On top of all the other business we need to do this summer? His most impressive performances were at right back where he showcased some impressive passing range in a couple of games.
At central midfield he was in the 1 percentile for progressive passes for the majority of the season. He refused to play it forward and went for the safe option (which is impossible to do at RB as there's nobody behind but a goalkeeper).
If we are a serious club we would loan him and Bergvall and bring in 2/3 actual quality cm's but we are not.
Yeh let's do that and finish 15th, can't wait.On top of all the other business we need to do this summer?
Or we could keep them, play them and develop them, rather than spending umpteen millions blocking their pathways.
Let’s sign Palinha and finish 17th. Can’t wait
But we already need to buy a keeper, no.6, striker, at least one winger, replace JP if he doesn't stay and probably a versatile 10 too.
I know you live in your own universe and everything but are you actually saying that Archie Gray is CURRENTLY a better player than Palhinha? You're not honestly saying this are you?
Yeh cool story bro.But we already need to buy a keeper, no.6, striker, at least one winger, replace JP if he doesn't stay and probably a versatile 10 too.
That's 6 players on top of the 2 we've already got (including Senesi there).
You think we'll add another 2 or 3 cm's on top of that?
Next season, Bergvall and Gray are another year older and with more experience, so to give them games and subs in a functioning, organised, possession based team won't be that dramatic.
It's not like we'll be solely reliant on them together for each and every game but there will still be enough minutes for them to play.
Archie Grays overall stats were as follows (compared to other similar midfielders)Waffle
Objectively, Gray is young and has plenty to learn. He needs to be more assertive and more consistent.
And you still dig out those stats as if he didn’t massively improve in the later stages of the season after Frank left and you flat out refused to accept that when he came into the team to break up the Palinha and Bentancur partnership, the team instantly looked better. You also flat out refuse to accept that he’s scored goals and assisted goals that won points that we would have been relegated without. You also refuse to accept that he’s covered pretty much every position and put in high level performances against some of the best teams we’ve played
And then you have the nerve to talk about objectivitygo sign Scotty Canham for your dream midfield

We should be bringing in 2 new central midfielders (I mean you yourself wanted 3). If we got the three midfielders YOU wanted, in what world does Gray play??
Archie Grays overall stats were as follows (compared to other similar midfielders)
20 percentile in touches
17 percentile in chances created
17 percentile in shot attempts
37 percentile in defensive contributions
36 percentile in aerial duals
It's hilarious because you literally called Palhinha and Bentancur shit earlier in the season(despite both having far better stats btw) and made no mention of part of the reason being Thomas Frank yet you defended Grays earlier horrendous stats (of being in the 1 and 2 percentile of many of the stats) by saying it was Thomas Franks fault.
How deliciously hypocritical.
Right ok ....Context matters. They are senior pros who should have been driving the team to play better. Gray was having bad stats from being used in bits and pieces, in different positions. Once he got a run in midfield, he clearly made the team better and then his stats will have started improving. Stats aren’t the main thing here though. The eye test was clearly better for small sample size data like this.
I'm no body language expert but seeing RDZ and Gray cwtching after the Everyone game gives me the sense they're on the same page.
I'd wager Archie stays and plays loads this season.

Because they were playing shit and needed them not to be playing shit.Right ok ....
So why did you continuously call two of our players shit throughout the first half of the season when context mattered?? Or context matters sometimes?

Yeh you're not ok are you?Because they were playing shit and needed them not to be playing shit.
