The following appears to be an official Greek police statement, alleging Maguire both hit and kicked police officers, as well as being verbally abusive. It asserts that Maguire & the other suspects will be charged with aggravated assault.

So, either manure come up with a massive bung, or their captain and first choice CB is going to be unavailable for quite some time.

If Maguire is charged with aggravated assault on police officers, the FA will likely be under significant political pressure to suspend him pending the outcome of any trial.

All the corporations & brands sponsoring Slabhead will presumably run a mile too.

“The soccer player was verbally abusive to an officer and then hit him. The three were resisting when brought to the Mykonos police station,” said a police official, who added Maguire and his friends will be taken by boat to Syros to face charges brought by a public prosecutor. Greek media reported that Maguire had got into “a very heated altercation” with other English holidaymakers on the party island late on Thursday. When policemen, subsequently called to the scene, attempted to break up the midnight brawl, they were verbally abused.

“There were several policemen there. At some point, one of the three members of the group – they were aged 27, 28, and 29 – threw a swing at one of the policemen and a fight ensued,” added police spokesperson Petros Vassilakis. “All of the three were arrested but during the effort to do so, the other two, including the football player, got violent also. They threw down at least two policemen, hit them with their fists and kicked them.
“I can’t tell you what they were telling us,” he added. “All English swear words against the authorities and against the work of the police. All three, including the football player, are being held in custody, locked up in Mykonos cell. They will appear before a state prosecutor on the island of Syros later today to be charged with aggravated assault.”

Harry Maguire facing possible charge of assaulting police officer in Greece
Yep, on the BBC now

I have a mate in the FCO.

Apparently someone attacked Maguire from behind on weds night.

By the time he turned, it was Friday morning and he hit an innocent member of the public

The potential seriousness of this must be why manure are trying to hijack the woolwich deal for Lille's Gabriel.

Their season is sabotaged before it's even begun.

Allegedly attacking police officers, eh?

That smells like potential jail time to me.

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has been arrested on the island of Mykonos for allegedly attacking police officers after a raucous night out.

The £85million England international was allegedly involved in a bust-up with a group of other Englishmen before becoming 'very abusive and aggressive' towards officers who arrived to intervene.

Maguire, 27, spent last night in a cell along with two other men aged 28 and 29, and the trio are expected to appear before a state prosecutor on the nearby island of Syros later today.

Harry Maguire is arrested on Mykonos 'for attacking cops'
And you will go to Mykonos
With a vision of a gentle coast
And a sun to maybe dissipate
Shadows of the mess you made

If Eric gets a four game ban for running up some steps, then what does Maguire getting for assaulting a police office - 10, 20 a whole season? The FA have set a precedent will they stick with it?
They won't do owt till his legal case is done. If he gets off, they'll shrug their shoulders. If he gets convicted and fined, they will give him a couple games, maybe have him sit out a couple of england friendlies. If gets time, any ban will coincide with that spell in chokey and be a week less. They only way they throw the book at a united player is if the cheque doesn't clear...I mean if the media/public kick off

The missing bangle in Bogota..

Maguire is potentially done.

Firstly, self-defence and "we didn't know they were coppers" will be difficult to run as a defence if the group he was with were shouting anti-police abuse, and then resisted arrest on their way to the nick.

Secondly, if one of his group attempted to bung a copper, and the authorities seem to have put attempted bribery charges to the court, Maguire is in big trouble.

This is all alleged, and the guy is entitled to a fair trial.

But if the allegations are proven, it could be career-ending.

‘A case file was opened against the trio for the occasional offenses of violence against officials – court officials, disobedience, bodily harm, insult and attempted bribery of an employee,’ confirmed a statement from the Greek court on Friday.

Not sure about that, it will put a halt to playing top flight football for a bit and he probably will never play for England again, but I don't think it is career-ending.
Just saw the bribery part, what fucking moron decided to do that? They have made it 10 times worse.

If Maguire is found guilty of aggravated assault of a police officer (or multiple police officers), and attempted bribery of an official, that would be a near mandatory prison sentence in this country.
Also, we don't know the extent of the injuries suffered by the cops but, if any are serious, that could be a potential GBH charge which would also mean jail time.
Plus a Greek judge could easily decide the alleged verbal abuse against Greek police officers is a significant aggravating factor.
Maguire is 27. If he spends a year in nick, getting back to top level fitness and playing level will be a challenge.
Also, given the horrific Andrew Harper case, the political climate is very unforgiving of anyone who assaults a police officer, so that will make any "rehabilitation" more difficult.

Calm down, the lad will be back in Manchester and on the football pitch before you know it.

So, according to the Torygraph's legal expert, Maguire could get two years AND immediately return back to Blighty if the case is appealed.

That would give manure an interesting dilemma, if Maguire has been found guilty of assaulting a police officer but is back in Manchester.

Whether the FA would have the cojones to take any action is a moot point.

The Manchester United captain was said to be facing a worst-case-scenario prison term of two years if prosecutors reviewing his arrest on the island of Mykonos pursue a charge on Saturday of aggravated assault.
The bribery offence was said to relate to one of the two other men who were arrested with him in the early hours.
"The policemen that intervened were secret police, in plain clothes, so it is possible that Maguire and his friends did not understand that they were police officers," one source close to the investigation claimed. "One of the men allegedly attempted to bribe the police when they were taken in the precinct."
Paul Anast, a Greek legal expert and investigator, told Telegraph Sport that many cases of this kind get thrown out, but he added: "If it was not an accident and it was an aggravated result, it could be two years in jail. But if you are sentenced, you can appeal and will be released immediately, which is the law for anything like this under two years. You can then leave the country."

Mancs will do nothing, to much money invested, media won’t bother as it doesn’t suit their narrative, FA have no arse hole so they will do fuck all and all will be forgotten.

Enter Jamie Vardy.
