Stop putting everything on luck.

I haven't.

They didn't earn shit on PEA and Luiz. Zilch. Nothing.

I didn't say they earned anything....

PEA was a toxic dosser on a big wage and Barce have already farmed him out after 6 months. and Potters fed up with him after a matter of weeks.

Luiz was rare in that he was prepared to rip up his deal and move back to Brazil.

......That IS good fortune that amounted to over half a million per month save.

They just saved a max of 15M on wages, WHICH IS WHAT WE PAID FOR JOE RODON! The difference between succeeding and failing isn't 15-20M.

No; but it's the price of Tomiyasu (EG) plus wages and maybe just as importantly a non-HG squad spot.

Doesn’t matter anyway as it seems di marzio has jumped the gun.

Maybe alone in this but if we had actual confirmation Conte was going it wouldn't be the end of the world. At least the situation would have clarity.

It doesn't miraculously mean Conte was going to give less effort or try to lose.
Not saying it's an ideal situation but at least there would be clarity on anything related to the club.

Can’t blame Conte for not coming back next season.

I wouldn’t want to be at a dead-end job any longer than I had to.

Conte wouldn’t give less effort but you could bet your house on the players downing tools.

Fair point.

Some of them are so familiar with the pattern by now that they probably already have. Psychologically Kane and Son are very much included in that. The difference between Kane and Son is that he has personal goals for records to beat and he can play this game with his eyes closed. Son is a much more emotional player.

You responded to my post that it didn't impact them in the long run with the example of "They were incredibly lucky with PEA and Luiz", as if that was the only reason that they're seeing the benefit of their patience/work now.

Tomiyasu is the least impactful player that they have in the club, besides Cedric and Elneny. So that's a terrible example of a difference-maker.

There was no "as if" and no I didn't suggest it was the "only reason"........ Just a comment pertinent to the overall convo,

FFS.... Stop putting words and increased emphasis in my mouth.

Take the cash aspect of it out of the equation altogether; shifting PEA & Luiz was still 2 valuable non-HG spots in the squad. That alone would be very useful to us right now.

Fact is; if you think Arse can afford to just blunder around and fuck up signing after signing like Chavs and City can then you're extremely mistaken.

Nuno had imposter syndrome; so that doesn't work too.
come on you spurs champions league GIF

Second round baby

Agree, this applies to all walks of life.

If you're a naturally ambitious person that wants to perform well but you are being prevented from doing so by your boss you move on.

I think Conte was aware when joining that he wouldn't be getting 200m every transfer window but I think he has only just realised the true lack of ambition from the top and he doesn't want any part of it.

The real convo with Di Marzio was more like “who are you and how did you get this number?”

Seems he’s clarified his comments which were part of a wider conversation on an interview. The aggregators then did their usual trick of spinning it. I’m a dick for falling for it. It seems nothing has changed at all.

So, our feeling is that Antonio Conte, at the end of the current season, will ask the club to terminate this adventure and, maybe, come back to Italy, to stay closer to his family, with new opportunities. But, as things stand, what Conte asked Spurs is now to put his future in stand by, after their contract proposal: there are no negotiations ongoing and he hasn't asked yet to leave and he's fully focused on Tottenham.

Real translation: “I spoke the truth too soon.”

Or maybe;

When Levy's hand was forced to turn to Conte, when the early collapse under Nuno led to 'ENIC out chants', both Levy and Conte agreed to a deal where Conte keeps the seat warm for Pochettino or similar.

Levy only reacts when the collapse of season ticket / match ticket sales becomes a distinct possibility.

If Levy could have got away with Nuno he would have stuck with him.

Neither Jose or Conte were managers that fit with ENIC's stewardship of THFC.

Appointing both was to create the illusion of ambition without actually demonstrating serious ambition.

It's looking more and more likely to me that Richarlison is actually Harry Kane's replacement.

Richalison's transfer fee and Conte's 15 million a year wages will be recovered by any incoming fees for Son and Kane.

All roads appear to be leading to the departure of Conte, Kane and Son.

Season ticket holders have been Levy'd.
