Cannot believe this was just ten months ago. Was one of the best matches I've ever watched.

:windy:
Im not saying AVB was great up until yesterdays match, but we would not have lost like that if Paulinho had stayed on and Im sure Levy would have been less likely to sack him if it was a 3-2 or 3-1 loss.... You tit
NOW NOW since our ban we are promoting goodwill to all at this festive time:windy:this of course does not include those pikey cunts this week

Yeah, it was... it was our Cup Final! Precisely what we accused 'small-time' West Ham of doing when they beat us 0-3...
I'm not saying we shouldn't savour or enjoy these wins... but, like yesterday, they still only represent 3 points (won or lost) we're not going down 'cos of yesterday(!!) same as I didn't think we'd win the league 'cos of ONE win at OT in half a generation!
Those wins need to be year-in-year-out to truly establish yourself... you just know that no one will give us much hope of repeating last season't win up there on New Year's Day...? but why not? Just 'cos we won there once, shouldn't mean we'll never do it again... so to treat it like some one-off cup final is exactly what affects the mindset that this feat will never-be-repeated!
Remember, we beat a much better United up there last season, than we'll be facing this season...
ah, AVB helped us do that, didn't he?

Bollocks, you win!

moreover, we haven't lost to them since, and probably should've won both games

the tides are turning :chicco:

he was getting some shite result, but sacking him now doesnt seem to solve much problems

who's gonna replace him?
sherwood? ffs

haters gonna hate,
but i say he needed a bit more time before he got the boot

Totally do. Paulinho directly to blame for AVB's sacking. If we had lost 2-1 or 3-1, no problem just keep on keeping on but 5-0 is an embarrassment and that red completely changed the game. Must say if we do fail to get top ten this season at least we will know who the true fans are.

You do realise Liverpool could've been 4 or 5-0 before the red card, hardly changed the game.

No matter how you view it, the buck stops with the players - and the board, who are willing to listen to them.

Some things are only clear within hindsigt. For me, after a day of contemplating the shipwreck of our (and I quote)

"long term project" (abandoned after 1½ year, not even 10 pts after the league leaders)

the players stopped playing for AVB a long, long time ago. Some more obvious than others. Players like BAE, Ade, Dembele are obvious examples, but when you just look at hightlight let alone whole games, more than just a few patterns emerge.

That fact makes me ever so sad. Has modern football really come to this?

Let us be perfectly honest: This was not a results decision. We have 22 games to play, 66 pts to play for and we are 5pts after CL, 8 pts after the leaders. Neither was it a quality of football decision. Yes, some of the football has been appalling, some of the pride dented at WHL (twice) and Etihad will be hard to forget for a while.

But we were much, much worse in large periods under Jol, under Ramos and under Redknapp (an entire half a season, in fact) - and the results were even worse.

The buck stops with the players. When he is sacked now, then it is because - and only because - it has come to Levys knowledge, that the players will not be performing for AVB. Not yesterday, not wednesday, not in the next 5-10-15 games. They simply will not. It is deductive logic. One thing is playing poorly. Another thing is, having positive knowledge, that it will not be better, no matter what the manager does.

The timing is a bad as can be; We play WHU, set piece and pressing specialists in 2 days, of the entire defence only 2 fit rightbacks left, Christmas programme lurking and the ex-manager will take entire coaching staff but for Freund (LOL) and Ferdinand (LOOOOOOOL) with him out the door.

Which blatantly implies, that the Liverpool result was not the last drop for Levy. It was planned in advance. Which brings me back to my first point. The results are quite good, the game however is poor and there is no hope of it getting better. No matter what the very expensively sacked manager and his entire backroom staff would have done.

Why? Because the players had enough.

I don't know what you feel. But I would like to see the names of those players and have the publically shamed. And then flogged in the jan transfer window. And I don't even cared whether it is the flops, whether is is the old chums guard, whether it is the AVB outcasts, whether it is our proud captain (who AVB tried to get out this summer - ask me for Meulensteens story, if you care to read it, about just that situation!) or whether it is our IMHO stars like Hugo, Jan and Sandro. I want to players who stabbed the manager, no matter who he was, out right away. They can all just fuck right off.

Oh dear

Backing AVB over the team, playing staff and Chairman (pretty much the club then)

On the back of the exact same thing happening at Chelsea, wouldnt you even consider the possibility that AVB may not be as perfect and ideal and innocent as you are prepared to believe?
