Competence would be a big step up from what we've been subjected to this season.
I agree with the idea of getting a manager in the vein of Xavi in principle but in reality can you honestly say the ongoing battle he had with the Barcelona board in his final season brims you with confidence about his compatibility with Levy/ENIC? Having worked with a difficult board at Barcelona what makes you think Xavi, who will surely be aware of Daniel Levy's reputation (or swiftly become aware of it upon interest being made clear) would want to roll the dice with such a notoriously difficult chairman?I’ve said for ages I’d go after Xavi
I’d at least see the dream and the daring in that appointment, even if there’s risk involved,
Would help massively with the dressing room too
Johnson, Bergvall and Gray were all heavily recruited by Brentford but ultimately they all decided they weren’t excited to work with Frank. Now he’s following them here like they can’t get away from him.
Turn up with what looks a plan would be a good start!
We've had great coaches and "loads of coaches". All failed before! Just go back in our recent history to see some of the shockers we've had and early rounds we've crashed out of.
Fact is Ange got it done! If it was so easy it wouldn't be our first European trophy in 41 years!
Woah, back up and finish... what decade of Villa were you comparing us to???
edit: for the benefit of the tape, it appears to be the 1981/82 season where Villa finished 11th and won the European cup. Only the 44 years ago
ah yes Iraola ,got sacked by his team in cyprus cause he didnt win a game for two months lolFor me i would go all out for iraola. Pay over odds. De zerbi next choice for me. Frank I get vibe is to climb the table next season and consolidate. Tuchel and poch available next year to keep options open.
yea get him out! absolute fucking loser of a bloke. The Extra Mile(sey) if Milesey goes as well, I'm running around the block starkers.
Of course you could. But seeing as Conte, Mourinho, Pochettino and Redknapp couldn't (with better teams) I'm going to suggest it took this incredibly weird and fucked way for us to get finally do it.
I think you forgot a little something...Turn up with what looks a plan would be a good start!
Have a balanced approach between attack and defence.
Challenge at the top end of the table, pushing for a CL place.
Take the domestic cups seriously.
Get out of CL group phase.
Not get embarrassed by lesser teams we should beat.
Bring on the younger players and integrate some of the academy prospects.
What did you expect Ange to deliver this season if he had stayed on?
There's nothing to hindsight, that's why.So far not one of the self proclaimed football experts who wanted Ange gone have explained what the new guy will do.
Fair enough, I sat through all the home games and Villa/Liverpool away cup games, and most of it was pretty grim.I hear what you are saying Mrs P, but overall 90% of our football these past 18 months has been turgid, even in the way we won the final, there was no trace of what we as Spurs fans have come to expect as a minimum. Football with flair, imagination and a bit of a swagger win lose or draw.
Therefore I doubt very much that Ange, and in his guidance, his coaching staff could have made that 180 turnaround, and personally I would not have wanted to give him another season with my club to experiment in trying to do that!
We've appointed Ryan Mason as Head Coach.
Given a choice would you take finishing fifth in the league. Champions league spot.Conte didn't play in it, Mourinho definitely had a worse team (by far it was shocking) and Conte actually had a worse team too, he just had one world class footballer .. the squad in general was shocking. And he went out in the conference league because like with Harry we just didn't take it seriously.
I will credit Ange with one thing: he took it seriously. That alone probably meant we won it ... well alongside the draw, no amount of caring gets us to beat some of the teams in it last year. But he clearly put full effort in to it, I just find it shocking that some fans think that this should be enough to save his job.
Have followed Tottenham my whole life. Was enraged on this forum when we sacked Jose just before a cup final despite a lot of people on here saying it was a good idea then, was fuming when we got rid of Pochettino too early. Levy consistently has made awful decisions on sacking managers at key times and now he's done it again. No love for Baldcunt, but you really need to go follow Ange to his next club and continue the love affair.
It doesn't have to be over.
Keep the flame alive, my guy.
Good luck!
The Europa every time. But we can't do the same this year. This is a one off season. It's been abject for 90% of it. I would finish 17th every year if a trophy was guaranteed. But it's not. I feel a lot of people are getting carried away and thinking we will win something with Ange in this year. I see a lot of posts about going back to being trophyless now he's gone, like he was going to win anything this year anyway.Given a choice would you take finishing fifth in the league. Champions league spot.
Or 17th but Europa winners and champions league spot.
