Is it my imagination, or has Gil bulked up a bit in the past year or so? He didn't seem to be quite so tiny yesterday.
Has he cut his hair.... maybe that made the difference?

I've lost count how many players were said to be too lightweight but went on to be amazing players.

Wasn't the same said of Modric?

You can't be a quick, agile winger and be built like Harry Maguire
When you’re that lightweight you need to be modric levels on the ball, you could see modric talent the moment he got here.

Gil is not that, he’s technically quite good but nowhere near the level required when you’re that weak, he lost the ball literally every single time he had it last night except that one moment in our own corner.

He was slow in his decision making. Which is absolutely normal if you don’t play.

Modric did not come here and immediately play flawlessly. Certainly not in his first 12 minutes.

I don't know how you can see that in 12 mins, especially when he plays once every few months.

Can we not give him a more of a chance before we disregard him?

I do think there's a player there.

Just don't know if he'll ever realise that potential here. He's never going to get a chance over Richarlison, Son or Kulusevki in the wide positions and we don't play a central attacking midfielder for him to be tried there either.

There was a moment at the end of the Frankfurt game where we saw a glimpse of what he could bring. Work rate and desire to keep the ball in, skill and guile to then beat two men and progress the ball upfield to win the foul.

It's a shame how it's worked out so far.

modric did end up becoming a lot more powerful though. thats exactly what gil needs to do. the talent is unquestionable, theres a very very good footballer there. but he does need to become more powerful so he cant be so easily knocked about. if he can get this sorted he could be a weapon.

youd think the club would have him with specialist on a programme with his diet and nutrition laid out and a bodybuilding schedule. he needs his drinks spiked with creatine.

This wasn’t his first 12 minutes….

He’s played for us before and I’ve not seen anywhere near the level of talent necessary for
Someone that physically weak. He went on loan to Valencia in January and didn’t manage a single goal for them. To me he looks like an old fashioned winger and not very suited to the modern day inverted wide players who need to do a lot more than just run to the byline and put a cross in.

Hes currently the same age as lamela when he arrived and despite an Eric’s early struggles you could see there was a lot more there to work with than Bryan.

Superb little cameo, showed his ability which we knew he had but more importantly showed some grit at times. He is diminutive but he can play football. I can’t help but feeling selling him would be a huge mistake.

I thought in that short space of time he showed both why he is worth pursuing as a long-term prospect, but also why he isn't quite ready to be playing serious minutes for us right now. Did some bits wrong which needed to be right, but also showed some quality footwork and natural ability.

I'd say right now he is being used as much as he should, in cameos off the bench and hopefully in some domestic cup games.

great stuff for the pen, fucked it at first but then made up for it. actually looked to run in on goal which was needed that late on. should have had a goal if kane passes to him first time. that was the worst decision ive seen kane make.

“Superb” dear god, he won the pen with some good play after initially completely fucking up a counter attack, it was also on the back of a defensive fuck up and he has loads of space to drive into. Other than that it was much of the same loses it pretty much every time he has it and far too weak. Nothing player
