If trophies are all that matters let's by all means keep Ange on. Back to back relegations will see us competing in the EFL trophy, a real winnable cup. Just a few tiers further down we could get our name on the ever-prestigious FA Vase.
He isn't going to win a trophy this year. He won't win the CL and he can't win against decent PL clubs.

Again, all defenses of Ange are that he "deserves" to return, or that we "can't" sack him, not that we will win anything by retaining him. It's some sort of an idea that the club is indebted to Ange and we ought to write off next year out of gratitude.

thats 365 odds. paddy power and sky have frank at 8/11...all very weird. its a strange market to mark up tho.
Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your point, but those are not the same bets.
  • B365 bet is about who will our manager be by mid-August, so can include Ange.
  • Sky and PP are bets on who will be our NEXT manager, so don't include Ange.
Hence those odds make sense. Well, as I say, unless I'm misunderstanding you. The odds were much more strange a week or so ago, the 2nd and 3rd favourites with some bookies were down at like 4/1 or 5/1, yet up at 30/1 with another bookie - have look back a few pages and you'll see - think it was Poch, Xavi and another, can't remember exact details.

Manager markets are often weird though - someone becomes the big favourite, everyone bets on them, prices plummet to odds on, then the next day they're out at 30/1, bookies have made a killing, and the next favourite surfaces. It's often like that it seems. In fact right now is about as stable and normal a market as I've ever seen. :)

Maybe not the big trophies but can win an fa cup or LC if he bins off the league.
I don't know how we could expect him to win a domestic cup when he's had four chances already and hasn't done it, will return the same team and tactics, and has proven that by and large he cannot beat decent PL opponents.

We reached the SF of the LC, beating Man City, Man UTD and Liverpool in the first leg.

Having won the EL, there’s zero reason to believe Ange and this squad couldn’t win the FA Cup next season.
