I mean Redknapp was 65 years old when he left Spurs. And Poch showed his quality while he was here.

One stick you cannot beat Levy with is a failure to attract top managers to the club, he's hired several terrific ones.

But he's never pursued a manager as passionately as he did Ramos, and with the full benefit of hindsight, there just really wasn't anything there.
We criticize managers and coaches for being too rigid in their thinking but what I remember of Ramos was the way he used to make multiple changes in formation during games. It didn't work but I wonder if the reason was that he was a bit too smart for the players ...

It’s the signing of players I worry about with Ange. I’m sure he wants Tel to stay and I reckon we will do like we did with turbo. Next week or so it will be announced. Instead of spending the money on the Brentford lads like wide or mbuoe or even eze who Ange didn’t wa t last summer.
Yeah he seems to like players with low technical ability but fast. 7 out of 10 players. The 3 players you mention are a step up from who we have signed under ange. Him wanting Werner again was odd. Tel is uninspiring.
But to be fair, levy doesn’t offer really good top level players so for a lot of managers is best of a bad bunch or nothing.

Neither had Europe.

Neither had an injury crisis.

Both knocked out early in the other domestic cup.

Newcastle finished 5th. Palace 12th. Hardly aspirational!
Injury Crisis - caused by Ange 'its who we are mate!'
Both also beat better teams in their respective finals than we did. You have to ask yourself how hard was it to beat 15th place Man utd as opposed to champions Liverpool and top 5 Man City

Trix on SC said this morning that

Fwiu and posted back of house on Sunday, my man still thinks he will go.

From the conversations I have had it looks to me like some don't think he should stay at all, others aren't sure, but no one of significance is out and out fighting his corner.

It's all appears to be very complicated, and I don' think it's looking good for him personally. The club also has to look at far more than just the trophy. He has the squad on his side, and also a vocal section of the fan base, but fwiu Paratici wants someone in line with his way of thinking and working, and wants to literally upgrade everything back of house, just as he did with academy. Add to this Sponsors have been pissed off for months(although they can't have been unhappy with the cup and subsequent CL qualification), season ticket sales are down, and the squad shape is a real mess. He's now saying he wants to recruit a bunch of experienced players for next season but had agreed last season to use a conveyor belt approach and the two ideologies won't meet in the middle unfortunately.

I don't know where we go from here because good will is in short supply from the fans to Levy so how much he will want to upset the apple cart is anyone's guess, but if Paratici does get the autonomy he has been negotiating for months to get, Ange will go imo.

I must add all this was heard prior to any meeting that supposedly took place with Ange and Daniel on Sunday evening. So if that happened, and things changed at that point I don't know.

Also worth adding that Ally Gold said there was no meeting on Sunday between Levy and Ange. So if the above is accurate. And to me it does make logical sense. I think Ange is gone.

I reckon Levy is waiting for the Cup win glow to dimmer a bit before we say goodbye to Ange. He was never sacking him immediately after the season ended. Not when we won a trophy last week.

Plus he isn’t going to sack Ange when he’s in holiday. I think Ange will go once Vinai and Paratici are on board. They start 1st July apparently. Then Levy can avoid the fans blowback by making out the decision to get rid of Ange is Vinai’s and Fabs.

The more I think about it the more I’ll be amazed if Ange is kept on. The league form has been horrendous. He should have been sacked several times over.

As football supporters we always go into the new season with hope.

If we break this decision down into basics and we are honest with ourselves, do we really think we can win the Prem or the Champions League with Ange next season? I’d suggest that’s very unlikely.

That leaves the domestic cups and we are up against premier league opposition for those prizes.

So if you use the league form as a metric of our success against this calibre of opponent, what basis do we think we will be successful in either winning another cup with Ange next season or doing better in the league?

I’m not looking to bait, but rather ascertain how people think it’s going to be any different to this season’s league form?

What is interesting to me, is that at the peak of Pochettino, he got a new contract amid interest (heavy) from Man United among others.

No contract for Ange and no interest from literally anyone in the world in taking him from us.

Are you suggesting the club will leak to the media that there will be no search for a new manager? Because to that effect they are just putting out a statement through a 3rd party and you acknowledge there is some need for the club to do that at some level.

No I'm saying that the club won't make a statement if he's staying, and they have every right not to make one.

Fuck knows if any of that is true but the main thing is we need to fix the squad come what may, can’t wait for the Ange saga to finish.

Pep's Spurs hoodoo is so funny

Like I said in my previous post, I can see both sides - just being 17th doesn't tell the whole story, we have been absolute garbage but he has also done something that Poch, Jose & Conte failed to do and that is actually win us a trophy.

Had a similar chat last night with people at the pub.
Although I ended up convincing myself he has to go.

Overall I think we are seeing a man who is getting paid £5m a year who really wants to keep his job.

Whatever it takes. Including playing a brand of football that you have said you don’t know how to do and wouldn’t want to.

Which is fair enough. We won the trophy. But that’s probably the peak for him.

Everyone should just cash out now while the going is good.

We require a shed load of elite players to challenge for either the PL or CL. That isn’t accomplished in one window!
The squad we've got and the manager we've got will finish in the bottom half of the table and win nothing next year.

We all know that will happen. The overwhelming likelihood is that it will be another lost year. This squad cannot be made into CL or PL contenders in one window, and if it could be Levy wouldn't do it.

The falsehood is that sacking Ange and starting a new project would be taking a step back. We are already at the starting point. The manager and the squad were on near-relegation form for the entire season. There's no stepping back involved.

The only question is if we are going to waste another year pretending it isn't so

Point taken over Man city - no matter whose in charge of Spurs - citeh seem to be our Bitch!!
as for Liverpool 1-0 at home didn't really help when we had a second leg up in dipper land

I reckon this place self combusts if a decision isn’t communicated until the beginning of July! 😂

I think as well it depends on who we have lined up to replace him, it would need to be a massive name for me - someone on the same level as Conte when he came here.

Point is, Newcaste and Palace beat Liverpool and City in one off games, which we did manage to do.
I think we caught Liverpool in that first leg a little cold. They were not great and we were 100% on the ball that match.
Had it been a 1 off game with no 2nd leg, Liverpool may not have taken it lightly.
City have been terrible at times this season. Their reputation as a goliath has been far more daunting than the actual team.
