Anyone else thinking about going to this game? I went a couple of years ago and there was a decent turn-out; the away end is a decent covered terrace. If there was a good turn-out it could be quite a laugh. Aldershot is a complete hole though. It's a shame these games are not publicised more as the quality is pretty good...

The one day a week I work in Farnham happens to be this Friday. Definitely up for this! What time does it kick off? Edit - googled, 7.05pm. I had no idea they played U21 games in Aldershot.

Big Cockerel Big Cockerel it's 1 hour from Waterloo, so not too terrible.

Their match tonight against Man City is free... so hopefully Friday will be too.

Tottenham Hotspur visit the EBB Stadium on Friday evening for another half-term treat as they face Chelsea in a Barclays Under 21 Premier League clash.

Spurs are currently third in the table, six points ahead of 10th placed Chelsea, although – even after Monday’s 2-0 home defeat against Manchester City – the Blues have two games in hand.

Spurs boast an array of youth internationals in their squad – from England, the United States, Japan, Republic of Ireland, Serbia, Cyprus and Slovakia – plus England Under 21 winger Alex Pritchard and several players who have already made first-team debuts.

As well as Pritchard, midfielders Harry Winks, Anton Walkes and Josh Onomah have all played for the first-team, whilst goalkeeper Luke McGee has been an unused substitute. Right-back Kyle Walker-Peters – not to be confused with right-back Kyle Walker – is tipped to be the next Spurs Academy prospect to break through into Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Attacking midfielder Kenneth McEvoy already has League experience in loan spells with Peterborough United and Colchester United; Serbian defensive-midfielder Milos Veljkovic has been loaned to Middlesbrough and Charlton Athletic; Connor Ogilvie has featured for Stevenage, and midfielder Emmanuel Sonupe spent part of last season with St Mirren. Centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers, meanwhile, played for the USA at the Under 20 World Cup earlier this year.

Tottenham’s last visit to the EBB Stadium, in August 2013, was with a side featuring Harry Kane and Nabil Bentaleb.

Kick-off at the EBB Stadium is 7.05pm. Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, with season ticket holders admitted free.

CHELSEA U21S V SPURS - UGO'S PREVIEW
Posted on 30 October 2015 - 10:42
Team-mates on the youth international stage could find themselves locking horns tonight when we face Chelsea in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League at Aldershot

Both sides feature exciting young talent who represent a host of nations, with England in particular frequently fielding players produced by us and the Blues in their youth teams.

Ahead of what is always a fiercely-contested London derby, our Under-21s Coach Ugo Ehiogu says international friendships will be put to one side for 90 minutes at the Recreation Ground, with the onus on our players to produce good performances in a bid to win the game.

“There is never a need for extra motivation when we play Chelsea,” he said. “It’s a match between two very competitive academies and it always adds a little spice because a lot of the players go away on international duty together, so there is definitely a rivalry there.

“Both sets of players want to impress. Last season we drew away but should have won and beat them at home, so the high standards have been set and the challenge for our players is to match them.

“I never get tired of saying it – work rate and basics are key and then we like to think we’ve got the players to play good football.”

We go into the match off the back of a 1-1 home draw with Liverpool last week, a contest that saw midfielder Anton Walkes on the scoresheet for the third time in four games.

Ugo praised Anton for his contributions of late and confirmed he’s happy with the make-up of the squad as a whole ahead of our clash with the Blues.

“We have the right balance at the moment,” he added. “We’ve got players who can combine and play one-touch, two-touch in tight areas and we’ve got centre-halves and full-backs who can hit good diagonals.

“We also have wingers who want to run at defenders and cross it and Anton Walkes is a midfield runner who gets between spaces and is starting to find the habit of scoring.

“Goalscoring midfielders are gold dust so if we can polish and get more intent in his tackling and heading, the boy has a great chance.

“The motivation is there for tonight and if we take the chances we create, we’re confident of beating them.”

Kick-off is at 7.05pm this evening.

Squad: Glover, Voss, Amos, Bennetts, Carter-Vickers, Georgiou, Harrison, Lesniak, Loft, Maghoma, McEvoy, Stylianides, Veljkovic, Walker-Peters, Walkes.
