Downplaying the Europa League win talking about match stats or opponents is not valid justification for sacking Ange.

League form is, if you priorise League position over winning trophies.
I don't think anybody is doing that? I'm reading it as more of a nullification of the suggestion that the win should keep him his job.

Obviously, nullifying that point does lead you to just look at the league form though.

I'd also add that it's not as black and white as prioritising league form over trophies, everyone wants trophies I'm quite sure, some are willing to sacrifice league performance in preference of trophies, but only to some extent, last season and 17th place crosses the line for the vast majority I reckon.

Ange: "It's just who we are, mate. As long as I'm here, that's what we're going to do. Even with five men, we'll have a go"

Also Ange: wins a cup by not doing that at all, actually.

He can say what he likes if the trophies and cup semis and finals keep rolling in.

If he gets sides to scout our league performances to see how easy we are to beat, then on the day we are hard to beat - but progresses us in cups, good for him and us.

Does no one work on a Monday?

So we play possum in the league and take beatings?. So that we can win knockout games in the cup.. I don't know who's joking and who's being serious anymore?

Whilst I don’t think it’s enough to keep Ange on, winning the cup was more than the result. It was us eventually getting over the line that’s the big thing. Having a team that’s won something.

We’ve spent decades playing good football, bad football, being attacking, being defensive, world class managers (one still winning, one past his best), young up and coming managers, defensive managers, iPad managers, etc. We’ve tried the lot.

Ange is the only one who got us over the line. Doesn’t matter who we played, or how we played. He’s the first one in decades to be able to lift a trophy. I can certainly see the argument to let him carry on due to this.

I am sure that if Slott fielded a second eleven for most of the season, flirted with relegation, lost half their home games they too would win a Cup.

The issue isn't about ninety minutes of football is it?

here amongst the dying embers of the ange thread i feel like we should revisit all the old arguments one last time. ange caused all the injuries, celtic championships mean nothing, his schoolyard tactics, he's a fat cunt, etc... someone remind me always wins a trophy!

I keep reading about how easy and bad the teams we beat were, and then things like shots, xg, touches in box etc. on this forum, not some rival feed.

He got us in the super cup final and Champions League, so for me he deserves the crack at them. Worst case scenario is he gets sacked mid season and we have a bit of a write off year potentially, like the previous 16 season had been in terms of what the game is about - winning trophies, which is never easy.
