Here’s something else they’ve been up to. What else will come out of the woodwork that they’ve tried to cover up or bully journalists into retracting?
Manchester City are a grubby club with under the table dealings
IAN HERBERT: It was the Fordham episode which perhaps best illustrates the struggle for transparency in football and the reason why UEFA's decision to punish Manchester City is so right.www.dailymail.co.uk
No doubt the reason City have not cooperated is because we still don't know all the dodgy things they've done. There will be more, that’s the thing. So I do support good investigative reporters.
City have big problems now. They are tied into paying big wages to staff yet cannot continue paying the way they have before, it has to now be declared, meaning they will be in breach of FFP again. And at the same time they lose big revenue streams, both illegitimately inflated sponsorship deals which would not be accepted for FFP, and European football money. And the fine as well. And legal costs as well.
They will have to sell players, they need the cash and need to dump some wage liabilities. And, I expect, will continue some dodgy practices to try and appear to legitimately balance the books.
And the legal case takes time, so thats another problem. Do they bank on winning and change nothing, risking falling foul of FFP again if they then lose?
It’s a glorious nightmare for them.
