I don't think the crux of their problems are to do with Jota at all.

They'll miss his ability as a player of course, but their issues are down to their star men starting to decline, particularly Salah.

And integrating too many new faces in one go.

VVD isn't as good either.

Slot doesn't look like he has the answers at the moment and I wouldn't be surprised if West Ham beat them.

I don't think anybody can know for certain what the impact of Jota (RIP), dying in the manner he did has had on the whole Liverpool squad. It's impossible.

What I would say is that nobody said too much about any impact when Liverpool won their first 5 games, which some may have attributed to a galvanising effect. The truth at that point, like us but on a higher level, was that they weren't playing well. Now, some may say Jota's death has broken them. In that case, it would be fairiish to say they can't have it both ways.

I agree with your reasons, aside from the unknown of Jota. I am also pleased, Woolwich benefit aside because Liverpool and Isak (for once not only us) acted in a disgusting fashion over their summer courtship.

But in saying all that, I think what's happened is that they are just being punished mercilessly at every turn, and have next to no confidence on top of clear decline of Salah and Van Dijk. The scale however is quite astonishing.

If we had spent that much and lost that many games it would be so funny, because of the berks on here who think it's only money. It is much more than that. It's called right players at the right time, integrated as you say over a period of time.

Slot might turn it round, but it would not surprise me that if he was dismissed, it turned round quite quickly, with a new manager.

All in all fcuk them.

Am I the only one getting bored of the Jota thing being used as an excuse for their performance s this season? He was a colleague and after five years playing there, maybe a friend.

I’ve lost friends and family members that I had known for a fuck of a lot more than five years and I just got on with life. Took a few days to get a reasonable sense of reality and normality. They’ve had five months.

Am I the one in the wrong here? Sociopathic, cunty tendencies? Or are the `Liverpool squad a bunch of over emotional pussies?

Even Andy Robertson was at it after the recent Scotland match. We gave him a pass as it was a big night, but if he tried that in a pub in Rutherglen on a Friday night, he’d get stabbed.

It's an excuse to deflect criticism.

Dippers and gooners are always explaining something.

Concede 7 goals and their problems are at front.

I need to think that through..
No, what you need to do is read the post properly. I'll help, "suggests their problems are mainly up front."

They're losing from dominant positions, where they're creating shit loads of chances, but not converting over 90% of them. When your forward line is pants, it puts pressure on the rest of the team.

Their defence is most definitely suspect, but put away your chances and there's a greater likelihood that everyone else, defence especially, play with a lot more confidence.

I'd have thought that you, of all people, would appreciate that.

No you're not.

I lost my Mum earlier this year. It affected my work performance for a very short time then, once the grieving process had passed the worst, maybe 1-2 months, I hooked into my work.

The whole thing smacks to me of excuses, looking for the sympathy vote to stave off too much criticism.

They're Liverpool, always the victims.

Absofuckinglutely, Liverpool the only club allowed to grieve obviously, as if they're the only club and set of players who goes through trauma...I remember when Conte lost 3 of his close friends in a year including Ventrone, was he or us offered the same kind of sympathy when we were losing, were we fuck.

They're just shit and underpeforming, people just need to accept it, always some sort of excuse...death can affect people in many different ways but using this as a catalyst for their bad form is pretty crass.

I think anyone who talks of death and then compares how they might or have reacted to it, to then dismiss the effect it has had on another person or group of people is extrapolating far too much.

I don't think anyone can know the impact of Jota's untimely death but I don't think it explains Liverpool's calamitous drop on form.

What I do think is that Slot, Van Dijk and Salah in particular are utterly perplexed to the point of not quite knowing what to do.

They’re in a bad way, but let’s not go too far! 😂😂

I would put it down to the decline of Salah and VVD. It's finally one season too many for them.

As we found with Son and Kane, you can't replace players like that. City found the same with KDB, Silva and Gundogan.

I'm not comfortable with people now digging Slot out for being a shit manager. Winning the title like he did last season was pretty fucking incredible.

However, what I will say is consistency is the sign of a great manager. As Pep has shown, and unfortunately, Arteta is also showing by consistently having Woolwich up there challenging.

And if Liverpool fall away this season, it will probably show Slot is a good manager, but not a great one. Or great but not elite.

Their form, for the team they have and the money they spent is horrendous.

It's great to see though. They've been far too good a team the last decade. Practically unbeatable at Anfield especially in Europe.

All cycles come to an end. They've had an unbelievable one.

Do you know many grown men who, months after the death of a colleague, are still using their passing as a reason for underperforming at work? And we’re not talking one of them either. In addition, we have many in the media also offering this reason for underperforming.

As I said in my original post on the subject, I may well be in the minority here. Maybe happens a lot more than I know, just not so famously.

Extrapolation it may be, but just using my own life experiences to form an opinion. Basically like almost every other post made on this forum.

I agree with you. I lost my mum, a few days later I'm back at work and trying to get on with life as bills need to be paid.

Grief comes in waves and affects people differently but there's no comparison to losing an immediate family member to a colleague or even friend.

But look it's not a competition but I think pundits using this as an explanation for Liverpools pool form is a bit off and not representative of the wider picture.

Slot most definitely cannot be classified as a great manager. Not even close. Let's not lose sight here or make statements that are baseless. Nor is Arteta at this stage. Very good, yes I would say.

As you rightly say,it's about consistency, but it's also looking at the players at your disposal and the competition at any given period. Slot will need to hope he has time to put things right or onto an even keel. He effectively beat one team last season in truth. Now, having been given 5 or 6 players.....

The one absolute plus is that it tempers the ppsters/fans on here who would be relentlessly talking about a so called proper board backing their manager, which would have been the case if Liverpool had been running away with the PL.

They don't know what to say at present. One trick ponies. Ha.

Also funny to see how quickly other fanbases turn. Liverpool pretend they are much better than everyone else, it's utter bollocks as we all know.

Turned on TAA for leaving on a free to Madrid. Now calling for Slot's head months after winning the PL.

I know it's always been like this but it does seem to be getting worse, and it's crazy now how quickly fans call for a sacking.

Even winning the PL title doesn't seem to buy you any credit with fans nowadays. You would have thought they would maybe give him a bit more time, but I am seeing normally "sensible" Liverpool fans calling for Slot to be sacked, calling it irreperable.

The thing is, it's almost impossible for football teams to just keep winning, this is their first really bad spell for quite a few years and it's long overdue.
