So after 3 months chasing Nuno around, letting Nuno have a summer transfer window to work with, get 10 games into the season, our all mighty, all wise, all knowing, all seeing chairman has come to the conclusion Conte is the man….
The same Conte who was doing exactly what he’s being doing since May, nothing, is all of a sudden available and interested in managing this football club…..Amazing what a full South Stand not showing the chairman any love can make happen….

Plenty of managers park the bus it certainly doesn't mean they are the same manager.
Inter Milan were crowned Serie A champions for the first time since 2009/10, and for the first time since Mourinho left the club.

It is ironic then that the first manager to win the Scudetto with Inter since Jose is Antonio Conte, but not just because the two coaches have clashed on a number of matters over the years.

The irony lies in the fact that Conte’s Inter bore a remarkable resemblance to Mourinho’s Inter, both tactically and in spirit.

Mourinho’s crowning glory with Inter was perhaps not beating Bayern Munich in the Champions League final in 2010, but rather beating Barcelona in the semi-final that year.

Barcelona registered more than 73% possession in the second leg of that tie, with Mourinho actually claiming after the match that his side deliberately gave the ball away so as not to lose focus.

The parallels then to Conte’s Inter are almost scary, with the Italian manager having come under scrutiny this season for his “park the bus” approach to football.

Inter averaged a little over 52% possession this season, just the ninth highest in the division, while at the San Siro, Inter have somehow seen even less of the ball, with their average possession stats dropping below 50% when at home.

Inter won Serie A with the lowest possession stats since these sort of metrics began to be recorded; the first step in the re-emergence of 'anti-football'.

So someone writes an article full of shit you think that means something?

It’s what you have to do with less than stellar squads - look at the issues we have breaking down massed defences, even in the prime Poch years.

Makes you wonder about Kane if the poaching style of Milan is to be used - he doesn’t have Lukaku’s pace or strength, really? Dunno.

On their way to Europa League glory United beat St Etienne, Rostov, Anderlecht, Celta Vigo and Ajax. Aside from that final it was basically a conference league run, and Ajax then were all kids who wouldn't develop for a couple of years. He spent hundreds of millions and that was his big brag at the club. Jose's sacking at Chelsea was very different to Conte's too, under Jose they were in freefall and bottom half, Conte won a trophy and got 5th.

He's pretty washed up. Can still win a couple of minor trophies but he's not one of the really big managers anymore. Not exactly going well at Roma either, and after that I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at Newcastle to boost their profile. No elite club touch him with a bargepole anymore.
I think thats a really good shout that he'll go to Newcastle to boost their profile. Worth a few quid punt me thinks!

Was worth a punt: if Nuno was a decent coach, but I suspect he couldn’t handle the egos, and the Kane saga really didn’t help him.

People are rightly giving Kane a ton of shit for his performances this season, but it's not all down to his disappointment over the City transfer. Nuno's football totally destroyed the Kane/Son machine that even Mourinho and Mason got right. It's not only Kane who has fallen off a cliff under Nuno, but Son as well. He was so shit that even a truly committed Tottenham man like Son could barely get a chance in most matches despite trying as hard as ever.

Conte knows that if he doesn't need to build the most elegant system in the world to win matches with those two in the XI, he needs to find something functional that allows them to get their shots away. Do that and our form will quickly turn around. Then we can hopefully add more quality in the market and start to evolve.

The Kane/Son machine really lasted 11 games. Son was leading the league in goals, Kane assists, and we were #1 in the tables. That was just a flukey purple patch.

Outside of those 11 games, they looked pretty normal.

Why Sanchez? He's shown that sooner or later he's continuously a liability. Rodon is only slightly above average too right now. Fine as part of a squad but nowhere near good enough for the first team for any club that actually wants to do things.

Just believe there's a good player with good attributes in there. Speed, not bad in the air, good tackler.

I suppose much like Aurier, all the good stuff undone by the brainfarts.

I'd really like to see Dav succeed, but I accept he just might not be good enough.

I don't care about possession stats. We had plenty of possession under Nuno and AVB and they produced some of the most boring football we've played.

Big difference in Conte and Mourinho is that Conte teams actually use quality transitions, Mourinho uses individual brilliance.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 5 AT THE BACK MATE ??
I'm looking forward to Conte. He was my choice in the summer and I think he's the right person now to give this club a fucking wake-up call.

Most of my issues with a back five aren't applicable to Conte as he's an absolute specialist in that area and one of the world's top coaches. He doesn't play a back five because it's fashionable, or because he's run out of ideas and is looking to paper over defensive issues and hope for a scrappy and undeserved 1-0 win. He understands attacking movement with that system, whereas Nuno couldn't have coaxed attacking intent out of a feral tiger.

Conte is the only coach going right now that I believe can bully his way through this fucking pathetic complacency that has infested the entire club from the head nodding boardroom down to that horrible tea lady.
