Conte has failed in many respects. But yesterday was all on the players. When you concede 30 seconds into the half, and again two minutes after going 3-1, that reeks of “we got this wrapped up” attitude. The fact that we were playing the last place team was surely on their minds.

Okay, so hard to disagree but it's also ensuring as much as is possible that you as manager instill that need.

But yes to a large extent..

Forget top 4.

We need a manager who helps us to compete with the best.
And the first thing that manager will do is assess the squad and request better players.

In 2017 (our peak Poch year) we had Toby and Jan at CB and Dembele and Wanyama at CM (with a supporting cast of Rose, Walker, Eriksen, Alli, Kane, Son, Hugo etc.)

Now we have Dier and Davies, Lenglet, PEH, Skipp covering those vital positions. It's a huge drop off in quality not to mention mentality. 6 years since 2017 and we've never got back to that level. None of our current crop of CMs would get in that team, only Romero would challenge those CBs.

I remember the battle of the bridge, yeah we lost our heads, but the players were up for the fight, they cared immensely, the mentality was strong.

We rolled over against Sheffield United, Leicester, yesterday and other days. We weren't up for the fight. Dier retreated onto the goal line instead of marking Walnutt, Kane stood next to him. He's not coached to do that, it's his default response to danger, he's not good enough, none of our 6 CBs are good enough bar Romero.

What Conte said was correct, the mentality is wrong, and the players once on the pitch must take responsibility, show some character and work for each other. If they can't or won't then they need to go elsewhere.

Who picks the players?

Maybe, but there’s only so much a manager can do. Anyone can manage us, the players should not allow the last place team to score three times in 30 minutes. Jose couldn’t change the mindset, Conte couldn’t.

Shock to no one who saw the quotes and didn't just watch cut videos.

Still should be gone.

That tweet is just nonsense, no offence to you . When he said the owners … the staff , that wasn’t directed solely at the players p. Gold does talk some rubbish , sometimes

How many top class manager can be wrong ffs!

Do we think Pep, Klopp, Ancellotti, Touchel will do better?
The answers in NO.

It's bloody obvious Paratici and Levy are buying the players and Spurs managers have no say. Never ending whoever is the manager.
Pep, Klopp and Touchel wouldnt be able to do much better either. Ancoletti is used to playing with shit squads (everton), so he'd have a chance.

What rubbish you spout. Honestly agenda on display.

Boring and simply wrong.

We get to finals and semi-finals but lose because of ENIC and Levy.

How much tripe will people fall for. Incredible
Wait, your honest assessment is that this is all Conte's fault and that the only reason Spurs is a club that can't win things has been down to each successive manager down the chain?

They clearly dont have the first clue what to do next, not for the first time. They've totally snookered themselves. Sack him and look like mugs as he was pointing out truths. Keep him and look weak and indecisive. Appoint Poch and its an admission you were wrong to sack him in the first place. Their ownership is starting to feel like sabotage at this point such is the ineptitude.
Its all about money to them, I can guarantee whatever was said in the meeting with Conte went along the lines of qualify for the top 4 as we want the CL money.
End of.

They probably agreed Conte would have to leave at the end of the season. This little episode will get brushed under the rug from the rest of the world. It's us fans who live it day in and day out that will remember but that doesn't matter come the summer.

Different story however if we don't get CL. I'm actually not bothered about CL anymore.

My assessment is that if we get the manager right, the argument becomes moot.

What constitutes 'right' is the area of biggest contention.

Conte is not that person but the blame for aspects on the pitch cannot be laid at ENIC's door. That's ridiculous.

Mate, it's quite clear he says that in 20 years, the players have been absolved of blame and people are always blaming managers and the board.

It's clumsily delivers due to his frustration, anger and the language barrier but it was evident that was the case when you read full quote and not edited version of a video.

He's sick of the players getting a free pass. This was basically Conte's version of Mourinho saying "different coach, same players"

He did, in the full quotes.

"I'm really upset and everyone has to take their responsibility. Not only the club, the manager and the staff, the players have to be involved in this situation because it is time to change this situation if Tottenham want to change.

"If they want to continue in this way, they can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. Believe me."

Conte has failed to rectify the situation with the players and that is clearly what we are paying him for and the football has been awful this season.

However, the old saying "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink" comes to mind.

Every manager we get it's the same damn issue with these players, there is an attitude problem at this club which allows the players who come here to feel comfortable and just pick up a pay packet and that comes from the top, the chairman and owner couldn't give a shit about trophies and that leaks down on to the players imo.
I don't see him point a finger at himself as an inapt coach. Everyone must take responsibility is the closest he gets. What in your post is Conte Quotes?

Of course there is no smoke without fire about his critique towards the club. There is surely a certain non demanding culture within the club. But he as the manager hasn't been able to wash away any of that. Mourinho didn't either.

I think it's all about belief. No coach, after Dembele left has been able to coach the team to play football the players believe in. If you believe, and if this gets results you can accomplish something. This isn't happening at Tottenham, not after the good seasons with Pochettino.

I'm pretty sure that it we had gotten ten Haag in, instead of Nuno we would be in a totally different situation now. He had made a team full of player playing for themselves into a team playing as a team and for the team.

If he's not going to be here next season I really can't understand why we don't get the new guy in as soon as possible and give them some real games to get acclimatised to the squad. Outburst or no outburst. New manager bounce could have eve helped top 4 chances.
The new guy is already here …..

Long time lurker to this board but had to create an account to reply to this.

It's this ignorance that makes the Spurs fans probably the biggest ownership apologists in the PL. Let me take you back to 17/18 champions league final, Liverpool vs Real Madrid. Liverpool on the cusp of winning the biggest trophy in Europe. What happened? Their keeper bottled it. Klopp half protected him from the media but knew he'd never rely on him ever again. What did the owners do for Klopp? That's right, they backed their man and spent £66m on Alisson - £66m on a goal keeper, notwithstanding what they'd already spent on VVD. What happened the following season? Oh that's right, they beat us in the champions league final with that man in goal. The ownership had absolutely everything with Liverpool getting over the line.

Now what did Enic do on our road to European glory that same time? They broke the premier league record for not signing a single player for an entire calendar year. Now before you say, "but muh shiny new stadium cost a lot of money", if you're in the business of football and you have to sacrifice footballing matters for an entire year with a squad already in decline, at best that is poor planning and at worse, gross negligence. Poch got us to a European INSPITE of Levy and Enic, not thanks to them and they rewarded him with the sack the following season.

Keep apologizing for Enic & Co, enjoy the Beyonce show and do let me know how fast the go-karting track is.

Why didn't we get it in their half and go to the corner flag like other teams do?
Correct we never had control of the game at all so when 3-1 up we just continued as we were but sitting even deeper and with less attacking threat once “it’s nothing to do with me” decided to take off our only attacking threats. Left Son on as well would have better with Lucas or danj coming on to run at them and move the ball forward.

We've beaten lesser teams in various competitions over the years, it doesn't mean much.

One constant at the club yes, but that shouldn't give the managers or the players any excuse, you can't just point to upstairs purely because you can't beat Sheffield United.
Correct! Ofcos he always has an exscuse lined up. Funny how he never mentioned this shit after other ganes? We’re the players all selfish when we won games by chance?
