Honestly,this makes zero sense unless he’s staying on as part of the new coaching staff!
We are going backwards. Ben has been a good player for us but not for a while now. He’s not even a stop gap option. If teams see him playing they would get a lift. I wonder who thought this was a good idea
I think this shows that there is a lot of business to be done this season - for example we are no clearer on whether Romero is insisting on moving, and if its Atletico Madrid they will plead poverty so we will not get enough money to replace Romero -so replacement might be £30m/£40m more than we get for Romero. And there are other players to be moved on and replaced.
CL squad rules are tighter than PL squad rules so its perfectly possible that Ben is not in CL squad but in PL (and domestic cups) squad (one of possibly up to 3 or 4 players) , so he's available to play in some matches where we want to rest other players.

I've read that the club are trying to organise a swap with Inter; Bisseck for Dragusin but I don't know if he's good enough to be a regular starter in place of Romero. I suppose Davies will be used for certain matches in the domestic cups.

Also worth remembering that Frank will want the option of playing 3 CBs, so makes sense to keep Ben in reserve for now.
Davies is a decent interchange and HG. Clearly was going to stay when the club announced that Forster, Whiteman and Reggie were leaving at the end of their contracts but didn’t include Davies. I’m a little bit surprised by the bed wetting in here when his contract extension was announced.

He didn’t suit Ange’s high line but he’s far too passive now to play in any system in the premier league.
Pleased for Ben. He’s been thoroughly professional throughout his Spurs career. A good club man and useful in the squad. He’s not going to start often so not worried at all.

Nowadays, a just about acceptable squad filler for the lesser opposition matches. It's a young team so his experience is worthwhile.

Well console yourself that with no manager in place Levy might just be triggering the contract extension so he can get a fee for ben if any new manager thinks Ben is excess to requirement rather than let him walk away on a free.

Probably, he will play mostly domestic cup matches if he is here next season.
Bisseck might not be an automatic starter on day 1, but he's already been capped by Germany so might well be good enough by Christmas if you look at how quickly Bergvall developed from a much lower base.
The issue with Dragusin is that he's not that good with ball at his feet (although a very competent defender) , so if Bisseck is thought to be an upgrade in ball playing etc then providing the upgrade doesn't cost too much cash to go with Dragusin, it sounds a decent deal.
Danso is not as good as Romero when Romero is playing at his best, but we haven;t seen enough of those Romero appearances for last year (although he did well in EL semi final and final), so if we had to start Danso a little more whilst Bisseck 'caught up' I don't think its a disaster.
Davies has not been considered a guaranteed first team starter for a couple of years, since Conte, the fact he has played a reasonable amount is due to a combination of injuries and manages have thought him a decent option in reserve. I think we will have a bigger squad next season so think its likely he will not make CL squad, but the PL and domestic cup squad where player eligibility rules mean we can have 3 or 4 extra players (see Player - Player Squad 2025/26 )
