Ex-Spurs Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Its getting quite exhausting watching him start games, never taking on his man, passing back or losing the ball due to how physically weak he is in duels.

There isnt any positives for having him on the pitch.

If the club really want to progress and improve, Brennan has to be one of the first to go, and he's certainly the last player you want starting at St James.

10 passes and no dribbles from a winger in 45 minutes of football.
If that was abnormal for him you'd write it off but those graphs just highlight how poor he is and how he offers nothing at all to us
Don’t be too harsh- he did do one dribble on Saturday against Everton which got a few on here frothing at the gash! In all seriousness no serious team has him anywhere near their starting 11

I genuinely do not understand who scouted him and why the decision was made to sign him.

It was obvious from his first few performances, that his technical ability is on the floor and he has huge technical deficiences. If I could see it, what were the club thinking?

He never once stood out for Forest.

He’s so weak on and off the ball , plays like he’s scared he’s going to get tackled and hurt , non existing unless it’s a back post tap in , I will give Ange credit for that but now I only want to see him as a sub before he is sold in the summer.

I'm ok with him playing alongside Kudus like against Everton. He can provide width, stretch the play, be a threat in behind and track back.

This takes pressure of Kudus who can focus more on attacking and be less likely to be doubled up on because defenders have to keep an eye on Johnson's runs as well.

Yeah he's not a good footballer but in this role he doesn't really have to be.

It’s the same stuff we all spout constantly about this guy but my gripe is with the manager. What does he actually think he will offer in a game of football? I’d rather we play a completely different way than play him because he’s maybe the only one available. We must have a young player that would offer more. I feel
bad for the poor sods that turned up tonight and see him and Richarlison start for us knowing that they are going to offer nothing. These two would not start for any other premier league club but do for us sometimes. If they are still here in January and still getting on the pitch then I can’t muster the energy to travel 7 hrs for a home game to watch us. Over a £100 million on two players that offer zilch is an abomination.

He isn’t a threat in any way whatsoever. I remember the days when you used to earn your place on the pitch. Do fuck all and be hopeless but still get the chance to play with our great club. Absolute disgrace.

It's a case of the 'moneyball' era where data driven signings are taken more seriously than eye test stuff. Unfortunately it gets mirrored on this forum a lot of the time too; "he gets goals so he must be good". If you're looking purely at output then sure he's a pretty decent punt.

If you look at literally any other metric of involvement in the game or basic technical abilities, then you'll see what everybody else is seeing.

Being able to run in behind and attack the space is a threat.

It stretches the opposition and give them something to think about.

Spot on.

Frank should probably be wiser to starting a player that isnt very good at challenging for the ball at St James though Frank considered rotation, though I would have preferred anyone else.

Not when you're shit

Someone with pace like Sadio Mane gave defences to think about because he had an end product, Johnson is only really good in the box but every other facet of his play is poor so most of the time his pace is redundant.

I know people have said that Brennan isn't physical enough to play in the middle but maybe playing him there would toughen him up and if he can get on the end of balls and score the chances Richarlison squanders we might have a new fox in the box.
