Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He got an assist today because of the brilliance of porro. I'm just not seeing a guy capable of being able to do what is required from a right forward in this team with this style of play. Super sub maybe but no way good enough for what ange insists he wants us to he next year.
people read too much into stats. go on like assists are kdb like passes that put it on a plate.

watch the fucking games!

an interesting assist stat would be what was the XG it created. tom carroll got one for bale against west ham, hes probably 0.001 to score from where hes picked the ball up. shouldn't even get an assist if its lower than a certain number.

Shouldbt be too hard on him just yet. Hes 21. Had a fairly decent season imo. Were a way bigger club than florist so our expectations are very high. Young players need confidence building. I think hes a top prospect. Shouldnt be too hard on him. If he waa 27/28 then critism maybe valid. Theres a lot more to come from him imo.

...don't you mean Nottingham Florist!

He's never going to be a world beater but he's already decent and has the potential to become a good to very good Premier League player over the next year or two. He strikes me as someone who will have the right mentality and attitude to want to improve and get better which is always important.

32 games. 15 G and As.

What exactly do his detractors want extra from him?
Ball control, pressing, passing, dribbling, game intelligence, hold up play, through-balls, strength in the tackle, ability to kick the ball with his wrong foot, shooting from more than 5 yards out, ability to finish from one yard out, hit a cross over knee height, ability to cut inside...

You know, the usual things people want from their wingers.

stuff youd expect a professional footballer to be competent at...especially on that cost 50 fucking million.

I think I’d prefer him to figure out how to shoot from less than 5 yards out judging this season’s results.
:pochshock:

Johnson has been awful. His decision making and passing is too slow. He can’t cross and he has poor close ball control, He would do better in a team that plays on the counter and allows him acres of space to run at opponents. He is probably barely even scraping it as a Premier League player. €50 milion or whatever Spurs paid is a terrible investment.

If Spurs want to go to that next level of competing with the top 3 they are going to need better stock than Johnson and Sarr. Don’t be blinded by one or two half decent performances, it’s not just his consistency that is a problem it’s his fundamental ability.

At Forest his strong point was his finishing so not worried about that at all tbh. My concern prior to him joining was that I didn't think he had the ability to provide that many assists in his locker and the guy got 10 league assists which is insanely good (and I can think of another 3 or so where he laid it on a plate). Only Watkins (13) and Palmer(11) have more assists.

Hes had a good first season and will improve a lot in the coming years.

Agree.

Looks like he will go away, think about his game, strengthen and add even more next season.

People get way too fixated on stats, they only give a small part of the overall picture. If we’re all honest with ourselves, realistically, he wouldn’t get anywhere near the starting 11 of any of the teams that finished above us

People hate on individual players for the shortcomings of the team as a whole way too much.

He's produced a decent enough G/A output for his first season which was stilted for a number of reasons.

Our forward line has been poor despite providing goals throughout, it's all very disjointed and inconsistent. In a system where the other two forwards weren't also severely limited in a number of attributes, Johnson's shortcomings wouldn't be nearly as obvious.

You can have carry one player who excels in one or two key areas but is limited everywhere else, and their output can make it a worthwhile ask, you can't get away with that with your entire forward line, which is what we've been trying to do this season.

He's also very effective in our press, to my eye/gut (I've not checked the individual stats to back this up at all, so going off feeling and vibes) he's the one forward that seems to consistently win the ball back high up the pitch.

yeh which was a complete contrast to his earlier showings with us where his defensive work left a lot to be desired. He has improved on that side immensely as the season went on.
