade comp than even english league cup (because you eventually play real prem heavyweights). 2019 was a much bigger footballing achievement than the EL cup we won yesterday, no question about it.

Glad everyone is having good time, but they shouldn’t get carried away, and should try to maintain some perspective.

Champions of Europe? Champions of Europe Junior League is what it really is. I don’t think we beat a single CL team all season.
What about Pool and City?

If you'd of said to me lose europa and sack ange or win Europa and keep him I'd of said win and keep him. I've not been on board with this appointment pretty much since his name was mentioned but I have to thank him because last night being at White Hart Lane I experienced something I'd convinced myself was never going to happen and it's the most incredible thing I've witnessed as a spurs fan. For that he has my eternal gratitude and I think he should get the start of next season to put the league form right now.

I’ve been very open and up front about my dislike for Ange and his approach to football. But to sack him now would be to lose the dressing room. The players would be confused and hurt and imo we’d see a lot of players requesting transfers away. So unfortunately, he will stay.

Read my post before having a go as I was referring to the fans that I’m acquainted with so it wasn’t those same fans who bantered us

Maybe the sort of company you keep?

Just to be clear in no way am I downplaying last night’s result
It was brilliant

Scrappy game with two poor sides but the result was all that mattered and we got over the line!

I openly said I’m biased, but I’m a Spurs fan first (and have met many of the members of this forum in person years before he was our manager), and an Ange fan second.

if you can genuinely say to yourself that you felt the team accomplished more after 2019 than last night, then fair fucks. I would personally say that’s a loser mentality, but I guess that’s just my wrong opinion.

Except that everything the one player who played in both finals for us has said disagrees with your opinion.
Winning last night is a million times better than losing any final. No-one wants to lose any final. Winning is all that winners care about.

We're really talking about 2nd place is better than winning a trophy on a Spurs board

🤣🤣🤣🤣
Boggles the mind, we win a trophy and some of our fanbase still seems determined to sit in Woolwich's shadow

Woolwich a team of serial bottlers who literally coined the phrase top four trophy

People in here trying to tell me these losers had a better season than us when they won fuck all

No no no and no, we need a proper manager. This trophy was tottaly out of the blue, we got tô the final playing horrible football in some matches, with a bit of luck and thanks to a very good squad that Ange managed to finish 17th in the Premier. Nothing suggests he deserves another chance, football didn't improve under him since he arrived and we are unwatchable most of the time. Also UCL is a Very different challenge.

So you &others can continue to undermine him!
Some fan you are!

Yeah I think this is a fair opinion.

Listening to all the players tonight really felt like a mentality turning point - they now know they can win, and want to win more.

Pick talked about the “painful rebuild”, this year is what that has looked like. Ange, in that, has delivered a European Trophy.

It is a pivotal moment in the club, and I think purely from a mentality perspective it would be a massive mistake to remove the man who instilled that.

Thanks Ange: To beat Man U and win the UEFA after such a long time between drinks is the best pick me up I have had in years! And you kept your word!
