Totally damning of EFL.

But merely reflects many of the posts earlier in the thread. EFL requires a major overhaul, just not fit for purpose on the regulatory side and lacks any decisive strong leadership to deal with the likes of the current and previous Bury owners.

From what little I’ve read, they’re not associated with the old ground so will be starting from literally nothing. Don’t know if they’re just one of several groups trying to resurrect the club.

From what I understand from local media they are the only local club to play under the Bury name - no competition from Bury fc or other supporters groups who seem to have agreed Bury AFC is the best wat forward.

The old ground is the prize which I guess Bury AFC will try to get back to once the ground is no longer in the ownership of the old Bury FC under its old chairman Dale.

In the immediate future they will play wherever, and have secured a ground for next season - even though loyal Bury supporters mow the grass on the Bury stadium where no football is being played.

Viva Bury AFC - hope they do as well or better than Wimbledon AFC.

Ground purchase finally gone through, and the Bury fc and Bury AFC agreeing to come together ' we all want one club'

All sounds very positive atm

Since Bury's demise, a phoenix club, Bury AFC, has been set up.

They are currently ten points clear at the top of North West Counties League First Division North, having lost once all season.

Both fan groups have expressed the need for Bury AFC and the new Shakers to be fully aligned in the future.

Speaking to BBC Radio Manchester last month, Matt Pickup of Est 1885 said: "We want one club. All parties do, going forward.

"The working group we have with them (Bury AFC) has been positive and that's going to continue in the coming days and weeks."

He added that all parties were working on a target of football returning to Gigg Lane in August, in time for the 2022-23 season.

Hi all-lifelong Shaker (55) here.

We are in a bit of a pickle, at Gigg Lane with our previous owner vastly over-spending and our new one proving 'difficult' to say the least. Suffice to say we have a winding up order deferred to the 19th June and have started a crowd funding appeal.
I've been watching Bury all my days, and have seen Bury play every club competitively, apart from yourselves, the other North London lot, Villa and West Ham. We did have a two year spell in the 2nd tier, where we got to see alot of sides we wouldn't usually play against!

Obviously we will never play you in the league, but to play you in the Cup would be something special!

Bury can be a cracking day out fantastic including

If you can please help keep the dream alive, fivers, tenners and more if you can feel you can run to it!

Thanks in advance for any help.j

Best of luck, horrible position for any club.

Thought about contacting Kieran Trippier ? https://www.burytimes.co.uk/advertising/

Another incompetent cunt who couldn't run a chip-shop if his life depended on it. Then it's of course up to the supporters who can barely afford to chip in but can't stand the thought of losing their old club.

Right course of action would be to lock the cunts up and have them pay off any debts for the club. Reckon they are in better stead than the supporters to do so. Won't happen of course.

Anyway, hope you turn it around and perhaps in the future gain more power of the direction of the club.

Looks like the former chairman has a lot to answer for with a number of investment schemes going bust, including Bury FC in various capacities

The former Chairman Stewart Day, who seemed to have involved Bury Football Club in as some sort of capacity into a number of his property investment deals, many of which have gone bust (see media links above) which I suspect would have put Bury's future into doubt - nothing to do with football just (Possibly dodgy) property businesses which the Financial Conduct Authority seem to be being asked to investigate.

In late 2018 he then 'sold' Bury Football Club to the current Chairman Steve Dale, who has a number of liquidated companies in his past, and made a few 'interesting' business decisions such as taking out loans in Bury's name but paying 40% 'commissions' ‘We never got that money’: the inside story of Bury’s road to financial ruin and no doubt a few other things.

So all this is well beyond a football scandal.

To me the real problem started when the last set of Bury Football Club's accounts dated May 2017 showed it was running at a £2m pa loss and had negative assets (ie creditors exceeded assets) of £500k.

The EFL should be mandated to require the club and its owners to state within 30 days (or some short time) when and how they will remedy the issue. That way it stays a football problem where the finances are manageable.

Equally the EFL need to have far stronger rules on owners - and decline to accept owners who are not 'fit and proper' with any such owners bound to donate any ownership into an EFL trust with independent Directors to run the club until new owners for Bury who are 'fit and proper' come forward.

If necessary it becomes a 'strong arm' exercise to take control of the club - just as strong tactics were needed to wrest control of Liverpool away from Gilette and his mate just a few years ago..

Until EFL are forced to take on the responsibilities of a serious regulator there will be more Bury's….sadly.

Sadly unless something had happened recently the club is so full of liabilities ( created/incurred when Dale or his predecessor as Chairman) were in control that the club is probably unsaleable - liabilities greater than anyone could generate in profits from the club in years.

Unless a deal is done with the " owners" of these loans or liabilities which I imagine has to include a huge haircut being taken in the liabilities there can be no deal........and by the way the shares are worthless.

Dale saying he's "sold" the shares is just a version of " pass the parcel" ( or ticking time bomb' ) and a cruel joke on Bury fans - until a deal is done with the owners of the Bury 'debts"
