Next March or April, Spurs have an FA Cup semi-final coming up. Like now, we have Son and Richarlison injured. Then a week before the semi-final Kane gets injured. Scarlett would be recalled. Put it this way, if Kane gets injured against Liverpool on Sunday, it's highly likely Scarlett will be recalled from Portsmouth.
We're one injury away from asking who we can convert to a short term CF/Striker

Yes, Parrott would have been an option but... Fortunately we have one league game left, after Liverpool, before the break. I don't think we'll be too worried about the League Cup game against Forest.

Neither Parrott nor Scarlett could play for Spurs until 1 January even if we cancelled their loans tomorrow - change of clubs can only happen in a transfer window.

Not allowing Scarlett to play in FA Cup could be :
- a standard precaution
- there is a possibility he might be going on loan to a Championship club in 2nd half of the season (several Portsmouth players and other League 1 managers have said he's too good for that league).
- he's wanted back at Spurs, but I think that only happens if we cannot buy or loan in a forward in January.

You sure about that?

"Can a team call back a player on loan?

Yes, the loan can be terminated in the middle of the tenure. This decision lies solely in the hands of the parent club who can decide to terminate the loan and call back the player. But to do this, they need to pay an earlier discussed fee for the player to be released."

I think the bit you quote is where its a one year loan and someone wants to break the loan in the January transfer window (ie middle of the tenure).

Other than emergency gk's I don't think other player transfers/registration can take place outside a transfer window

Took a teenager to set any kind of standard going forward. Wouldn't give up and kept plugging away while others were AWOL.
Thanks for the update. Seems to be a recurring theme at this point. Maybe he needs a loan to a team that actually knows how to attack.

Pompey seem to be going through a bit of a rough patch after a decent start to the season. Something like 5 goals in their last 6 league games is pretty poor

I think the club are managing him fairly well though, resting him when he needed it and he's getting good minutes and they're still in the playoff spots so I would probably keep him at Pompey for the experience and hopefully they improve and Scarlett starts getting goals again. He's still only 18 so no need to rush his development

(Replaced by Joe Pigott on 86 minutes): Chased and harried everything, showing excellent desire, yet ball not quite falling for him inside the box at present and doesn’t look like scoring.

Tbh, as young as he is the development of the physical side of his game and work-rate at this level will do him the world of good.

Agree. Still only aged 18.

Although he's not pulling up trees atm in terms of goals and assists, it probably better to leave him at Portsmouth for the rest of the season at L1 Portsmouth rather than moving club which is bound to be disruptive at his age.

Next season he'll probably get a Championship loan with ease and still only be aged 19, and hopefully his L1 experience will stand him in good stead and he can focus more on goals/assists .... and still only be aged 19/20 when competing for a squad place at Spurs the season after.

If he can’t score goals in div one, why will a championship club want him ‘with ease’?
