Many reasons why it's a bad idea........ You can tell from TV comms that ex players juts interpret the game as per how things used to be in their day (rather than the current rulebook)..... It's common to hear things like "I don't know what handball is anymore" too.
It also just opens up even more paths to fans suspecting bias as players are even easier to associate with certain clubs.
